Bible Question:
In the last 5 months it seems like I just always know what God wants me to do. Do I stay at my job or find another one? Do I get out of a relationship or not? These are really big decisions that didn't take me anytime to make because it was like God burned it in my heart before I even asked. Of course I prayed for confirmation to make sure it was Him and not satan trying to trick me and it was always confirmed. Is this discernment? I don't mean to ask stupid questions, but I'm really new at this. |
Bible Answer: Yes kasadya, you could have the gift of discernment! You are asking good questions.. Praise the Lord that you are able to so clearly see the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life! You have practiced the greatest 'discernment' in your life by following the leading of the Holy Spirit! :) Do you have the gift? For the gift of Discernment, you must ask yourself: 1. Do people often say that you have good spiritual judgment? 2. Are you a good judge of character and can you spot a spiritual "phony"? 3. Are you able to distinguish between right and wrong in complex spiritual matters, that other people can't seem to figure out? 4. Do people come to you for help in distinguishing between spiritual truth and error? The spiritual gift of Discernment could be defined as follows: "The ability to distinguish right from wrong, truth from error, to give immediate evaluation based on God's Word, and to identify deception in character and relationships." Some Scriptures to display this gift and the use of this gift include 1 John 4:1-6 and Acts 5:1-11. If your answers to Questions 1-4 are more "affirmative" to you (then being "not applicable"), then you certainly may have this gift! To "confirm" that you have this gift, ask someone to answer the very same questions (1-4) and give you honest and open answers regarding these questions. If this Godly person (who knows you well) also answers in the "affirmative" regarding these questions about you, then you can rest assured that you have this gift! :) Your Brother in Christ, Nolan |
