AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 3:10 "Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. Bible Question:
Giving tithes: I know it is a requirement and I'm perfectly happy to do what is required of God, but what if giving 10 percent of my check before taxes puts a strain on finances? Sometimes I don't give my full 10 percent because my finances are slim and I worry about not having enough to take care of all my needs. Then I feel very guility, like I'm cheating God. I do trust God and love Him. Does it mean that my faith isn't strong enough by not giving my full 10 percent and does that make me a sinner if I don't? Is it okay to give what I can afford? What should I do? vocab3802 |
Bible Answer: Hi. Because the first 10 percent belongs to God, we pay that as our FIRST priority each pay cheque. If we are going to run short of money, we can cut back on groceries or going out or recreation, etc. - something further down the list. If you pay God first, then you can pay all your tithes. You just need to re-budget in other areas. |
