Subject: Death penalty Biblical? |
Bible Note: I don't think it is wrong to apply God's word to the issues in our lives. If this is taking truth too far, then what use can the bible be to anyone? How can it ever help us if we say "that applied to the Israelites, that applies to the woman caught in adultery only, and can't be applied today? The whole matter is, what greater reference is there to back up your opinion than God's word? I don't see this as a website in which it is off limits to do this. This is not a judicial court. This website is about the bible. Don't we all believe in jesus' Word? How is it wrong to point to backup from the bible? This website asks me to do so, before I submit the answer. The very thing is, if we don't speak for what the bible says, we won't get anywhere. -I cannot speak for or against capital punishment myself for I am truly a human with all kinds of weaknesses.- I did not say that is WRONG to speak against horrific acts. I said that the bible says we cannot JUDGE OTHERS because we don't have that kind of information. That is all I said. (If possible, how I love to see there is no need of capital punishment at all.) There are mysteries which, unfortunately, I don't know all the quotes to, but believe me, there are mysteries of God that we cannot understand with our intellect- but that does not make it not so. Jesus says there is no one righteous, not one. We live in the world of flesh. This is not taking any truth out of these statements, because what they mean is we are not to trust the world's ways. These statements completely apply to what we are talking about. That is not an opinion. That is what the bible is about. Because we are flesh, we want to kill, it's natural. Just look at the bible and look at history. I am not making this up. Love your neighbor. Do not kill. How am I taking what the bible says out of context? The bible did not actually mean only the person living in the house nextdoor to you, you know. So if this is taking the the word out of context, who can answer anything by looking at the bible? I am not reading in to things. The bible said love your enemy. When we bring someone to the chair, it is because we are hating him. I do not see how applying the commandments to a quandry could be any easier than this. It is clear cut. Their is no discussion. The answer is already given. Shalom |
