NASB | Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. |
Bible Question: Why do some claim we are Healed already? That all we have to do is receive our healing? If this is true why would God give the gift of healing, or command us to have the Elders of the church to pray for us when we are sick? Isn't God Sovereign? I think of Job and the Apostle Paul (2 Cor 12). Please provide some clarity here. |
Bible Answer: I believe God is Sovereign. I truly believe this verse to mean that we are healed from our sins. If it meant we were healed of sickness, then there would be no sickness amongst Christians and there is as we live in a sin, disease infested world. I do believe God does and can heal. He can do whatever He wants to. I believe we all need to seek for a spiritual healing before a physical healing. |
