Shalom y'all This is not directed at you, specifically Doc, it's just yours is at the end of the thread. My wondering is why is everyone so concerned about observances that were not spoken of by God? All observe Christmas, Easter, and worry over Halloween, none of which were created nor ordained of God (they were created and ordained by man) and refuse to observe those were created and ordained by God (and His were "forever" ordinances). Why is this, I"m still struggling with it? Cheri |

Shabbat Shalom T'oma Actually, I was speaking more of Shabbat, Sukkot, etc., the feasts and observances found in Lev., not Chanukkah (that one was indeed man created). Those (found in the Torah) were instigated by the Lord and to be observed forever. Cheri |

Shalom T'oma, I didn't recognize your name as Hebrew, what does it mean? And no, I didn't think you spelled Chanukkah wrong - I know some spell it and pronounce it with a chet and some with a hei - I actually don't know which way is correct. Glad you got a laugh - I'm from Atlanta Ga and you can really tell it when I'm trying to pronounce Hebrew words, it's a riot. And yes, to the best of one's ability, I am Torah-observant. Cheri |

85 | Anyone know where the Land of Nod is? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195500
Hi Suzy, There is an article from 1999 (I think) at the Biblical Heritage website about Eden, Nod and Cush. It's speculative and I haven't checked to see if there actually is a follow-up (my understanding is that one was intended). But it might make for an interesting read. Here is the link http://www.biblicalheritage.org/Archaeology/eden.htm Shalom Cheri |

86 | What do we learn from praying | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195801
Amen sister Azure, Isn't it amazing? To speak with a country's president or king or queen we must make an appointment and then they will continuously look at their watches as we talk - BUT we have access to the very throne of the King of the Universe 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and He rejoices in the time we spend with Him!! in awe and amazement Cheri |

87 | what do almond blossoms look like | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195852
Shalom Clineamy, Rather than someone try to explain with words what something looks like (that's difficult to do) - if you just google "almond blossoms" you can bring up several places that will give you a picture. I just did it and got pictures, of the trees, ripe, unripe, of the nuts, leaves, flowers, etc. Happy hunting Cheri |

88 | Matthew 6:11. Is spritual or physical? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195908
Shalom Searcher, What focus would He be changing? He was telling his disciples not to be wordy and lengthy in their prayers to be heard by men and appear falsely pious. His focus was that Abba knows we have need before we even ask. So the prayer in and of itself can be seen as spiritual bread. Non-believers do not partake of that "bread," only the children of God truly know its power and sustenance! So we worship, we praise, we ask, we believe, and we confirm with our Amen! :-) Cheri |

89 | Pitt Minion format? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195979
Hi all, This is a question about Bibles proper. I am wishing to purchase a Cambridge Bible for my brother (with income tax return). (If there are better Bibles out there, let me know.) I've been to Cambridge website and they have a large variety to choose from - but I cannot find out what "Pitt Minion" is. I've googled it and can't find what it is other than some kind of format. Does anyone know if it's a good format, what makes it different from Cambridge's other (regular, I guess) format? Thanks for the help. It's a very special brother I'm wanting this for - so it's got to be a very special (for the rest of his life) Bible :-) Cheri |

91 | Pitt Minion format? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195994
Thank you very much Steve and Doc, I think I have a Pitt Minion (purchased in '69 or '70), but I only remember it being called a Cambridge Cameo. After all this time and a kazillion moves it only looks maybe 5years old! (Inside a different story!! Why needed replacing.) I won't be purchasing it till Jan. but wanted to get a jump on a decision (femalie difficulty, don't you know :-) ). Black calfskin, 8pt font, also sounds like it has a larger concordance. Once again, thank you so much for the help (and the history, history is always interesting!!). Shalom Cheri |

93 | I can do all things Phill.4:13 | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 196440
Shalom Faridah, What brother John told you is very true indeed. I just wanted to offer a little something that helped me, if you don't mind my jumping in here. One thing I did to begin getting in the routine of more prayer time was I picked out a few gospel songs that really spoke to my heart and any time that I was able, I would just begin to sing those songs (alone in the bathtub, washing the dishes, walking down the street to do the daily food shopping, going thru the mail at the mailboxes, etc), and I believe that God honored those times because He was on my mind and in my heart during those times. It wasn't long before those few minutes increased into more minutes, and more and more. Even now, I still very often spend my "alone time" with Him just singing praise and worship songs to Him - and I still believe He enjoys our time together. (Everyone else tells me to keep my day-job, but Abba likes my singing!!) Cheri |

94 | Sin to charge interest on a loan? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 196450
Shalom pbp, I don't think there is anything in the Bible that says charging interest is a sin, but here are just a few passages that you might find helpful: Lev. 25:35-38 Prov. 19:17 Jas. 2:14-18 Isa. 59:6-8 If it is in the Bible (either yea or nay), I'm sure someone else on the Forum will know and respond. Meanwhile, I pray this helps a bit :-) Cheri |

97 | When was the begining of the Gospel give | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 196765
Shalom Billw, Are you a child of God? Have you been adopted into the family of God? Then from the first letter of Genesis to the last letter of Revelation is for you. Abraham was a Gentile when God called him and cut a covenant with him. God's salvation by grace through faith has always been available to all mankind (to the Jew first and then to the Gentile). One of the greatest pictures we have of our Savior is found in the Gentile King Melchizedek. Cheri |

100 | missing pages? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 196883
Shalom Michael, Are the pages missing naturally or did they just fall out? I ask, because several months ago I had purchased a Bible that had a chapter of Jer. inserted in Isaiah and 2 chapters of Isaiah totally missing. The Bible was several months old by the time I noticed this (and I had markings in it too) but the store replaced it for me anyway. But if pages are missing due to wear and tear, I don't know. Maybe someone else can help with that. Cheri |
