81 | Where are these words coming from? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 127856
Hi Theo-Minor, Thanks for the references. Here are comparisons that I have made. I ask for your comments. 2 Timothy 1:6, "And for this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of (God) which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner;..." 1 John 4:2, "By this you know the *spirit of (God): every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God:.." The spirit is the gift of God, the Giver. From the heart, Ray |

82 | What is God's major attribute? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 129562
Hi Steve, I think also that holiness is God's major attribute. I need to spend some time yet in deciding if that is His name as well. Scripture tells us that His name is Holy, and His name is Jealous. However, in Isaiah 6:3, I believe that the verse is indeed speaking of His attributes. "Holy, Holy, Holy" is the Lord of hosts." Yet we can see the triune God in verse 8 as well for the "who will go for Us" refers back to my mind to the holy Lord of hosts of verse 3. The verses that Hiskid84 has given you are interesting to compare. In Isaiah 6:8 we hear Isaiah saying "Here am I. Send me." In Matthew 13:15 I see that God's Son was sent and we can understand that it is He who would heal. Revelation 6:10 says, "How long, of Lord*, holy and true, wilt (Thou) refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" Isaiah 6:3 has Isaiah saying, "Then I said, "Lord*, how long?" And (He) answered,..." From the heart, Ray |

83 | when do you recieve the holy spirit | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 132992
Hi Judy22859, I see that you are one of the many here on the forum with broken shift keys and are unable to make capital letters. Seriously, if you want to understand the Scriptures you must be aware of capitalization. The Holy Spirit is a (p)Person. Since He is deity, His name is capitalized. However, not all words of "spirit" are talking of this Person. The Scriptures talk of the angels and very often the interpretation/version talks of the Spirit. But I would say that angels are spirits and God is Spirit. So again I suggest that you find that shift key, O.K.? 1) The Greek and Hebrew are languages that do not give us help in capitalization; we must look at context and be led by the Holy Spirit. 2) However, I for one look at the Scriptures and have penciled in the occurances of "receiving the *holy [sic] *spirit [sic]" and "filled with the *holy *spirit" in the lower case. Consider Romans 8:10 and you will have the choice of lower or upper case (s)Spirit. Romans 8:10, NASB, "And if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the *spirit is alive because of righteousness." Romans 8:10, NKJ, "And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." From the heart, Ray |

84 | A New Perspective!??! | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 133263
Hi Country Girl, Yes, that was deep thinking on your part. I agree with you in principal; that it is important to know the beginning and the end. However, we do not have a God of confusion. In post #122619 this same "phenomenal" power was mentioned, along with a sentence with a misspelled word concerning what they were rdgdnig. So that was something less than phenomenal (phanomenal) also. I think that it is amazing that we can read so well in the situation where the letters are mixed. I would think that it would be more difficult in languages that are not read one word after another as English is. Certainly, letters can be mixed up and we can figure them out to get the words. However, if we mix up numbers then we could not determine the correct figures. But as I said at the first, our God is a God of order. He created everything in order. And if we wanted to argue a case before Him we would have to state our case in order before His eyes. Is that deep or what? Isaiah 44:7, "And who is like (Me)? Let him proclaim and declare it; Yes let him recount it to Me in order, From the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare to them the things that are coming And the events that are going to take place." Psalm 50:21, "These things you have done, and I kept silence; You thought that (I ) was just like you; I will reprove you, and state the case in order before your eyes." From the heart, Ray |

86 | what is the spirit of delusion? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 135487
Hi herrubies, Welcome to the forum. If you have a profile or update to offer, please do that. I agree with EdB that the Scriptures do not speak of a spirit of delusion. And certainly in the view of capitalizing Deity there would be no Spirit of Delusion. Our God is spoken of as the Spirit of truth in the Scriptures. However, the name of Satan is capitalized because it is a name given him. And he is spoken of in some translations as the Lawless One. The Scripture that I would offer to you explaining this spirit would be 2 Thessalonians 2:8. 2 Thess 2:8, KJ, "And then shall the Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:" 2 Thess 2:8, NASB, "And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming," I personally would go with the NASB and the "lawless one" who is Satan. 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says that he is even going to display himself as being God, but of course he is not, although he is spoken of as the god of this world. But we as believers are looking for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to (Him). 2 Thess 2:1. There are other Scriptures: Delude: Colossians 2:4, James 1:22 Deluded: Isaiah 19:13, Isaiah 47:10 Delusion: Jeremiah 10:3, 8 But the Lord is the true God: He is the living God and the everlasting (King). 87 | Who did God create in Genesis 1:27-28? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 137190
Hi Doc Trinsograce, I agree with your opinion. I would say further that the first chapter of Genesis tells us about the triune God being involved in creation. The chapter talks about the things that the Spirit of God did and what He said. The chapter has a total of pronouns that is divisible by three. This is noteworthy, I believe. After this introductory first chapter, the second chapter goes on and talks about how the Lord God made earth and heaven and goes on in detail and is more chronological. Is the number of pronouns of Deity in chapter one of signifcance to you? From the heart, Ray |

88 | The laws of the bible in todays world | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 137194
Hi juls, This was a well written letter that she wrote, I would say. But what is this forum coming to when the advice given you is to ignore it? You have expressed yourself concerning the sacrifices and how Jesus is the our sacrificial Lamb. I believe that is a good start for influencing her. Leviticus 1:3, "If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer it, a male without defect; he shall offer it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted of the (Lord)." Leviticus 16:18, "Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the (Lord) and make atonement for it,..." These sacrifices were in the old covenant. Compare/contrast that with Heb 9:15. Hebrews 9:15, "And for this reason (He) is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance." 1) If the writer's main objective is to have us believe that homosexuality is NOT an abomination anymore, then she should look at the New Testament further. 2) I have found Leviticus to be one of the more straightforward books for showing the triune God according to its pronouns of Deity. For instance, one can compare Leviticus with Genesis in their first chapters noting that the total of pronouns is divisible by three. From the heart, Ray |

Hi juls, This is my first involvement in a thread dealing with homosexuality. Typing in "homosexuality" in the quick search top right corner showed me that there were at least 100 posts in the forum archives already. So I don't think we have to discuss too much here unless you want to. I am curious about whether the writer is a female as you said in your second post. Was this a letter written by a female friend of yours or was your copy just one of many being circulated by someone else and your friend gave this one to you? I believe that it was this idea of other copies being circulating that distressed me about ignoring it. But my friends have made good points and I too would say that the way to know God's will is to first know the Lord. Your friend or the writer of the letter needs to study the New Testament as well as she did the Old Covenant. Romans 1:26, 1 Cor 6:9-11, 1 Timothy 1:10, and Jude 1:7 are verses often quoted in the discussions here. Best wishes and love to everyone here on the thread. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Kalos, A Lteral Translation of the Holy Bible, 1985,1995, 1996 by Jay P. Green, Sr is in the margin of an Interlinear Greek-English New Testament that I use. It uses capitalization of Deity similar to the NASB and NKJ so I would recommend that book as a gift. :) From the heart, Ray |

92 | Does all scripture mean the same to all | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 140997
Hi Karenc, Welcome to the forum. When you talk about interpretation of the Scriptures and you talk Isaiah 49, I think about capitalization of pronouns. How much of the chapter is talking about the people (servants) and which verses are talking about the Servant (the Redeemer of Israel)? Various groups of translators, each seeking direction from the Holy Spirit, have interpreted differently in various versions of translation. Who is the chosen one, the servant or the Servant? Isaiah 49:26, "And I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, And they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And all flesh will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob." An example of different interpretations, which are still being discussed, debated, and continually being studied to reach a definite (unchanging truth) answer. Which of the two versions below would you choose for verses 2-4? Isaiah 49:2, NASB, "And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me; And He has also made Me a select arrow; He has hidden Me in His quiver. 3 And He said to Me, "You are My Servant, Israel, In Whom I will show My glory. 4 But I said, "I have toiled in vain, I have spent My strength for nothing and vanity; Yet surely the justice due to Me is with the Lord, And My reward with My God." The NKJ, on the other hand, has a different interpretation and places verses three and four in quotation marks (thus, distinguishing between the Servant and the servant for those verses). Isaiah 49:2, NKJ, "And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made Me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me." 3 "And He said to me, 'You are My servant, O Israel, In whom I will be gloried.' 4 Then I said, 'I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the Lord, And my work with my God.'" Which interpretation, NASB or NKJ, would you go with for these verses? From the heart, Ray |

94 | Why is history repeated in Genesis? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 143477
Hi DocTrinsograce, I look at patterns also. Proverbs 9:10, "The fear of the *Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Numbers 24:16, "The oracle of him who hears the words [literally, sayings] of *God, And knows the knowledge of the Most High." John 6:63, ".."the words that *I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe and who it was that would betray Him." Proverbs 2:5-8 Proverbs 3:7, "Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the *Lord and turn away from evil. Proverbs 11:1 Proverbs 15:9 Proverbs 15:33, "The fear of the *Lord is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility." Proverbs 20:12, "The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The *Lord has made both of them." Proverbs 21:2, "Every man's way is right in his own eyes, But the *Lord weighs the hearts." Just some of the repetitions and thoughts to consider in knowing Proverbs 9:10. From the heart, Ray |

95 | How's praying in the Holy Spirit tongues | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 148504
Hi Searcher, The Mark 7:32-37 passage is an interesting incident where the bond of his tongue was loosed. First of all his ears were opened, and the the impediment of his tongue was removed, and he began to speak plainly. Could it be that in the same way the Spirit helps our weakness? First we hear the word, then we speak the word; "speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the *Lord." Ephesians 5:19. Because *He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:27. ******* Romans 8:26, "...but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;" Mark 7:37, "And they were utterly astonished, saying, "He has done all things well; He makes even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak." 96 | How's praying in the Holy Spirit tongues | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 148514
Hi Steve, It is difficult to attribute to one Person this passage. Verse 26 says that the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings; however we know that Christ Jesus also intercedes for us, verse 34. And of course we know that God is Spirit. Verse 28 tells us that "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." I would think of God the Father for verse 28, wouldn't you? What then shall we say about these things? Let's just say, "If God is for us, who is against us?" Romans 8:31. As for Mark, I would say that God is one; but yes, Jesus is the One who healed while looking up to heaven. He was doing the works of His Father. He and the Father are one. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Steve, It is difficult for all of us to understand God; and the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. But you have searched and found Him and you belong to Him. I appreciate all that you have done and are doing on the forum. 1) I believe that God is Spirit. An angel is a spirit. 2) I believe that God is Light and He said "I am the Light of the world." John 9:5. We are to be lights in the world, "giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light." Col 1:12. 3) I believe that there are too many words and meanings for "love" for us to say that God is Love." God is love: 1 John 4:16, "And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." 4) We'll have to ask our Greek scholars about Romans 8:28, but I believe that Theos is always plural. 98 | How's praying in the Holy Spirit tongues | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 148568
Hi Doc, Everyone is welcome to jump into a middle of a discussion. A couple questions, though. You wrote, "Then, He grants us His Holy Spirit, by Whom our very nature is changed so that we can believe these truths." What Scripture did you have in mind for this sentence? 1) Is "orthodox" the word you wanted to use when you gave us "The orthodox Christian take on the passages"? The King James for John 4:24 reads "God is a Spirit". Would you say that that version was not giving the orthodox view for the verse? The NASB for 1 John 1:5 has a copyright change. "God is light" was changed to "God is Light." Should we beware the version as now being unorthodox? I think not. I would say that the "jury is still out" and that Christians have not decided yet how it should be; lower or upper case. 2) I think that 1 John 1:5 compared with 1 Timothy 6:16 would be a meaningful study. 1 John 1:6, NASB, 1995, "If we say we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He **Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin." 1 Timothy 6:16, NKJ, "who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable **(l)Light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen." I enjoy talking about these "things" and hope you do also. God richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17. From the heart, Ray |
