Bible Question:
Dear Steve and Nolan, Lifting up of hands is not a way that I personally choose to worship God. However, I have known many people whom I respect who do choose to worship that way, and it seems to bring them into closer communion with God. I am curious about your definition of worship Steve. If I understand your post, you agree that lifting of hands can be related to praising God (Psalm 134 below). However you say that this is not worship. I always thought that praising God was one form of worship. Could you please explain the differences that you see between them. Psalm 134 1: Come, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who stand by night in the house of the LORD! 2: Lift up your hands to the holy place, and bless the LORD! 3: May the LORD bless you from Zion, he who made heaven and earth! |
Bible Answer: Greetings, I appreciate your input! Yes, I also know many people who practice the 'raising up' of their hands during worship, and by no means do I condemn this form of worshipping our Lord, even though I myself do not practice it. Forum member, you are very new to this Forum and I welcome you! However, I will not repeat your Screen Name in any of my posts, since I took your name at first glance to mean "a snake". I do not believe that I would be bringing any glory whatsoever to God in any way by repeating your screen name, Forum member. Perhaps if you would reveal your name or change your Screen Name to something that I could repeat, then I would be a little more comfortable addressing you. As for myself, I have most recently changed my Screen Name for the very reason that this Forum has become and is becoming so much more "public" than ever!! I have become a little 'wary' of using my real name on such a public forum as this. Therefore, I sought to be creative in changing my Forum Name (but not my Forum identity). :) However, "Nicodemus" may not be what I entirely decide upon, since my mind has not been totally "made up". :) For my first 1,715 postings my Screen Name was Nolan Keck. For the past 8, it has been Nicodemus. If anyone has any "suggestions" on what I should call myself, than please send me a note at nkeck98@yahoo.com! As for you, Forum member, I would suggest that you would find a Screen Name that would make us all a little more comfortable in referring to you, since fellowship is the emphasis here at this Forum (and fellowship about the Bible), and not anyone's Screen Name. Thank you! Your Brother in Christ, Nolan |
