Bible Note: Hello rachiero, Just for sake of accuracy, where does is say that what Jesus was sweating, was in fact actually blood? You suggested "Jesus sweating blood" Luke 22:44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. Scripture often uses what we call “figures of speech” in this particular case it is a form known as “simile”. It doesn’t say it was blood but it was like blood. Here is another clear example of a simile; John 1:32 And John bore witness saying, "I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. It wasn’t a dove but “like” a dove. Acts 2:3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. It wasn’t fire, but like fire; those are similes which are one of the easiest figure of speech to recognize. Figures of speech could really confuse a person reading the book of Revelation, since there are numerous different types of figures of speech in use there. We don’t all have the same grasp for grammatical assimilation. Do you get the picture? Have a great day, CDBJ |
