81 | Contradiction? | Prov 26:4 | Shelly | 73482
The NIV Bible study notes says: Prov 26:4, 5 These two verses seem to be in contradiction. But the writer is saying that we shouldn't take a foolish person seriously and try to reason with his or her empty arguments. This will only make him or her proud and determined to win the argument. In some situations, you ought not to even try to answer a fool, for there is no way you can penetrate his or her closed mind. You may, in fact, be stooping to that person's level if you do choose to answer. Such a fool will abuse you and you will be tempted to abuse him or her in return. There are other situations where your common sense tells you to answer in order to expose the fool's pride and folly. |

NIV study Bible says: Isa 40:31 Hoping in the Lord is expecting that his promise of strength will help us to rise above life's distractions and difficulties. It also means trusting in God. Trusting helps us to be prepared when he speaks to us. Then we will be patient when he asks us to wait and expect him to fulfill the promises found in his Word. |

84 | bible reference please | Is 61:1 | Shelly | 65848
NIV Bible study notes: Isaiah 61:1, 2 Jesus quoted these words in Luke 4:18, 19. As he read to the people in the synagogue, he stopped in the middle of 61:2 after the words, "to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor." Rolling up the scroll, he said, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing" (Luke 4:21). The next phrase in 61:2, "and the day of vengeance of our God," will come true when Jesus returns to earth again. We are now under God's favor; his wrath is yet to come. |

89 | Powder of the Holy people broken??? | Dan 12:7 | Shelly | 86489
NIV Study Bible notes says: "The power of the holy people" seems to be crushed again and again throughout history. God's recurring purpose in this is to break the pride and self-sufficiency of his rebellious people and to bring them to accept him as their Lord. |

Matthew 19:5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? Mark 10:8 and the two will become one flesh.' 91 | second time why? | Jonah | Shelly | 35654
My NIV Bible study notes say: 3:1, 2 Jonah had run away from God, but was given a second chance to participate in God's work. You may feel as though you are disqualified from serving God because of past mistakes. But serving God is not an earned position--no one qualifies for God's service. But God still asks us to carry out his work. You may yet have another chance. |

93 | what are storehouse?can you divide tithe | Malachi | Shelly | 37708
3:10 The "storehouse" was a place in the temple for storing grain and other food given as tithes. The priests lived off these gifts. Malachi 3:10 says: "Bring the WHOLE tithe into the storehouse.... "Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty,..." I believe that the whole tithe should be paid first, then you can give extra to the poor or family. |

There is no other. 1 Kings 8:60 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is no other. Isaiah 44:8 Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one." Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, Isaiah 45:14 This is what the LORD says: "The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and those tall Sabeans-- they will come over to you and will be yours; they will trudge behind you, coming over to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you, saying, 'Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other god.' " Isaiah 45:18 For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-- he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other. 95 | what if i can't pay all of my tithes? | Mal 3:10 | Shelly | 172830
Hi. Because the first 10 percent belongs to God, we pay that as our FIRST priority each pay cheque. If we are going to run short of money, we can cut back on groceries or going out or recreation, etc. - something further down the list. If you pay God first, then you can pay all your tithes. You just need to re-budget in other areas.

97 | Isaiah 7:14 - Virgin | Matt 1:23 | Shelly | 74735
NIV Bible Study Notes say: Isa 7:14-16 'Virgin' is translated from a Hebrew word used for an unmarried woman old enough to be married, one who is sexually mature (see Genesis 24:43; Exodus 2:8; Psalm 68:25; Proverbs 30:19; Song of Songs 1:3; 6:8). Some have compared this young woman to Isaiah's young wife and newborn son (8:1-4). This is not likely because she had a child, Shear-Jashub, and her second child was not named Immanuel. Some believe that Isaiah's first wife may have died, and so this is his second wife. It is more likely that this prophecy had a double fulfillment. (1) A young woman from the house of Ahaz who was not married would marry and have a son. Before three years passed (one year for pregnancy and two for the child to be old enough to talk), the two invading kings would be destroyed. (2) Matthew 1:23 quotes Isaiah 7:14 to show a further fulfillment of this prophecy in that a virgin named Mary conceived and bore a son, Immanuel, the Christ. |
