NASB | Genesis 2:9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 2:9 And [in that garden] the LORD God caused to grow from the ground every tree that is desirable and pleasing to the sight and good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the [experiential] knowledge (recognition) of [the difference between] good and evil. [Rev 2:7; 22:14, 19] |
Bible Question:
Is there a difference between the tree of Life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil as stated in the scripture. I believe that these are two seperate trees but am willing to learn if they are the same if scriptural guilines are applicable. |
Bible Answer: the tree of life is what God gave Adam and Eve so that they could have eternal life Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." i think the tree of Knowledge of good and evil was just there to test if Adam and Eve were going to worship/obey God Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." probably because of an accusation of satan similar to the one he points at Job |
