781 | Was the Bible written by astrologers? | Rom 1:19 | azurelaw | 196235
Dear tonyp, I think your focus of discussion should not be on the fortune telling or astrologers. Lead your father to the Word of God. Read with him the book of Gospels and Paul's epistles. I would recommend you show him Rom 1:16-25. Pay attention to v22. When a person is blind and deaf, how can he see and hear (therefore, is he capable of making sense?) see what Jesus said in Mat 11:25. Let God's Word speak to him. I understand your concern on your father's salvation. I will pray for you. Shalom Azure |

782 | AMm I UnTeachable? | James 1:19 | azurelaw | 196178
Dear Rapture, Welcome to the forum. I am a bit cautious to encourage you to stand firm in face of the comments from your fellow member as we do not understand the whole story or background. However, Bible teaches us not to believe every spirit but to test if they are from God (1 John 4:1). So, this constitutes to our discerning of the false prophet. And if you will stay with the forum long enough, you will notice that many of the forum users quote 2 Tim 2:15 as this verse is very important for reminding believers to rightly handle the Word. While, as what you have said you would always verify teachings by God's Word, I think this is a correct and biblical attitude. However, if your issue is not something about false prophet (we would never give way to false prophets) but just a different attitude hold within fellow members toward the handling of teaching received, I would prefer to raise your attention to your own attitude (this I mean could it be possible that you have been misunderstood as being arrogant or pride by your fellow members?) when you have your fellowship with your brothers and sisters. You have to understand that God has granted each of us with different gifts (Eph 4:11) and with which we are required to build up the body of Christ. We have to also trust those God has ordained, even sometimes we might find the problem of mishandling of the Word - and this we should speak the truth in love (Eph 4:15). And with this unity through sincere fellowship (Eph 4:2-3), edification through those with different gifts, we can grow together and will no longer be children as easily deceited. (Eph 4:14) Well, I might not be much helpful. Just my 2 cents to share with you. Keep you in my prayer. Shalom Azure |

Dear Michael, John the Baptist witness Him (Mat 3:11-14) God witness Him (Mat 3:17, John 5:30-38) The below commentary from John Gill is helpful, too. “And Jesus rebuked him,.... Checking his insolence, despising his flattery, and refusing to receive a testimony from him; and which he wanted not, lest it should be thought he had a familiarity and confederacy with him: saying, hold thy peace; stop thy mouth, I need no such witness as thine, nor thy praises; I am not to be soothed by thy flattery, nor is my mouth to be stopped, or power restrained, by such methods: wherefore he adds, and come out of him: I will not let thee alone, thy encomiums of me shall not prevail upon me to leave thee in the quiet possession of the man; I will give a testimony of who I am, by the dispossessing of thee out of this man…” Shalom Azure |

Dear it is written, Just like your user name "it is written"...:-) Scripture does not show Saul actively participated in stoning or flogging Stephen. His name was first mentioned in verse 58 where he was taking care of the garments of those persecutors. But in verse 60, Saul was pleased that Stephen be stoned to death. It is reasonable to believe that Saul belonged to the angry crowd. Chapter 9 has explicitly confirmed Saul's persecution on the believers. Hope the above is helpful. Shalom Azure |

Dear glassbopper, Please see below a brief introduction of the chapter by John Gill: "As, in the two preceding chapters, the hypocrisy and formality, the profaneness and immorality, that should abound in the latter day, and even among professors of religion, are prophesied of; so, in this, a very ample account is given of latter daylight and glory; of both the spiritual and personal reign of Christ, with the latter of which it concludes. The light and glory of the church, in the spiritual reign, are described, Isaiah 60:1 the numerous conversions of persons to it from all quarters, east and west particularly, are prophesied of, Isaiah 60:4, the great usefulness those should be of unto it, in enriching it, and building it up, and in glorifying it, is declared, Isaiah 60:9, as also the subjection of enemies to it; the favours it should receive from kings, and the fame and renown of it through all nations and ages, Isaiah 60:14, its riches, prosperity, peace, and safety, Isaiah 60:17 and the chapter is concluded with an account of the more perfect state of the church in the personal reign of Christ, when there will be a perfection of light and righteousness; and the number of God's elect will be complete, and they will be all together, Isaiah 60:19." 794 | Jesus unheard of in the old testament!!! | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 195585
Dear MLove, I don't know what kind of forum you have been engaged with previously. However, I have noticed that the dialogue of your respondent does not provide any scriptural reference. I believe if we are to discuss issues concerning the Bible, we have to always refer to the scriptures. Therefore, in your situation as such, it could result in endless non-productive debate with this skeptic. Shalom Azure |

Dear JRV, Welcome to the forum. Hope the below commentary from John Gill helpful to you. "This epistle is called 'general,' because not written to any particular person, as the epistles to Timothy, Titus, and Philemon are; nor to any particular churches, as the epistles to the Romans, Corinthians... but to the believing Jews in general, wherever they were." Dear Yonderful--, Do a word search with "Benny Hinn" on your upper right hand corner of the screen to see the past discussions concerning this false teacher. You may also type ID 5162 which directs you to a thread discussing "slain by the spirit". It is quite obvious that your posts are promoting the theology of this false teacher which violates the below terms of use, thus causing the Lockman's exercising its control. Meanwhile, as what has brother Doc stated, this is a study bible forum, your tendency to promote your own political stand is not within the scope of the forum's purpose. * Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ. * Limit content that contains known denominational biases that produce potential strife and undue conflict. * Do not push your denominational bias or engage in debates. Shalom Azure |
