Subject: Why was God unhappy with Cains offering? |
Bible Note: I believe that God did not accept Cain's offering because it represented the work of his hands in contrast to Abels sacrifice of a lamb which was accepted by God. The principle of redemption by blood is seen in picture form when God clothed Adam and Eve with skins. Abel's sacrifice like all of the Old Testament sacrifices pointed forward to the Lamb of God which John pointed out "Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world." "Not of Works lest any should boast" ( Eph.2:9) We are "accepted in the beloved" the moment we rest in the finished work of Christ on the cross for our salvation. Praise his name. Robert Nicholson |
