Norrie, Maybe that testimony was for yourself, but I know the feeling. I find that using Internet Explorer eliminates loosing type material when you have to use the "back" feature. I can't tell the number of times this has happened to me. 82 | Does God send disasters as punishment? | Gen 18:20 | inmyheart | 83517
Actually Jesus Himself did comment on the kinds of disasters and accidents and tragedies that befall us in life. He gave a startling answer to the question "Why did God allow such a terrible thing to happen?" Luke 13 gives the account. Jesus was asked about a tragedy in the temple in Jerusalem when Pilate had brutally killed some devout Jewish worshipers at the time of the temple daily sacrifice, mingling their blood with that of the sacrificed animals: "...Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered thus? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen upon whom the tower (under construction) in Siloam fell, and killed them all, do you think they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:1-5) The answer Jesus gave is very surprising. Jesus did not apologize for either incident. God had not lost control. Neither did He assign any blame. In a fallen world, innocent people suffer and die. There is no safe place in this present life. There are no guarantees. Jesus does not promise His followers good health, a long life, and material riches. It is more likely Christians will find trouble, adversity, opposition, and trials, but they will inherit the kingdom of God. The only sure refuge is one's relationship with God. Jesus said the most important thing in life was to repent--that is, to be in a right relationship with God at all times. "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him! Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. "And I tell you, every one who acknowledges me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. And every one who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say..." And he told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, nor about your body, what you shall put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass which is alive in the field today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O men of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be of anxious mind. For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well. "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Luke 12:2-34) God bless |

83 | # of Apostles? 12 and Paul? or more? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83369
JodiCF "Surely everyone will agree that there were 12 original apostles. They are mentioned by name in several places including Acts, the first chapter. Because one of those apostles, Judas Iscariot, betrayed Christ and later hanged himself (Matt. 27:5), it became necessary to select a replacement. The Acts account states that Matthias was the one selected by God (Acts 1:26) to replace Judas. The list of named apostles of Christ now totaled 13 in the New Testament. "In the 12th chapter of Acts, we learn that James, the son of Zebedee, one of the original apostles, was killed by King Herod (verse 2). There was another James among the original 12, the son of Alphaeus, who apparently is not mentioned after Acts 1:13. "Continuing in the 12th chapter of Acts, we learn from verse 17 that after James was killed, another James remained." "Who this other James was is explained in Galatians 1:19, 'But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.' This James, who was a half brother of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is in this place called an apostle. This brings the number to 14 named apostles." "The next apostles' names in Acts are mentioned in chapter 14." "Who were these apostles? The previous chapter (13), verse 50, identifies them as Paul and Barnabas. This now brings our total to 16 named apostles. Lest there be any question about Paul and Barnabas, notice also Acts 14:14." God bless |

Justme You stated to Imf, "I believe God wants me to be a wise steward, and live simply. We strive to be simple and with that there is a joy and an abundance of all we need. I keep saying this but it bares repeating, there is a big difference in needs and wants." Simply saying, it not about striving to be simple, so that we can have joy and abundance of all we need, how about the needs of others? If we are going to extend our hands to others in need, don't you agree we need more than enough? I'm not speaking of being greedy, we need the wisdom of God to handle the wealth of God! My point is, God has His people in the valley's and at the top of the hill, but we all have a higher standard of living, than those of the world. "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Eph.3:20-21 (NIV) |

86 | Where is eden located? | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83301
Alan0229, Over the years, many have claimed the Garden of Eden has been found. Of course the location of each "discovery" is in a different location. The Bible describes the area around the Garden in Genesis 2, even using recognizable place names such as Ethiopia. It mentions a spring in the Garden which parts into four major rivers, including the Euphrates. This has led many, including Bible scholars, to conclude that the Garden of Eden was somewhere in the middle eastern area known today as the Tigris-Euphrates River Valley, with its remains long ago vanishing. It is also true that this area (the "fertile crescent") was the location of the ancient Tower of Babel and the patriarch Abraham's home in the city of Ur. Without a doubt, the Tigris-Euphrates River Valley plays a unique role in Biblical history, but was it the location of the Garden of Eden? I think not. First, let's examine the Biblical information. While the Tigres and Euphrates both have their headwaters in the area surrounding Mt. Ararat, they do not flow from a source like the spokes on a wheel, filling the land as mentioned. Nor are the other two rivers present and none go to Ethiopia. Furthermore, the mineral deposits mentioned bear no resemblance to those in this area. In short, the geography and descriptions don't match. The key is in recognizing that through the Flood of Noah's day, "the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished" (II Peter 3:6). As described in Genesis 6-9, the Flood would have totally restructured the surface of the globe. It would have done what major floods do—erode the land surface in one area and redeposit those sediments elsewhere. Biblically, the Flood covered the planet with processes operating at rates, scales, and intensities far beyond those possible today. No place on Earth could have survived untouched. These sediments would have been full of organic debris, which over time would either fossilize or metamorphose into oil and gas. The sediments would harden into sedimentary rock, in places bending into mountains or breaking along fault systems. Today, the Tigris-Euphrates River Valley contains sediments over two miles thick, from which are pumped enormous quantities of oil and gas. The sediments, now rock, are dramatically bent into modern mountains as well as subsurface mountains, and brutally broken by major fault systems. They deeply cover and obscure any possible pre-flood locations. Furthermore, the basement rock, if indeed it was present before the Flood, would have likely undergone erosion also. No present topography or underground surface could possibly bear any resemblance to the pre-flood world. That world is gone! Noah and his family would have encountered the present-day Tigris and Euphrates Rivers soon after leaving the Ark. As their descendants migrated, they would give familiar names to the new rivers and places. God placed an angel at the entrance to the Garden to keep pre-flood men from returning. The Flood made even that precaution unnecessary. by John D. Morris, Ph.D. © Copyright 2002 Institute for Creation Research. All Rights Reserved. God Bless |

87 | Is sickness from satan? | Job 2:7 | inmyheart | 83299
mommapbs Paul's thorn. "...There was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me…" (2 Corinthians 12:7). This verse is frequently used by ministers to prove that sickness can be the will of God, and that Paul was sick. First of all, even if Paul was sick, it is no proof that it was the will of God. David committed murder and adultery – was that the will of God? Judas betrayed Jesus – was that a moral act? Just because someone in the Bible did something does not automatically make it right. Even Satan is in the Bible. You have to read the implied principles from the experiences of biblical character as well as the directly stated principles in the Bible. Nevertheless, Paul was really a solid proof of the supernatural healing power of God – even in his experience. Many Christians have been deceived in this area. Notice Paul says he had "a thorn in the flesh." The words "scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes" in Joshua 23:13 are used to describe people; the words "thorns in your sides" in Judges 2:3 are also used the same way. Since when did it become a sickness? Paul was simply using an expression commonly used in those days. When you say, "Tom is a pain in the neck," you are talking about a person that bothers or annoys you, not a sickness. To further confirm that, Paul says the thorn was "a messenger of Satan." This tells us it was a person or demon, and that he was from Satan, not God. What Paul experienced was most likely persecution from people (inspired by Satan). Most of them followed Paul around to preach circumcision to the people right after Paul leaves a city. Some even reacted to Paul's preaching with physical violence. This is why the evil spirit or "messenger" was a "thorn in the flesh," or a "pain in the neck." You need to know the truth about the biblical passages that have been used to preach sickness. Many times those passages are some of the greatest proofs for healing. Some of them prove neither healing or sickness – just the need for wisdom. For example, if the Bible says that someone accidentally fell off a building and died, does that prove sickness, or that it is not God's will to heal and protect? No, it proves the need for wisdom and caution. By the way, this happened and Paul resurrected the dead man by the power of God (Acts 20:9-12). mommapbs, the above is from a previous post, I believe the thread was on healing. It's been some time since I come across one of your post! I enjoy your input, always refreshing. God bless |

89 | John 5:24-25, Verily, Verily I say unto | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83236
mallen, It is a sad, sad shame that Jesus isn’t recognized enough in the world that He could just say, "Verily," and everybody would listen. But when the Lord wants our attention, He is willing to become like a nobody in order to try to grab hold of our minds, so He says, "Verily, verily…." Back in the Old Testament when God wanted Abraham to do something, He said, "Abraham, Abraham." When God wanted Jacob, He said, "Jacob, Jacob." In the book of I Samuel, chapter 3, the Lord spoke to little Samuel: "Samuel, Samuel." When He spoke to Saul on the road to Damascus, He said, "Saul, Saul." When He spoke to Simon Peter in Luke 22, He said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee." When Jesus hung on the cross of Calvary, He cried out, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" He says to us, "Verily, verily: What I am about to say is doubly important." He is trying to get our attention, like blowing a horn or tapping on a glass. You have noticed that over public address systems at some places, like hospitals, any announcement is always repeated. 90 | Will God bless a union if sex before mar | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83234
mmmsm, If You Have Already Gone Too Far, Why Stop? God is forgiving. 1 John 1:9 tells us that God is faithful and just to forgive our sins if we confess them. You can start fresh with God anytime you want to. God is holy. His word tells us that sexual sin is wrong, and He knows what is best. God is caring. God knows that going too far before marriage tends to break up couples and leads to less happy marriages. He knows that most guys do not want to marry a girl who has been intimate with someone else. graceful, Thank you for your reply. 1 John 4:1 says that we are not to believe every spirit, but to test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world, it amaze me that other members on this forum (I'll get a lot of feed back on this one) don't know how to test every spirit. In the next verse (2) says how to test the spirits, "This is how you can recongnize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God"...you and I acknowledge Jesus in our lives, don't they recongnize this, so what's up with that? Just because they don't love us, doesn't mean we don't love them, amen! I believe in ALL the promises of God, they are "YES" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2Cor.1:20-22. Graceful, thank you again, it's a pleasure. I close with 1 Cor. 15:57-58 "But thanks be to God! He give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear bothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that you labor in the Lord is not in vain." God bless |

Hank-- I was out of town for ten days and I come back to this thread. Can you believe what has happened here? So let me sum this up, you don't love Kenneth Copeland! (to put it mildly), Oh well, it still doesn't change the fact that Kenneth is a brother, he has Christ in his life and the blood of Christ has set him free, just as Christ has set you and me free. Since this thread has been restricted, I'll look forward to interact with you, in a Christian spirit, with respect and grace at another time. I look forward to the day when these ridiculous attacks and with lies, half-truths, misrepresentations and insults being used as the primary weapons will cease. When the body of Christ can come together on one accord we will then be able to collectively defeat our common enemy, Satan. God bless 1 Corinthians 2:5 |

Raidoman2, You judge and attack men of God and then you push your recommended web site? I went to Kenneth Copeland's web site and this is his mission statement: The mission of Kenneth Copeland Ministries and Eagle Mountain International Church is to teach Christians worldwide who they are in Christ Jesus and how to live a victorious life in their covenant rights and privileges. The fulfillment of that mission takes place when those believers become rooted and grounded enough in God's Word to reach out and teach others these same principles. We are called to lead people, primarily born-again believers, to the place where they operate proficiently in the biblical principles of faith, love, healing, prosperity, redemption and righteousness, and to the place where they can share those principles with others. We are called to assist believers in becoming rooted, grounded and established in the Word of God by teaching them to give God's Word first place in their lives (Colossians 1:23, Psalm 112). We are called to reveal the mysteries, the victorious revelations of God's Word, that have been hidden from the ages (Colossians 1:25-28). We are called to build an army of mature believers, bringing them from milk to meat, from religion to reality. We are called to train them to become skillful in the word of righteousness, to stand firm in the spiritual warfare against the kingdom of darkness (Hebrews 5:12-14, Ephesians 6:10-18). We are called to proclaim that "Jesus Is Lord" from the top of the world to the bottom and all the way around. The vision is being accomplished through the ministry efforts of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, Eagle Mountain International Church and staff on a worldwide scale through the local church and the use of television, campaigns, conventions, books, tapes, recordings and personal correspondence and is multiplied through the financial support of other ministries of like purpose. Before you continue your campaign to discourage others, why not read what Kenneth has to say, here is his site; http://www.kcm.org/ God bless |

99 | Can you fall from grace? | John 5:24 | inmyheart | 81688
I agree with your post. However, can you fall from grace by eliminating Col.1:23, or what happens if you don't "indeed continue in the faith?" We are MEMBERS OF HIS BODY, OF HIS FLESH-Eph 5:30. One may ask, "How can we become separated, and not be members of His body?" The answer, again, is given by God’s Word. THOU STANDEST BY FAITH. If we depart from faith, we depart from being members of His body. |

100 | Did Jesus visit hell when he died on the | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 81667
Thank you for clarifying that. Now to your post. One of the most puzzling questions for a lot of Christians is how are we to understand 1st Peter 3:18 where it says that by Christ's death and his resurrection (being made alive), He went and preached unto the spirits in prison. There are many who theorize unrighteously that these verses speak of a purgatory, or some spirit-world of the imprisoned lost. This is totally contrary to all that scripture declares. The Bible is perfectly clear that whatever spiritual condition a person dies in, whether Saved or unsaved, is the condition that he will stand before God in judgement. There is no possibility for a second chance at redemption after death. Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Once man dies, his chance for redemption is over. We are judged for what we do in this world, and we receive Salvation by Christ in this world, not the next. In the Parable of Lazarus, Jesus makes it clear that there is a great gulf fixed (luke 16:26) where one cannot pass from one side to the other. If we die unsaved, that is the condition which we will remain in. In this brief study we will take a careful look at these verses and let the Holy Spirit of God reveal his truth to us. For in all honesty, no one else can. 1st Peter 3:18-20 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit: by which also He went and preached unto the saints in prison; which sometimes were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the Ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." These are indeed difficult passages, but we can begin to come to an understanding of what they mean when we follow what it says "in the light of the rest of scripture," with no preconceived ideas about it. Remember, the Bible was not of any private interpretation of the Saints of old, nor is it subject to our private interpretation today. 2nd Peter 1:20-21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Every Word is inspired of God, and thus cannot be subject to man's personal interpretation by what seems right in his own eyes. God's Word is it's own interpreter. It cannot be led or guided, it must be followed and received. Only through the Holy Spirit and the careful comparing of (and study in) scriptures, will we ever come to the true understanding of what it truly says. I believe that if we do this, we will find that what it says in this chapter is that that by Christ's death in the flesh and being made alive in the Spirit, He went and preached to the spirits in prison. With these humble beginnings, it is now a matter of defining "biblical terms". As you see there is no short answer. Let me know if this is what you are seeking. God bless |
