Bible Note: Hi Angel, An interesting thing about the context in Zech. 11 is that the prophecy of the "idol shepherd" that the Lord "is going to" raise up follows a prophecy of Judas who betrayed Jesus. The two charactures in the Bible called the Son of Perdition are Judas Iscariot and the "antichrist". Romans 13:1 tells us that there is no power, speaking of earthly authorities, but of God. Eph. 1:11 tells us that God works all things according to the counsel of His own will. Does not God set up rulers according to His own timetable, raising up one, putting another down? Will not the antichrist fullfill God's purpose towards the salvation of Isreal? No creature will usurp God's throne, but there is one who will attempt to make those who dwell on the earth to worship him. But he will only do this in the time, and place, and manner which God has chosen. In calling this person the "idol shepherd", we are speaking of one who will be both false god and shepherd, which would again seem to be the "antichrist". Love in Christ, Mark |
