Bible Question: 2Timothy 2:15 is a verse I paid little attention to particularly the last part "rightly dividing the word of truth" until recently when I started reviewing my bible study method. Why is it that so many ignore the fact that one needs to study dispensationally, dividing the Word correctly? Are we being disobedient by not doing so? |
Bible Answer: Hello, Ken! You asked "why is it that so many ignore the fact that one needs to study dispensationally, dividing the Word correctly?" I'm sure the answers you receive will be diversified, but in my opinion it is because this method of study takes work and discipline. Most Christians do not even read the Bible, much less take time to study it. This is why there is so much error in the Body of Christ and why it is so easy for cults to gain converts, even among "Christians" and church-goers. Majority of Christians do not know "why they believe what they believe". And what is really sad is, they are not being taught basic Bible doctrines in their churches. Years ago my husband worked with a Jehovah's Witness. This man was challenging my husband's faith in the area of the Trinity. My husband was a young Christian at the time, so he went to our pastor for help. Our pastor, of a large denomination, had no idea how to go through the Scriptures and explain this to my husband. And, yes, I believe we ARE being disobedient by not studying the Word correctly. I highly recommend the many indepth studies by Kay Arthur of Precept Ministries in Chattanooga, TN.
