Bible Question: What are some of the virtues that Abraham has that makes him a Patriarch? |
Bible Answer: Dear Curran, I respectfully disagree with reformerJoe, that being a "Patriarch" was not bestowed on Abraham. He was unable to have a single heir if God had not given him one; and that one was given only one, and that one was given two and then we have the twelve and one sister. God did that. I believe God did this for Abraham because of his incredible faith in God despite the fact that he was raised by Terah who was an idol worshipper- despite the fact that he and his wife were well past the age to have an heir when God said He would give him one and well past the age when God tested him and told him to destroy that precious miracle of a child. If Abraham would not withhold his only son from God, God would certainly not withhold His Only Son from mankind through the lineage of such a man of faith as Abraham. |
