563 | Is this The Right Tongues?!!!! | James 1:20 | Val | 197677
Just focus on one book at a time. For instance, Matthew. When completed go to Mark. I am not omitting the Old Testament. I am providing a starting point. Its the best way to study and has been proven to be the best way for retention of what has been studied. I hope you will try it as well. You might try one of the short books that has only 1 to 5 chapters. Once you have done it let me know what you learned. God Bless. Oh by the way, do you know what God commanded the kings of Israel to do the first thing when they became king?
564 | Is this The Right Tongues?!!!! | James 1:20 | Val | 197674
Again I would direct your focus away from the gift and to the giver, our Lord Jesus Christ. Take your bible and mark every reference to Him. The next step is to write out by hand each of these verses. Start in Matthew and go through Revelation. Meditate on these verses and memorize them. Talk to Him in prayer. Use the verses you have studied in your prayers to Him. He will lead you in all truth through the power of His Spirit. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of Him. When you finish this exercise do the same with the Father God and after this exercise do the same with the Holy Spirit. Also mark pronouns and other words referencing them. May God bless you. When you finish these exercises let us know what He has taught you. Merry Christmas.

I am not in this discussion. I was encouraging New Creature for his excellent commentary. I see you have done the same in the past to those who you wanted to. The scripture I used is to me one of the most loved in the bible and used as an encouragment to New Creature.

Congratulations New Creature. You won this round hands down. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. |

570 | Death penalty Biblical? | Romans | Val | 197202
You thinking is not logical. Why not have justice for the one who has been murdered rather than letting the murderer go free so that he may go on and kill again and again. The bible clearly says Thou shall not kill. When someone breaks that commandment there are consequences to their actions. The death penalty is used for the most terrible crimes. You can forgive them all you want but they have forfeited their right to live in society. The wages of sin is death. Death to a relationship, death to marriage, death to a murderer. If they repent, the Lord said He will forgive them but there are consequences they must face in this life. Do a word study on justice. It is most enlightening.

Azure, the Preceptaustin.org website gives information on the inductive study approach. It also explains why this method is beneficial before going to commentaries. It also gives information on the interpretive approaches individual commentators use. This helps to understand their approach. Hope this helps.

I am afraid it does, sorry, I don't agree with you. We already have established that. This is my view, not dogmatic, just a view: 2 Thess 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, (Please note the passage I quoted is speaking of our Lord's return and the believers being taken off of the earth, just as it is speaking in this passage, i.e., our gathering together to Him) 2 Thess 2:2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. (some were teaching that the great suffering they were experiencing was because the day of the Lord had already come and they had many questions and worries about it. The day of the Lord is a series of events.) 2 Thess 2:3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 2 Thess 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 2 Thess 2:5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 2 Thess 2:6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. (this takes place after the believers have been taken off the earth. We know that the work of the Holy Spirit is to live in believers and convict them of sin and enable them to live a life overcoming sin and live to righteousness, in other words, loving Christ Jesus and obeying Him) 2 Thess 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. (Anywhere you have godly people they influence the lives of others in their families, their co-workers, everywhere they go because an unbeliever sees their lives and how they follow Christ Jesus obeying Him, loving Him. This is a restraining influence because even those who do not follow Christ are affected by these believers) 2 Thess 2:8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; (Then is a time phrase - it tells when something is going to happen. We know that there are many, many names for the anti-christ and the lawless one is one of them. He does not follow Christ Jesus. He opposes Him and His followers but through the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers He is thwarted from doing as he pleases totally) 2 Thess 2:9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, (There is an appointed time for this and I believe that is what you and I differ on. So in the attitude of christain peacefulness let us not break fellowship because we do not agree, ok? I respect and value your thoughts and I hope you will show me the same respect even if it differs from yours. Thanking you in advance, your sister-in Christ) |

580 | Why replace a wolf for a lion | Is 54:10 | Val | 196699
Its the leopard and the goat in this passage. That was her point that the lion and lamb are lying in a pasture in peace. The lion is not trying to eat the lamb but someone told her it is a wolf and a lamb. Anyway the point is peace - there will be peace even among the animals. Hope this helps, John. Is 11:6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. |
