Bible Note: Greetings the Bible is Right! I haven't read all of this thread, so I hope I'm not repeating something! :-) Internal evidence can be very subjective, so I would not stand upon it alone. However, combined with manuscript evidence, it can be compeling. What scholars mean when they refer to 'internal evidence' is simply that an author tends to use words and structure in certain ways. When a disputed passage contains words or structure which occur nowhere else in that book, it is a good indication that someone else wrote that passage. Concerning 2 Tim. 3:16, this verse only applies to Scripture! :-) If someone else added something which the original author did not write, then it is not Scripture and 2 Tim. 3:16 does not apply.
