First, you need to re-read Matthew 12:1-14. Secondly, How can man make any day? (please don’t answer) Brother I believe I have been patient and kind in dealing with your rhetoric. You cannot and will not provoke me to anger on such a glorious day as this, and truly, every day with Christ is glorious. To me, and I’m being honest here, I’m viewing you as the experts of the law were viewed. You miss the whole Spirit of the Law and blindly want to follow the blind. Learn what love is my friend; learn whole-heartedly just what your Savior has done for you. Peace to you WOS |

Stj, From Easton’s Bible Dictionary: “In New Testament times the prophetical office was continued. Our Lord is frequently spoken of as a prophet (Luk_13:33; Luk_24:19). He was and is the great Prophet of the Church. There was also in the Church a distinct order of prophets (1Co_12:28; Eph_2:20; Eph_3:5), who made new revelations from God. They differed from the “teacher,” whose office it was to impart truths already revealed.” I’ll also provide the following, focusing on verse 22: Deuteronomy 18:18-22: 18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. 20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. 21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. And then: John 2:18 –19: 18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Acts 10:39 – 41: 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; 41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. Did he not foretell the future and… on more than one occasion, accurately? Those with Him also understood: John 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. Here is something interesting from Matthew Henry regarding John 6:14: “III. Here is the influence which this miracle had upon the people who tasted of the benefit of it (Joh_6:14): They said, This is of a truth that prophet. Note, 1. Even the vulgar Jews with great assurance expected the Messiah to come into the world, and to be a great prophet, They speak here with assurance of his coming. The Pharisees despised them as not knowing the law; but, it should seem, they knew more of him that is the end of the law than the Pharisees did. 2. The miracles which Christ wrought did clearly demonstrate that he was the Messiah promised, a teacher come from God, the great prophet, and could not but convince the amazed spectators that this was he that should come. There were many who were convinced he was that prophet that should come into the world who yet did not cordially receive his doctrine, for they did not continue in it. Such a wretched incoherence and inconsistency there is between the faculties of the corrupt unsanctified soul, that it is possible for men to acknowledge that Christ is that prophet, and yet to turn a deaf ear to him.” So to answer your question, yes He is a prophet and He is a prophet, great among all prophets. He is our Lord and God as well. Stand in His grace, WOS |

I’m assuming you are referring to discussing this particular topic??? If I’m wrong, then there are many of us who should hang it up for a while for in our passion, we have many strongholds that need weakened as well and our good brothers and sisters who participate in this forum can be used by God for that very purpose. Be strong in the Lord and continue to seek His wisdom and knowledge while relying on Him and His promises. Ephesians 4:11 – 15: 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: I know that I have much growing to be done and actually look forward to it. 87 | God love the senner but hate the sin | NT general | Wild Olive Shoot | 202741
Dear gospel, Welcome to the forum. I noticed in your rather long post, that not once did you refer to homosexuality as being sinful. Is it your position that it is not? Aren’t we called to edify others and inform them when they might be missing the mark, or am I not understanding what scriptures teach concerning admonishing, teaching or rebuking or edifying? 1Thesollonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 2Timothy 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2John 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. Sometimes harsh answers aren’t necessarily harsh but simply the truth viewed as being harsh. I would much rather someone be harsh and truthful and have a concern for the well being of my soul than have them not want to offend and not properly instruct me in fear of hurting my feelings. “Scripture is not a weapon”? With what shall I defend myself with then? Ephesians 6:13-20: 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. For someone who claims not to think too highly of the doctrines of men, you sure so hold onto them tight enough. We are all sinners friend, declared so by the sovereign God. That's a fact. Hey Hoppy, I too am a Westminster sort of guy, I think? I think Chapters 10 and 17 address the question at the top of this thread. I think the site reference you made however was perfectly fine. I just thought a different section addressed the question better. But that’s how I view the once saved always saved, sort of as a prelude to election and perseverance. The phrase itself doesn’t really explain much, but it should lead us into digging deeper into the individual doctrines. I think your reference was fine. Stand in His grace, WOS |

Dear Cheri, I think we need to understand, that the natural branches weren’t simply cut off to make “room” for the gentiles, but because of their “unbelief”. Unbelief on our part will result in the same. That’s the warning isn’t it? However, God’s elect will never be permanently cut off. As with the natural braches removed God can graft them back in. Romans 11:23 And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. Matthew Henry puts this into perspective that might be easier to understand. By God’s grace we are brought in and by His strength we stand: “Grace is given, not to make us proud, but to make us thankful. The law of faith excludes all boasting either of ourselves or against others. “Do not say (Rom_11:19): They were broken off that I might be grafted in; that is, do not think that thou didst merit more at the hand of God than they, or didst stand higher in his favour.” “But remember, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Though thou art grafted in, thou art still but a branch borne by the root; nay, and an engrafted branch, brought into the good olive contrary to nature (Rom_11:24), not free-born, but by an act of grace enfranchised and naturalized.”… …“By what means thou standest: By faith, which is a depending grace, and fetches in strength from heaven. Thou dost not stand in any strength of thy own, of which thou mightest be confident: thou art no more than the free grace of God makes thee, and his grace is his own, which he gives or withholds at pleasure. That which ruined them was unbelief, and by faith thou standest; therefore thou hast no faster hold than they had, thou standest on no firmer foundation than they did.” [2.] “On what terms (Rom_11:22): Towards thee goodness, if thou continue in his goodness, that is, continue in a dependence upon and compliance with the free grace of God, the want of which it was that ruined the Jews - if thou be careful to keep up thine interest in the divine favour, by being continually careful to please God and fearful of offending him.” The sum of our duty, the condition of our happiness, is to keep ourselves in the love of God. Fear the Lord and his goodness. Hos_3:5.” – Matthew Henry Stand in His grace, WOS |

Dear Cheri, I understand the question you have. Romans 11:23 answers that very well I thought. Like I’ve said a few times throughout the thread, “once saved always saved” is only a prelude to deeper doctrines and the phrase itself does not really represent those doctrines well. One must dig into perseverance and election which is what the phrase itself alludes to. I would recommend you do that. With that, I think we need to take searchers advice and leave this discussion and let those still wondering to search out the history for themselves. Stand in His grace, WOS |

So in a roundabout way, you intended to express that the "victory" is solely God's and that He so graciously permits us the benefits of the victory He secured. Pedantic? Please. I’m as unqualified as they come, so even if I tried, I don’t believe I could nitpick and would truly not want the same done to me, as I do make many errors or misstatements and have so much more to learn. I just simply saw an opportunity to give credit where credit is due in response to a statement that in this layman’s understanding, may not have. I feel better now that it is clear as to where the Glory belongs, don’t you? Stand in His grace, WOS |

Just some Scripture to ponder in considering what God has created. It is ALL things. Isaiah 57:16(NIV) I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, for then the spirit of man would grow faint before me— the breath of man that I have created. Ephesians 3:9(NIV) and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. Colossians 1:16 (NIV) For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. Revelation 4:11(NIV) "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." Revelation 10:6(NIV) And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, "There will be no more delay! E.G. White writings and “inspired word of God”… To even put those two phrases that close together teeters on ridiculous or delusional. Please dear friend, dive into God’s true inspired Word and stay away from preposterous claims like those of White, who by the way, has been linked to plagiarism herself. Sad really, how she claimed her visions where inspired by God yet copied from another’s work. And they still contradicted God’s Word. Seems to me she was no more than a delusional bootlegger of another’s uninspired, contradictory to the Word of God, work. Just my opinion. Please, let God inspire you through His true Word. WOS |

99 | "Happiness is what it's all about."? | Gen 1:1 | Wild Olive Shoot | 180944
"The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; the people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up,"—Matthew 4:15-16. "In the text, those persons who were more deplorably circumstanced than others are described first as being in darkness—"The people that sat in darkness;" by which is meant, first, ignorance. The Galileans were notoriously ignorant: few teachers of the law had been among them; they did not know even the letter of the law. So are there many, to whom the gospel, even in the theory of it, is a thing scarcely known. They may have gone to places of worship in this country from their youth up, and have never heard the gospel, for the gospel is a rare thing in some synagogues; you shall hear philosophy, you shall hear ceremonialism and sacramentarianism cried up, but the blessed truth, "Believe, and live," is kept in the background, so that men may come to full age, ay, and even to old age, in Christian England, and yet the plan of salvation by the righteousness of Jesus Christ may be an unknown thing to them. They sit in the darkness of ignorance. The consequence is, that another darkness follows, the darkness of error. Men who know not the truth, since they must have some faith, seek out many inventions; for, if they are not taught of God, they soon become taught of Satan, and apt scholars are they in his school. Galilee was noted for the heresies which abounded there. But what a mercy it is that God can save heretics. Those who have received false doctrine, and added darkness to darkness in so doing, can yet be brought into the glorious light of truth. Though they may have denied the Deity of Christ, though they may have doubted the inspiration of Scripture, though they may have fallen into many traps and pitfalls of false doctrine, yet the Divine Shepherd, when he seeks his lost sheep, can find them out and bring them home again. In consequence of being in the darkness of ignorance and error, these people were wrapt in the gloom of discomfort and sorrow. Darkness is an expressive type of sorrow. The mind that knows not God, knows not the heart's best rest. There is no solace for our griefs like the gospel of Jesus Christ, and those who are ignorant of it are tossed about upon a stormy sea, without an anchorage. Glory be to God; when sorrow has brought on a midnight, grace can transform it into noon." - C.H. Spurgeon I don't know how "happy" Einstein may have been, but Scripture tells us Christ was in no way joyous with the task he was about to undertake and be it for sinners, those who rejected Him. Would Albert have died to save another eternally? I doubt it since this could not have made him happy. There is such a great love that has been shown to us, the Love of a Savior who suffered and died for us and showed us the great light of truth. Yet so often, we forego that light and attempt to muddle around in the darkness and find our “happiness”. It won’t happen. You may believe it has, but the darkness or even the self-imagined light you think you have found without Christ, is nothing compared to His grace and the love He has for us. Cry out to Christ. He can shine that light upon you and once you see its splendor and feel a touch of its warmth, you’ll run from the darkness and He’ll be there to welcome you. Stand in His Grace, WOS |
