621 | Abel,s sacrifice acceptable, Cain's not? | Genesis | Val | 192914
Although the law did not come until Moses the principle is there as we see when God clothed Adam and Eve after the fall. The blood sacrifice points ahead to the blood sacrifice of Christ the Messiah. Whatever is in the heart, i.e., submission or rebellion comes to the surface in the actions or in this case the type of sacrifice. One point being we must come to God God's way, through the sacrifice of His son. Heb 9:22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. |

624 | Is killing scriptual in theNEW TESTAMENT | Matt 5:44 | Val | 192624
Eccl 3:1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven-- Eccl 3:2 A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. Eccl 3:3 A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. Eccl 3:4 A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. Eccl 3:5 A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. Eccl 3:6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. Eccl 3:7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. Eccl 3:8 A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace. Eccl 3:16 Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness. Eccl 3:17 I said to myself, "God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man," for a time for every matter and for every deed is there. Dan 11:44 "But rumors from the East and from the North will disturb him, and he will go forth with great wrath to destroy and annihilate many. 2 Matt 24:6 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 3 Mark 13:7 "When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. Commentary: Of course there is killing in time of war and the Lord talked about war saying it would take place. We are to love our enemies by praying that they become followers of Him then they are no longer enemies when they become followers of the Lord. |

625 | Abstaining from things strangled, blood? | Acts 15:20 | Val | 192143
Gen 9:8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying, Gen 9:9 "Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you; (All mankind came from Noah) Gen 9:10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth. Gen 9:11 "I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth." (never again) Gen 9:12 God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; (this is the time frame which answers the question how long) Gen 9:13 I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. Gen 9:14 "It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, Gen 9:15 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. (never again is another timeframe answering when) Gen 9:16 "When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth." (the words everlasting is a time frame that answers the question how long) Gen 9:17 And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth." (answers who the covenant is with) At this point in my journey I would say yes we are still under the Noahic covenant. |

626 | Psalm 20:1-4 | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 192124
Ps 20:1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! (Notice in Psalms 19:14 he asks that his thoughts be acceptable to the Lord his Redeemer-he seems to be repenting of his own sins) then in 20:1 he begins to pray for others that they will call on the Lord and receive help from Him when troubles comes their way) May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! (He is speaking of the God of Israel who was called Jacob before God changed his name) Ps 20:2 May He send you help from the sanctuary And support you from Zion! (He seems to be speaking of heaven - see verse 6) Ps 20:3 May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable!(He seems to be speaking to Israel because they received the covenants and the laws) Selah. Ps 20:4 May He grant you your heart's desire And fulfill all your counsel! (He seems to be saying he hopes they get what they deeply desire) I hope this helps. |

627 | who are the 144000 | Revelation | Val | 192122
These are verses showing the history of Israel and the promises made to them. They lead up to the Revelation passage which shows that it is to be taken literally. If you read them and meditate on them and then ask questions about it maybe that would be a good way to study it. I really am new and just getting a feel for studying this way. Again if you read the passages I cited and want to know more you might post those questions and you will get an assortment of views. I hope this helps. |

630 | Would his heart not be humbled? | Romans | Val | 192119
As I illustrated in the Corinthians passage - all will be judged - with a result being reward or suffer loss. So I guess my answer at this point in my journey is yes he seems to be speaking to all who hold the position of teacher and that would be supported by the Corinthians passage. Thank you for your patience.

2 Cor 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ 1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.” NASB |

1 Cor 3:1 "And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. 1 Cor 3:2 I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 1 Cor 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For since THERE IS JEALOUSY AND STRIFE AMONG YOU, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? 1 Cor 3:4 For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men? 1 Cor 3:5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. 1 Cor 3:6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. 1 Cor 3:7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. 1 Cor 3:8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1 Cor 3:9 For We ARE GOD'S FELLOW WORKERS; you are God's field, God's building. 1 Cor 3:10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But EACH MAN MUST BE CAREFULLY HOW HE BUILDS ON IT. 1 Cor 3:11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 1 Cor 3:13 EACH MAN'S WORK WILL BECOME EVIDENT; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself WILL TEST THE QUALITY OF EACH MAN'S WORK. 1 Cor 3:14 If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a REWARD. 1 Cor 3:15 If any man's work is burned up, he will SUFFER LOSS; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Cor 3:17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are. 1 Cor 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you THINKS THAT HE IS WISE in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. 1 Cor 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, "He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS"; 1 Cor 3:20 and again, "THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS." 1 Cor 3:21 So then LET NO ONE BOAST IN MEN. For all things belong to you, 1 Cor 3:22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, 1 Cor 3:23 and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God." Revelation 7:1 “After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. Rev 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, Rev 7:3 saying, "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads." Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: Rev 7:5 from the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand, Rev 7:6 from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand, Rev 7:7 from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, from the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand, Rev 7:8 from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed. Rev 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; Rev 7:10 and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." Rev 7:11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, Rev 7:12 saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen." Rev 7:13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?" Rev 7:14 I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev 7:15 "For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. Rev 7:16 "They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; Rev 7:17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes." Jeremiah 30:1 "The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Jer 30:2 "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book. Jer 30:3 'For behold, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will restore the fortunes of My people Israel and Judah.' The LORD says, 'I will also bring them back to the land that I gave to their forefathers and they shall possess it.'" Jer 30:4 Now these are the words which the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah: Jer 30:5 "For thus says the LORD, 'I have heard a sound of terror, Of dread, and there is no peace. Jer 30:6 'Ask now, and see If a male can give birth. Why do I see every man With his hands on his loins, as a woman in childbirth? And why have all faces turned pale? Jer 30:7 'Alas! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob's distress, But he will be saved from it. Jer 30:8 'It shall come about on that day,' declares the LORD of hosts, 'that I will break his yoke from off their neck and will tear off their bonds; and strangers will no longer make them their slaves. Jer 30:9 'But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them. Jer 30:10 'Fear not, O Jacob My servant,' declares the LORD, 'And do not be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar And your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease, And no one will make him afraid. Jer 30:11 'For I am with you,' declares the LORD, 'to save you; For I will destroy completely all the nations where I have scattered you, Only I will not destroy you completely. But I will chasten you justly And will by no means leave you unpunished.' Jer 30:12 "For thus says the LORD, 'Your wound is incurable And your injury is serious. Jer 30:13 'There is no one to plead your cause; No healing for your sore, No recovery for you. Jer 30:14 'All your lovers have forgotten you, They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the punishment of a cruel one, Because your iniquity is great And your sins are numerous. Jer 30:15 'Why do you cry out over your injury? Your pain is incurable. Because your iniquity is great And your sins are numerous, I have done these things to you. Jer 30:16 'Therefore all who devour you will be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity; And those who plunder you will be for plunder, And all who prey upon you I will give for prey. Jer 30:17 'For I will restore you to health And I will heal you of your wounds,' declares the LORD, 'Because they have called you an outcast, saying: "It is Zion; no one cares for her."' Jer 30:18 "Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob And have compassion on his dwelling places; And the city will be rebuilt on its ruin, And the palace will stand on its rightful place. Jer 30:19 'From them will proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not be diminished; I will also honor them and they will not be insignificant. Jer 30:20 'Their children also will be as formerly, And their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all their oppressors. Jer 30:21 'Their leader shall be one of them, And their ruler shall come forth from their midst; And I will bring him near and he shall approach Me; For who would dare to risk his life to approach Me?' declares the LORD. Jer 30:22 'You shall be My people, And I will be your God.'" Jer 30:23 Behold, the tempest of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, A sweeping tempest; It will burst on the head of the wicked. Jer 30:24 The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back Until He has performed and until He has accomplished The intent of His heart; In the latter days you will understand this. " NASB |

636 | Scripture alone? | James 1:5 | Val | 191984
Luke 2:25 And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. Luke 2:26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2:27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, Luke 2:28 then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said, Luke 2:29 "Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word; Luke 2:30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation, Luke 2:31 Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, Luke 2:32 A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel." Luke 2:33 And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him. 1 John 2:8 On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. 1 John 2:9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. 1 John 2:11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. |

639 | THE APOCALYPSE CODE, Have U read it? | Rom 11:17 | Val | 191404
Brad, thank you for pointing out this critique by Norman Geisler. After reading it I am sad to see the divide that has occurred between Mr. Hanegraff and himself as well as others. It seems Satan causes upheaval everywhere. I have done a Precept study on "Covenants" and it was wonderful. God has made certain promises to Israel that He has not made to the church. A study of the covenants of the bible helped me to see those clearly. May God bless you. Val

They really blessed my heart. May God Bless you. Matt 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." NASB
