21 | Considering the "senses" | Not Specified | Ray | 148063
In praying to God in the early morning hours of this morning, I thanked Him for my five senses; sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste. I also thought of other common senses known to man; sense of worth, sense of accomplishment, sense of humor. What sense and Scripture come to your mind when considering these things? 22 | In Him? | Not Specified | Ray | 149318
Colossians 1:14 revisited; reference #137300. In comparing Colossians 1:14 with Ephesians 1:7 I agree with the TR text and the addition of "through His blood" for Colossians 1:14. I would then see the passages as a perfect match. Colossians 1:14, In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Ephesians 1:7, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,..." Any thoughts? From the heart, Ray |

23 | His holy and great name. | Not Specified | Ray | 152990
This is a question for a Hebrew scholar perhaps. Which translation do you prefer for Ezekiel 36:23? NASB, "I will vindicate the holiness of My name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord," declares the Lord God, "when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight." NKJ, "And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord," says the Lord God, "when I am hollowed in you before their eyes." "When I prove Myself holy among you in their sight." OR "When I am hollowed in you before their eyes." From the heart, Ray |

Hi Aixen7z4, Isaiah 59:2, "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your (God), And your sins have..." 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man is in (Christ) he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." 2 Corinthians 5:20, "Therefore, we are ambassadors for (Christ),..." 2 Corinthians 6:1, "...we also urge you not to receive the grace of (God) in vain--" Hebrews 7:26, NKJ, "For such a High (Priest) was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless [innocent], undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests,..." Hebrews 7:22, "so much the more also (Jesus) has become the guarantee of a better covenant. And the former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers, because they were prevented by death from continuing, but He, on the other hand, because He abides forever, holds His priesthood permanently." Hebrews 8:6b, "...by as much as (He) is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises." Hebrews 9:15, "And for this reason (He) is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it." Hebrews 9:28, "so (Christ) also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin,..." 1 Peter 2:24, "and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by (His) wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls." Isaiah 53:12b, "...Because He poured out (Himself) to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors." Isaiah 54:5, "For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the Lord of hosts. And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the (God) of all the earth. Isaiah 54:8b, "But with everlasting lovingkindness I will have compassion on you," Says the Lord your (Redeemer)." The parentheses of course are mine for comparisons of the verses. When I put these facts together, I see a holy God who was numbered with the transgressors and for a brief moment (see Isaiah 54:7) felt the forsaking that a man would feel. But He remained the Son of Man, even the Man crying out "My (God), My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" Matthew 27:46. Matthew 27:47, NKJ,"Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, "This Man is calling for Elijah!" Matthew 27:49, NASB, "But the rest of them said, "Let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him." Matthew 27:43, "He trusts in God; let (Him) deliver Him now, if He takes pleasure in Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.'" And the robbers also who had been crucified with Him were casting the same insult at (Him)." Hebrews 10:29, "How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the (Spirit) of grace?" 25 | GOD TURNED HIS BACK ON JESUS WHEN JESUS | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 94813
Hi graceful, It is a mystery why God would die in our place. But I would have to agree with Radioman that we will not find in the Scriptures that He "became sin". I typed those words in the Search Bible Text here at the forum and it wasn't there. I didn't find it in my concordance anywhere. In looking at Psalm 22 right now, I reaffirm my choice of the NASB over the NKJ for that Psalm. The NKJ capitalizes the pronouns throughout, but when I consider verse 6 I can not agree with that interpretation. Psalm 22:6, "But I am a worm, and not a man,..." The NKJ does not capitalize "worm", and that is good, but that verse alone tells me that the main thrust of the Psalm is about David himself. And again, any forsakenness that Jesus would have felt would be that of a man [sic]. Psalm 22:19, "But Thou, O Lord, be not far off; O Thou my help, hasten to my assistance." John 8:55, "and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him;..." From the heart, Ray |

Hi DarcyA, Thank you for this verse in 2 Corinthians. I had read it today and had quoted the verse prior to it in one of my posts, but it didn't come to my mind when I was talking to graceful. An interesting verse to compare with 2 Corinthians 5:21 is Ephesians 2:15. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 we see the word "made" and in Ephesians 2:15 the word "make" or literally "create". So the idea of 2 Corinthians isn't that God FORCED or "made" Him to be sin on our behalf. We are reconciled to God because He was the fulfilment of the Law and sin comes from the Law. As the NASB says, "He has committed to us the word of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5:20, "be reconciled to God". Ephesians 2:15, NASB, alternate reading, "the enmity, by abolishing in His flesh the Law." Ephesians 2:15b, "...that in Himself He might make [create] the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,..." Ephesians 4:22, "that in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self [literally, man],...and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self [man], which in the likeness of God has been CREATED in righteousness and holiness of the truth." 27 | FEAR OF THE LORD MEANING | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 95663
Hi Reformer Joe, When I think of Psalm 33:8 I think of the Spirit. When I think of the Lord God and the Lord Jesus I know that they are one Lord. Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people whom He has chosen for **His own inheritance." Psalm 33:9, "For **He spoke, and it was done;..." Matthew 8:16b, "...and **He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill in order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, "He Himself took our infirmities, and carried away our diseases." John 10:30, "I and the Father are one." We can tell NEWBIBLESTUDENT to continue reading Psalm 33 to understand that if we trust in His holy name then we do not feel scared but we hope for His lovingkindness and look to be His own inheritance. Psalm 34:7, "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear **Him, And rescues them." Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the Lord at all times; **His praise shall continually be in my mouth." BTW, hello Cyclist, I don't remember hearing from you lately. Let us exalt His name together. From the heart, Ray |

28 | Searching for thr truth | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 100765
Hi FytRobert, I think that 1 John 3:16-24 would be a good passage to look at the love of God and the spirit of love that we should have for each other. Verse 16, King James, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because *He laid down *His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren." I starred the pronouns because in the King James those pronouns are not capitalized. The New King James which capitalizes pronouns of Deity does not have the word "God" in its version. Some manuscripts do not include the word "God" and the NASB also does not include it. For my personal copy I have penciled in "We know the love of God/ by this..." The book stresses that God/ is love and He/ is righteous to my mind. Verse 24 I interpret as "And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And we know by this that He/ abides in us, by the *spirit which He has given us." To my mind that spirit is the spirit of love. Verse 16: We know the love of God/ by this... Verse 24: And we know by this that He/ abides in us... Verse 23: And this is His/ commandment... 1) I think that we have to differentiate between the truth of the word of God and the Truth who is the Word. 2) Verse 19, we are of the truth and assure our hearts before "it". We love in deed and truth. And if our heart doesn't condemn us, we have confidence before "Him". From the heart, Ray |

29 | Holy Spirit question on mysterious ways | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 103872
Hi cliffk, I didn't find it in a concordance, did you? Thanks for your question even if no one finds it for you. It led me to the book of Daniel. Daniel 2:47, NASB, "The king answered Daniel and said, "Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery." Nebuchadnezzar said in Daniel 3:2, NASB, "It has seemed good to me to declare the signs and wonders which the Most High God has done for me. 3 "How great are His signs, And how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation." Daniel 4:8,9, NKJ, "But at last Daniel came before me (his name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god; in him is the Spirit of the Holy God), and I told the dream before him saying: 9 "Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Spirit of the Holy God is in you, and no secret troubles you, [no mystery baffles you, NASB] explain to me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation." Also see 1 Corinthians 2:4-16. 1 Corinthians 2:10, "For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God." I hope this was of interest to you. From the heart, Ray |

30 | Holy Spirit question on mysterious ways | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 103927
Hi Radioman2, You are right of course. But I am enjoying the Scriptures and the conversation, aren't you? We can continue with Michael Draves' quote in Isaiah. Isaiah 55:9ff, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it." 32 | Who are the Prophets who ate books? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 107146
Hi Ironlips, I think that the scroll or the words of God are freely given to us as well. We should eat the Bread of life. Ezekiel 2:7, "But you shall speak (My) words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious. Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you." 1 Cor 2:12, NKJ, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual." Ezekiel 3:4, "Then He said to me, "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with (My) words to them...But I have sent you to them who should listen to you;" John 8:43, "Why do you not understand what I am saying to you?? It is because you do not hear My word." From the heart, Ray |

Hi punkiedo, You said that "Jesus was the wave walker". Don't forget that the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water as early as Genesis 1:2. 1) I was comparing Job 9:5-10 with 1 Corinthians 13 and 14 this morning using the NASB. Both passages talk about moving mountains. And I see both passages as having five words spoken with the mind. From the heart, Ray |

34 | Trinity Doctrine? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 107635
Hi Norm, I have a question for you. By whose authority did Jesus do the things that He did? I am thinking about John 12:49,50 and others. John 12:49,50, "For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me commandment, what to say, and what to speak. And I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me." Matthew 28:19, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." [Just as the Father has told Me]. From the heart, Ray |

35 | how do you deal with unrequited feelings | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 107833
Hi BNBRIONES, You don't have to apologize for asking a question. Just because the forum isn't here for counsel doesn't mean that we can't suggest some Scriptures for you. After talking with that Christian counsellor, come back to talk about the Scriptures he gave you. Here are some that came to my mind. Psalm 32:8, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye." Proverbs 3:5,6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Hope that helps. Hi guys, I suppose that you are looking at baptism in these verses. However, in comparing the passages I contemplated on how everything has been subjected to Him after He went into heaven. Mark 16:15, "And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it shall not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." 19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was RECEIVED UP INTO HEAVEN, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed." 1 Peter 3:21, "And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who is at the right hand of God, HAVING GONE INTO HEAVEN, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him. 4:1, "Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God." Hi Makarios, It is good to think about Christ's dominion. I reflected on Scriptures today and considered narrowing down the dominion to one pronoun. 1 Peter 3:22, "...having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to *Him." Mark 16:19, "So when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, *He was received up into heaven, ..." Colossians 2:10, "and in *Him you have been made complete,..." Philippians 2:9, "Therefore also God highly exalted *Him,..." Ephesians 1:23, "...the fullness of *Him who fills all in all." Matthew 26:64, "...hereafter you will see the *Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." Daniel 7:27, "Then the sovereignty, the dominion, and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; *His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him." Isaiah 9:6, "...a *Son will be given to us." 1 Peter 5:11, "To *Him be dominion forever and ever." 1 Peter 3:22, "...subjected to *Him." Hebrews 2:8, "...left nothing that is not subject to **Him." John 3:35, "The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into *His hand." Matthew 8:27, "What kind of a Man is this that even the winds of the sea obey *Him?" Mark 1:27, "*He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him." However we understand the pronouns of our triune God, He is the true God who is worthy of our praise. From the heart, Ray |

38 | name Jehovah | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 110816
Hi EdB, You quoted Exodus 3:15 for expressing the name of God, that is, saying that He is the Lord God. He is indeed the "Lord God," NKJ, or "The Lord, the God of your fathers", NASB, or "Jehovah the God of your forefathers," NWT. However, I was surprised that you did not quote verses 13 and 14 for God said to Moses "I AM WHO I AM". Who sent Moses? Moses says in verse 13 "The God of your fathers has sent me to you." What he is told to tell them is, "I AM has sent me to you." That brings out the importance of verses like John 14:6 to the Christian believer. From the heart, Ray |

39 | name Jehovah | Bible general Archive 2 | Ray | 110846
Hi Kalos, When we are typing concerning the Lord God, we are at a disadvantage because we can not have the various forms that the NASB utilizes. We have available "Lord" and "LORD", while they have an added dimension of a "L" that extends above the "ORD". They have a typing word form that we do not have available. The word "YHWH" was written in the English Bibles as "LORD" as your post states. But it was used to distinguish not only "LORD" from "lord", but also "LORD" from "Lord". They wanted to get away from a confusion of writing about the Lord Lord, or God God and so in their typing wrote about the LORD God. That is my understanding. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Kalos, As a counter of pronouns I was interested in your fact that the name occurs 6,828 times. If asked, I would have predicted that the total times would be divisible by three. However, I am surprised that there are not three more occurances. From the heart, Ray |
