81 | Is Your Conversion Genuine? | Job 13:23 | Searcher56 | 225158
Gods' day to you, Mr. Kenney, and welsomre to the SBF, That sounds like Baptismal Regeneration, which several of us have posted based on verses those who believe in Baptismal Regeneration cite: -- Paul said that he came to preach the gospel, not to baptize (1Co 01:14-17) and was not part of his regular message (Col 02:10-11). -- Mar 16:16 113864 -- Jhn 03:05 113889 ... 7626 (Makarios) -- Act 02:38 147165 (Morant61 repost) ... 147404 (Morant61) -- Act 22:16 113495 -- Rom 06:03 81256 -- Tit 03:05................ The washing of the blood of Christ that saves us, not the baptismal waters. -- Gal 03:27................ This is our union with Christ, like the Israelites were baptized into Moses (1 Cor 10:02), Israel was closely identified with Moses. -- 1Pe 03:21 45673-4 ... 113478 (Makarios) Searcher |

82 | Lying justified? | Josh 2:5 | Searcher56 | 225073
God's day to you, MJH, You said, "Rahab was considered righteous because she lied." That is not what the Bible says. However James 2:25 says, "In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?" ... No where in the Bible was she "considered righteous" (James 2:25 NIV) or even justified by telling a lie. Searcher |

God's day to you, Inquisitor, As I read your post #224936 ... I believe your view on this verse is not strightforward, as pointed out. Please be aware that when most of people ask a question, they don't know what it means. I think your repsonse is inappropiate. Searcher |

85 | Do they who reign live 900 years? | Rev 20:1 | Searcher56 | 224892
God's day to you, sonofmom and welcome to the SBF, Revelation 20:4 says it who reign 1000 years, they will live forever based on verses 5-6 ... they are part of the first resurrection. Notice who will reign with Him. It is a limited number (3 qualifications). Revelation 20:4 "Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those 1. who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and 2. those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and 3. had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; ... and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." Verse 5 continues "The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection." And verse 6 "Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years." 86 | Why the children? | Num 33:55 | Searcher56 | 224847
Inquisitor, Inquisitor, Inquisitor ... Even the title differs what you believe. Even Matthew Henry says it is a BLESSING, not about being in the kingdom - being saved. Verse 14 ends "The kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" ... not "The kingdom of heaven belongs to these". If you look at the bigger context, it is between Divorce (19:1-12) and The Rich Young Man (19:16-30). See how this compares to Ephisians 5:21-6:9. In 1 Corinthians 7:14, we read "For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy". Read the context ... does this mean the unbelieving spouse or children are saved? I think child's "holiness" is removed if they go live with the unbelieving spouse. Searcher |

87 | Why the children? | Num 33:55 | Searcher56 | 224845
God's day to you, Inquisitor, If you don't believe what the Bible says about sin, in particular Psalm 51:5 and the other verses that our sister cited, what else don't you believe. You MUST accept ALL what Scripture says. The Bible is very old and applies today. There is controversy, because people don't wnat to accept the Scripture. Read my post 138120. The killing of everyone, including babies, during the conquest of Canaan is more support. They were not innocent nor count as righteous. Searcher |

88 | Text Clarification | Bible general Archive 4 | Searcher56 | 224783
God's day to you, Doc, I think you a right ... it is a general categorical fashion that we should associate the beast as the (not an) antichrist. There is both many antichrists and singular the antichrist (1Jn 2:18). The beast decieves (Rev 19:20) as does the antichrist (2Jh 1:7) ... but there are many deceivers (2Jh 1:7). Searcher |

90 | Man of God | 1 Kin 13:1 | Searcher56 | 224575
God's day to you, Beja, I think your post is excellent. "Close" is relative - based on what ther reader thinks. My understanding of this passage is that the man of God didn't inquire of the Lord, when there is a contrary message. Remember David and others when they didn't. More important, he disobeyed. While we may think God shouldn't be so harsh - His standard is perfection. Think about Moses who hit the rock instead of speaking to it, he was punished (Num 20:11-12). Searcher |

91 | Harsh Treatment? | Bible general Archive 4 | Searcher56 | 224574
Continuting ... If I call someone a Campellite, I do so not as a term of derision, but because that is how they are labeled. There are several groups that have roots in the Campells, though they say they are followers of Jesus, not Campbell. Lutherans and other groups point to Matrin Luther as being an important person. But, again, if the foundation is not Christ, what are they? Searcher |

God's day to you, Inquisitor, You said "But it's still quite a quandry to me. These people, at least MOST of the ones I've seen here on the Forum ask sincere questions based on scripture and MOST of the time, all they get in response is name-calling." Emphasis mine. So I am curious how which posts do you read? Please read ALL the posts from the past three days ... or even today's posts. Even without reading them - there are very FEW ones with name calling. 98 | Is it bibical for a church to require? | John 8:7 | Searcher56 | 224333
Scipture ... Deu 17:2-7 (vs 6), 19:15-21 (vs 15); Mat 18:15-20 (vv 16, 20); 2Co 13:1-3 (vs 1); 1Ti 5:19; Heb 10:28 ... God's day to you, justme, Only when a brother offends me and he refuses to listen (Mat 18:15-17). I don't think it is any offense, based on the above Scripture. Plus, the context of the previous verses indicate this may be causing a child to stumble. The rest of the chapter is about forgiving. The above Scripture says two or three gathered (witnesses) all about judgment. We misapply this. The Lord is there also misapplied. He is there in judgment (Deu 19:17, Mat 18:20). Searcher |

God's day to you, lionheart, I believe 1 Corinthians 5 is about the lack of church disciple. It also may be implied this fellow was not repentent at the time, because he was later (2Co 2:3-4) ... where the church was to welcome him back. Searcher |

God's day to you, justme, You cited several verses ... but I don't see removing ones name from membership for sexual immorality You cited 1 Corinthians 5:9 ... but verse 11 clarifies "But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one." ... there is no sexual immorality in this verse. You 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 ... but it is marrying a prositute. There is no mention of removing ones name from membership. Hebrews 13:4 is about sexual immorality. There is no mention of removing ones name from membership. See my note to dka. Searcher |
