Bible Note: Dear Seth, Please don't paint us all with the same color. Sabbatarianism is nothing new. Biblical circumlocutions -- and particularly Pauline circumlocutions -- have been coming out of the woodwork since the first century (Judaizers, Robert Campbell, Ellen G. White, N. T. Wright, Herbert W. Armstrong, etc.). Men try to hedge their bets with the ditch on the left side of the road (Antinomianism) or the ditch on the right side of the road (Legalism) -- but both positions are in a ditch. What pitiable concerns given the incredible completed work of Christ! It is a wonderful blessing to be able to spend one day in seven focusing on our Lord! All this stuff about which day, how, where -- or chucking the question out altogether -- are self centered. It fails utterly to see the beauty, majesty, grace, honor, and glory of God. Anything else is obvious evidence of having lost sight of Him. Many of us have here have explicitly stated approaches to sabbath observance -- having nothing to do with obeying the Law or dispensing of it. Our day in corporate, family, and individual worship doesn't look anything like the extremes I keep seeing here. Furthermore, the Scriptural reasons are fully and thoroughly documented (i.e., they are fully exposed) for examination. We do not believe in hiding our Biblical understanding under a bushel. If you want a broader education of how the Spirit has guided His church through Scripture and Scripture alone, I can provide those to you. In Him, Doc |
