65 | Please explain the verse? | 1 Kings | Shelly | 19298
My NIV Bible Study notes say: 1 Kings 18:21 Elijah challenged the people to take a stand--to follow whoever was the true God. Why did so many people waver between the two choices? Perhaps some were not sure. Many, however, knew that the Lord was God, but they enjoyed the sinful pleasures and other benefits that came with following Ahab in his idolatrous worship. It is important to take a stand for the Lord. If we just drift along with whatever is pleasant and easy, we will someday discover that we have been worshiping a false god--ourselves. |

66 | Who wrote a thousand songs? | 1 Kings | Shelly | 35137
A. Solomon - 1 Kings 4:30-32 [30] Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. [31] He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite--wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. [32] He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. |

67 | I found errors in the Bible - help ! | 1 Kin 16:11 | Shelly | 103902
1 Kings 16:11 doesn't say that Baasha was killed - it says that he killed off Baasha's whole family (and Baasha was still alive?): "As soon as he began to reign and was seated on the throne, he killed off Baasha's whole family. He did not spare a single male, whether relative or friend." |

That's correct - Ezra is only mentioned in Ezra and Nehemiah.
69 | verse Bible- contains all letters but J | Ezra 7:21 | Shelly | 50853
Ezra 7:21 is incorrect - it doesn't contain B or J. The verse without J is 1 Chron 29:2. |

71 | the rock of salvation | Ps 18:2 | Shelly | 85482
Psalm 18:2-3 God's protection of his people is limitless and can take many forms. David characterized God's care with five military symbols. God is like (1) a 'rock' that can't be moved by any who would harm us, (2) a 'fortress' or place of safety where the enemy can't follow, (3) a 'shield' that comes between us and harm, (4) a 'horn' of salvation, a symbol of might and power, (5) a 'stronghold' high above our enemies. If you need protection, look to God. |

72 | Explain this verse please? | Ps 23:5 | Shelly | 57639
NIV Study Bible notes: Ps 23:5-6 In ancient Near Eastern culture, at a banquet it was customary to anoint a person with fragrant oil as a lotion. Hosts were also expected to protect their guests at all costs. God offers the protection of a host even when enemies surround us. In the final scene of this psalm, we see that believers will dwell with God. God, the perfect shepherd and host, promises to guide and protect us through life to bring us into his house forever. |

74 | bankruptcy? | Ps 37:21 | Shelly | 147311
Psalm 37:21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; I believe you can always repay your debts, even if it is only 5 dollars a week to each supplier. |

75 | Sin no more? | Ps 51:1 | Shelly | 144186
They can ask for forgiveness, but they really need to repent, which means to turn from their ways, and not go back and do it again. The NIV Study Bible notes says: John 5:14 This man had been lame, or paralyzed, and suddenly he could walk. This was a great miracle. But he needed an even greater miracle--to have his sins forgiven. The man was delighted to be physically healed, but he had to turn from his sins and seek God's forgiveness to be spiritually healed. God's forgiveness is the greatest gift you will ever receive. Don't neglect his gracious offer. |

76 | Can catholic man marry a catholic widow | Ps 103:12 | Shelly | 136120
I don't think you will find it in the Bible, because the Bible doesn't even contain the word catholic. Maybe the question should be, "Can a single Christian man be married to a divorced Christian woman?" |

77 | Total Chapters and Verses in Bible | Ps 118:8 | Shelly | 3029
I received this e-mail last September - don't know if it's accurate, but thought you might be interested. 1) Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the whole entire bible. 2) Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the bible. 3) Psalm 119, after 118 is the longest chapter in the bible. 4) The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118. 5) If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters. 6) 1188 or Psalm 118 verse 8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible. Should the central verse not have a fairly important message? "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." Psalm 118:8 Is this central verse not also the central theme of the entire Bible? |

78 | Does God really have a plan for my life | Prov 16:3 | Shelly | 74053
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV notes: Jer 29:11 We're all encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task he has given and who will be with us all the way. God is that kind of leader. He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill his mission, we can have boundless hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.) |

80 | beating your child with a rod | Prov 23:13 | Shelly | 25610
I think there is a lot of difference between beating a child and disciplining them. Proverbs 13:24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. Proverbs 22:15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him. Proverbs 23:13-14 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. [14] Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death. Proverbs 29:15 The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother. |
