Bible Note: I just thought of another interesting parallel: Upon thoughtful consideration of the way our God speaks to us as His children through His Word, our Bibles, I have to draw the conclusion that generally God speaks to us with great simplicity and straight forwardness. Upon describing the greatest achievement in this whole universe, its creation including the creation of man and woman, Adam and Eve, God only takes a few chapters to do so and does it with an amazing amount of simplicity. As I mentioned, I think God describes the way this universe is going to end in a rather simple manner, speaking a word like He did in the beginning and bring it to a very sudden end as depicted by His Son in Matt 24, by Paul in 1 Thes 5:2 and by Peter in 2 Pet 3:10. In contrast, men have come up with a great elaborate idea of a gradual, dramatic phasing of the end of the world and the various kinds of judgments as you've suggested. First, the rapture, then the 1000 year reign and other feautures about which I really don't know very much. All I know my Bible (and yours) teaches God is a tremendously powerful, all-knowing, all-present Being but when He deals with His creation, including you and me, He does so very simply. He created the whole universe in a mere six 24 hour days. I'm sure he can destroy it much quicker, and conduct judgment in a much faster timeframe than you and I can imagine and then proceed with the rest of His existence, whatever form that's going to take. As you said this is all opinion so what you think of mine? I hope you'll pray and study on it. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
