Bible Note: Parable, I enjoyed this post too! It was Thomas Carlyle, I believe, who said, "There are two worlds: the one we measure with line and rule, and the one we feel with our hearts and our imaginations.".... And I like these lines by Emily Dickinson: "I never saw a moor, I never saw the sea; yet know I how the heather looks, and what a wave must be.... I never spoke with God, nor visited in heaven; yet certain am I of the spot as if the chart were given." And most of all I like, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) Parable, I have come to a time in my life (and to a certain degree of spiritual maturity I believe) where I see faith as being a reality at least equal to the "line and rule" -- to use Carlyle's words -- of the physical world. In fact, I would venture to say that in some respects it is more so. With every good wish to you, --Hank |
