AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise and insightful, she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her husband with her, and he ate. |
Bible Question: I realize the first rule for interpreting Scripture is to "read-it-like-it-is." The argument I was attempting to use is this: "If I were out with my wife, and someone attempted to get 'familiar' with her, the outcome would not be the same." Secondly, some other versions read that she took it to her husband. If Adam were there, at the exact instance that the conversation was going on, I contend that the situation would have been different. I also realize that other factors like, jealousy, envy, and those other things had not yet entered the picture. But, common sense, or unction, was clearly still on the scene. |
Bible Answer: In Gen. 3:6 it would appear that Adam was not with Eve when she was tempted by the serpent. The seductive conversation in which the serpent questioned the Word of God by using part truths occured between Eve and the Serpent. In addition in Gen.3:12 when the Lord asked Adam "What hast thou done" Adam blamed the woman not the serpent. Have you given any thought to the love which Adam had for his wife. He was not seduced by satan, but willing took of that which would bring him spiritual death to God. In fact, it is Adam not Eve who is cited in Romans 5:23 as the one whereby sin entered the world. This reminds me of the love that the Lord Jesus had for the church in that he willing partook of the awful death of the Cross, knowing full well the cost and yet he turned not back and offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins thereby satisfying a Holy God. Through his death he has removed the separation which was ours by sin and has brought us to himself by his precious blood. Seasons greetings in his precious Name. Robert |
