Subject: Are "careless words" sin? |
Bible Note: Country Girl: the problem, as I see it, is the word "judgment" - to pass sentence, to condemn. The Judgment Seat of Christ is akin to a "reviewing stand" - this is for the believer because we are NOT condemned or judged, but rather reviewed and recompensed. The Judgment of God is indeed for those who have rejected His Word and they are condemned. A note on Romans 14:12 by rextar: "All Christians must stand before the judgment seat of Christ (Rom_14:10, 2Co_5:10). Salvation is grace thru faith, apart from works (Eph_2:8-9). However, we may receive a greater or less reward, according to our works for Christ. Our reward will be according to what we have done and also the intent of our heart (2Co_5:10). That is the meaning of us giving an account of ourselves to God here in Rom_14:12. Paul was addressing the problem of us standing in judgement of others. When we are standing before the judgement seat of Christ, we will not give an account for others, and others will not give an account of us. Heb_6:10 says "For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister." Remember, the purpose of us standing before the judgment seat of Christ is so God can REWARD us, not judge us." IMO, the Bema of Christ is a separate event from the Judgment, one that a believer experiences prior to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Country Girl, by your own admission, you have little knowledge of end time events, therefore, I encourage you to not deprive yourself of the blessing that God promises to those who heed the prophecy of His Revelation to us! (Rev 22:7) Whether or not these two "judgments" are in harmony or separate experiences need not divide us. Blessings, mommapbs |
