Bible Note: Dear e7mac, You asked: " Can someone be misguided in one area of their christian life ,and still be saved? Can a person sin and still be a christian? I would not like to publicly say that godhatesfags.... lower case? nor would I publicly judge another human for there misfortunes." 1 John 1:6-10 "If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. Can some one be misguided in one area ot their christian life and still be saved? Yes, of course they can! None of us are perfect. Far from it. The solution to being mis-guided is to read and study the Bible which IS our guide. We must also pray and ask God to open our eyes so that we can see and understand His truth. Somethings are more difficult than others to understand and no man has a perfect understanding of the whole of Scripture. But The Holy Spirit will lead all God's children into every truth in Scripture that they need. God has given the church teachers as well who are charged with the duty to feed His sheep. Seek out a Bible believing church and learn from these servants of God, keeping in mind that the Bible is our final authority. Can a person sin and still be a christian? We all sin. We will not be totally free until we stand in the presence of Jesus Himself and are at last made perfect whithin ourselves. Until that time, God sees us as being perfect if we are indeed "in Christ" and a member of His body. God hates all sin. All people sin, and everyone who sins will be punished. The GOOD NEWS is that Christ was punished on behalf of every sinner who flees to Him and places their trust in Him for salvation. We are not saved onthe basis of our sinless performance (for then no one would be saved for no one is perfect) but upon Christ's sinlessness. From the instant we are "born again" God begins to re-make us in the image of His only begotten Son. He did not save us so that we could continue in our old sinful ways. We go thru a process of change called sanctification. As long as we are alive this purifying work of the Holy Spirit is active in our lives. The old sins we loved so much begin to weigh heavily on our hearts and our we begin to hate them because we know the pain and suffering it cost our Saviour to rescue us from them. Of course we still stumble and fall but it is differnt now from the way it used to be. Now sin causes us grief and fear. We run to Christ for forgiveness and He inturn pleads our case before The Father. What a wonderful Lord is Jesus Christ! Keep praying and reading His Word. Brother John |
