83 | PRECISELY, what is the new covenant | Heb 9:1 | Aspiring Overseer | 58128
A basic tenement of contract law is that both parties must perform according to the contract. If one party does not, the other party is not obligated to perform their part of the agreement. God is the contractor; man is the contractee. His contract to those who believe is straightforward. If they obey His commandments (the terms of the new contract) He will reward them with eternal spiritual life in heaven. His requirements include worshiping God in assembly, in your personal life and obeying the Law of Grace. If man does not fulfill his duties of the contract, God will not give the reward. Additionally, man must ask God for help in understanding the requirements of the contract, otherwise there is no way for man to fulfill them. Without proper understanding, man can not benefit from the contract and heaven is not an option. Is legalism wrong? Was Jesus a legalist? We know He was and, that God is, very specific in what He expects from us as sons. Yes, salvation is a free gift in that there was nothing we could do to cause God to send His son as the blood sacrifice for our PAST sins, but we must not mock God by teaching there are no deeds necessary to maintain that salvation. The ability to contact the blood of Christ is free; the ability to continue in contact with that blood is not. |

84 | Salvation for Non-Believers | Heb 11:6 | Aspiring Overseer | 49186
Unfortunately, there is no way for another person to be saved by one's own salvation. Your best course of action is to continue to seek help from God to do everything in accordance with His will and possibly someday your family may seek to do the same. As for those people who are truely seeking God and are skeptical of their false religion, God will provide a Christian to present His master plan. Keep praying for quidance. |

86 | Those who died before Jesus' death | 1 Pet 3:18 | Aspiring Overseer | 138583
Lisa, Those who died before Jesus' death died under the Old Covenent and therefore did not have a promise of eternal life. Everyone since the establishment of Christ's Church has had the opportunity to hear, believe and respond to God's requirements through the New Covenent. Whether they seek that information is their choice, thus ensuring God's faithful servants are those who truely seek Him. Children, and those adults with the mental capacities of children, were never expected to understand the commands of God and therefore are not held to the same standard. Thus a child who dies before becoming mature enough to "keep the commandmants of God" will not be held responsible for that immaturity on the day of judgement. Best regards, AO |

87 | Are those drawn 2 Christ raised to life? | Rev 13:8 | Aspiring Overseer | 88410
Tim, Doug and any other readers, Belief that God is the one and only God is necessary before anyone will devote energy to listen to the Word. They will not understand that word unless they are sincere in their desire to seek God. When John 6:44 and 6:65 state that the Father draws or grants salvation, it is implied that He does that due to their obedience of faith. Some are not seeking and some seek, but not with understanding. It is only those who seek understanding and demonstrate obedience that the Father draws to Christ. AO |
