Bible Note: Hi JMSCOTT, You have had an interesting discussion here and I hesitate to add to it. Basically, the thing that I would question most about your revelation is how you made Joshua into a Man when he was just a man as Tim pointed out. To say that Joshua was the son of Nun (none) and base the divinity of Jesus on a joke is wrong. Joshua was born a man and he died a man. Joshua 24:29, "And it came about after these things that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant [sic] of the Lord, died, being one hundred and ten years old. And they buried him..." I believe that Joshua is a "type" of Christ as evidenced in his name. But he is different from the Man, Jesus of Nazareth. I would like to point out that in your discussion of Exodus 33:11 you placed Joshua in the tent of meeting when he was rather in front of his tent just like everyone else. Moses showed his disappointment in verse twelve that Joshua would not depart from his tent when Moses was expecting God to let him know who would be sent with him. Exodus 33:14, "And He said, "My presence [sic] shall go with you, and **I will give you rest." NASB Exodus 33:14, "And He said, "My Presence [sic] shall go with you, and **I will give you rest." I think that Joshua's presence was important and is a picture of the Christ who was to come but don't make him into a Presence for he was only a man. A man would not depart from the (his) tent. Hebrews 4:8, "For if Joshua had given them rest, **He would not have spoken of another day after that." A promise remains of entering His rest, and I hope that we hear His voice. Hebrews 4:14, "Since then we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession." He is the Son of God, not the son of some Sister somewhere. From the heart, Ray |
