Bible Question:
Hank maybe you are right. What do you think Heb 6 would be referring to then? "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ....it is impossible for those who were once elightened...to renew again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God and put him to an open shame." My thoughts have always just been THAT was blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. To have known God and yet reject and deny him and his teachings openly before men. Nothing else comes to mind that one could do and not be forgiven of. What do you think blasphemy of the Holy Ghost would be? Tell me what you think. God Bless Casey |
Bible Answer: Casey Hebrews 6 4-8 is describing a state of being rather than a particular sin itself. It is saying that if a man who once was saved allows himself to become so comfortable with sin that he is no longer under conviction of the Holy Spirit (his conscience is seared) that there is no hope for him. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is to speak of the Holy Spirit in a manner that the Holy Spirit withdraws forever from you. Your no longer placed under conviction. Your dead to your sin. Admittedly the results in both cases are the same, your lost forever without hope of redemption. However in one the conscience is seared unable to hear the Holy Spirit in the other the Holy Spirit stops convicting you. The difference is one is an action or sin the other is a process a sinful life style. EdB |
