Bible Note: It looks like you are quoting the old law which holds us in our sin and does not release us from it. That is what Jesus came to do- release us from the bondage of the old law. The old law believed in an eye for an eye. "Moses commanded us to stone such women", those who brought the adulteress to Jesus said. But what do you say? What is your Judgment? And Jesus said: He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 1 Tim 5:22 Do not lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin. John 8:5 "Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?" What do YOU say? If judging based on fact leads us to kill someone else, then this is not sane judgment, but rather craziness and sinning on our side of things. Two wrongs do not make a right, ever. 29 Rom 2:22 You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? John 8:11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more." Romans 13:4 ... the sword by the government is just Which government? If it's the government that your country is fighting against which uses the sword against your soldiers, are they right? Are they right in killing you if they are just listening to the commander? Would you want to be on the wrong end of the gun? Would you in any way at that moment admit that their country, because of their law that they forswore, was right? Who is to know which country is right in killing the other? How are we to know if anyone deserves death? Is anyone ever right for killing? "Do Not Kill" Well, that about says it all. Romans 13:4 ... the sword by the government is just Do you think Paul was possibly saying that any goverment can kill whoever they want, and they are right, and moral to do this to others? Rather,Paul speaks in symbolism: 394 Eph 6:17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 395 Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. May I submit to you that when Paul says 'government' he means God's good, SAVING, Onniscient judgment, not the world's, not ours. The world is taught by the devil. Therefore, we cannot judge righteous judgment. For we are not capable of it. Only God can be a righteous judge, because only he knows the heart. Rom 3:10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; So given this, how can we then make of ourselves our brother's judge? all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; This is not the old law of Moses, rather it is the new law of love thy neighbor as thyself that Paul is referring to here. 18 Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God This is a story I have made up. The killer is sitting in the chair, ready to die, and he is afraid. A group of men have strapped his head, arms, and feet. They hope to stop him from killing again, and they hope to bring justice to him. But for some reason, someone says a prayer, and Christ arrives on the scene. The man asks Jesus a question, 'Now our government must uphold the law; and this man has been judged to be unworthy of life by our judges. Are courts are peopled by honorable men, who have many years of study, and know pride in seeing justice. We honor our Fathers. We take pride in our country and honor our land. We only obey out of love. what then do You say?" He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to electricute him". And they were beside themselves with guilt, and said "But we have not murdered or ever drawn blood". And Jesus said (actually, all of these are my words, not Jesus', but there is a verse where he says this about adultery) You have heard it said that whoever murders must be put to the electic chair. But I say whoever kills within his own heart and in his own thoughts is guilty of murder. That day they believed Jesus, and quit their jobs. Then they went home and stopped murdering in their hearts. Jesus turned to the man sitting in the electric chair and said (all of my words, not truly said by Jesus) I do not condemn you. You may remain incarcerated in this jail, but yet you will be free if you sin no more in your heart. Let the word of the Lord come to your heart and He will lead you out of your unrighteous ways. |
