Bible Question: can you lose your salvation? |
Bible Answer: Yes, you can lose salvation--the Bible teaches this. "Lest ye repent, you shall likewise perish." and "Obey my commandments....". If you repent and obey His commandments to the very best of your ability, you won't lose your salvation. Yes, everyone "Falls short to the glory of God...."--something along these lines, which is why we are taught to continuously pray asking for forgiveness and strength to repent. "Returning to a life of sin is like a dog returning to his vomit." You MUST repent and remain a follower of Christ! Yes, Christ was crucified in order for us to receive forgiveness of sins, but in NO way is this a license to intentionally and continually break His commandments. Obeying His commandments are requirements for our salvation, not options or suggestions. One cannot intentionally break His commandments with the forethought in mind of asking for forgiveness after the fact. Remember, God knows your mind and heart. There are scriptures giving us examples of those who fell from grace. No where in the Bible will you find, once saved always saved. This is my understanding of the scriptures, but pray about it, asking Him for wisdom, and He will answer.... "Ask, and ye shall receive". Then, search the scriptures for answers.
