AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 1:26 ¶ Then God said, "Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth." Bible Question: who is the holy spirit |
Bible Answer: The Holy Spirit is, as the Father and the Son, one of the trinity revealed to us as God (John 14, Galatians 4). He is the one who was hovering over the waters of the unshapen world in Genesis 1. He is the one who inspired the writing of the Scriptures (2 Peter 1) and who helps us to understand it (1 Corinthians 2). He is the one who convicts the world of sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16), leads us to Christ, and effectuates the new birth in us (John 3). He guides the lives of those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8). It is the Holy Spirit that is most active in the world today, prompting us to ask questions about spiritual things and to receive answers from the word of God. Be aware, therefore, that he is with some of us and in some of us (John 14). |
