502 | "Oliver Twist" Christians? | 2 Tim 3:16 | jlpangilinan | 29068
I can maybe answer part of your questions. "Is God's word as revealed in Holy Scripture incomplete?" No we know that it is complete. Isa 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. Those TV religious programs of course has thier own strategy of converting people or to gather people to join thier congregation. You write they all say "God told me this" or "God told me that" but this are personal claim that God revealed this to them. It thier own claim that God told them things to do but the question is are they saying the truth. For example the scripture stated: Mt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Too many will say to Jesus Christ those things but questions is it is not Jesus claiming that they done this things but they claim it themselves. I am not saying that those TV religious program are wrong, but we can see thier fruit through thier fruits we can assure that they are truly with GOD, because Good tree will not have Evil fruit: Mt 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Mt 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. God bless, Johnny |

503 | How much should you forgive? | 2 Tim 3:16 | jlpangilinan | 31826
Mt 18:21 ¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Mt 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Here are the clear example of Jesus Christ to Peter of how many time we should forgive. I know it is not a literal seven times seventy, but forgive as you can forgive meaning no limit. But forgiveness is different from tolerance the crime. For example if someone killed your brother you can forgive him but the law has to do with the killer. I dont think we just allow him that next time it is your father or mother he is going to kill and still we forgive him always. God bless, Johnny |

504 | StudyBibleForum or MyOpinionForum? | 2 Tim 3:16 | jlpangilinan | 114179
Hank, Very good reminder, I do hope I am not guilty with that, In my own little way, I tried to put scriptures in all of my positions and argument. Here in the Philippines in our church that is the decipline, if we have any discussion we tried to encourage everyone to quote the books, chapters and verse of the back up passages. Charis in one of his posts has very good reminder regarding the Forum guidelines charis, mentioned about descipline in everything, passages of the Bible, spelling, grammar etc. Although I am guilty about grammar, (as you know english is not my first language)I commend charis for posting that as descipline. I know my grammar is not good but I tried to participate to share and try to answer some questions ( I hope they understand) One thing I am sure there is passages back up in all of my argument. I hope many (if not all) will have chance to read that post of yours, as a reminder to everyone before engaging to any discussion. Why we have to rely on opinions and conclusions? Isa 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. Ga 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: God bless, |

506 | Multiple wives and divorce | Titus 1:6 | jlpangilinan | 17799
If you are belong to Muslims or Jewish people, having more than one wife is still being oberserved. But if are belong to the Christian it is not permitted. Tit 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. In all teaching of Jesus Christ he never mentioned that having more than one wife is ok. If you read the new testaments I think there are no desciples having more than one wife. Some of them not even have one (Paul) some of them not even c...(Tito) If you confused of divorce is practiced freely today not all nations practice the same thing. If the divorce is legal in the law of the state I dont think legal in the law of God which include thou shall not kill. Johnny |

508 | What do you think Moses plan was? | Hebrews | jlpangilinan | 17434
I think Moses has no organized plan. If we read the life of Moses he simply follow the Lord to rescue his people from bondage. Who is Moses? After he slain some Egyptian He Moved by fear, Moses fled from Egypt, and betook himself to the land of Midian, the southern part of the peninsula of Sinai, probably by much the same route as that by which, forty years afterwards, he led the Israelites to Sinai. He was providentially led to find a new home with the family of Reuel, where he remained for forty years (Ac 7:30), under training unconsciously for his great life's work. Suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in the burning bush (Ex 3:1-22), and commissioned him to go down to Egypt and "bring forth the children of Israel" out of bondage. He was at first unwilling to go, but at length he was obedient to the heavenly vision, and left the land of Midian (Ex 4:18-26). On the way he was met by Aaron (q.v.) and the elders of Israel (Ex 4:27-31). He and Aaron had a hard task before them; but the Lord was with them (ch. 7-12), and the ransomed host went forth in triumph. (See Exodus.) After an eventful journey to and fro in the wilderness, we see them at length encamped in the plains of Moab, ready to cross over the Jordan into the Promised Land. There Moses addressed the assembled elders (De 1:1-4; 5:1-26:19; 27:11-30:20), and gives the people his last counsels, and then rehearses the great song (De 32:1-52), clothing in fitting words the deep emotions of his heart at such a time, and in review of such a marvellous history as that in which he had acted so conspicious a part. Then, after blessing the tribes (33), he ascends to "the mountain of Nebo (q.v.), to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho" (Ex 34:1), and from thence he surveys the land. "Jehovah shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan, and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea, and the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar" (De 34:2-3), the magnificient inheritance of the tribes of whom he had been so long the leader; and there he died, being one hundred and twenty years old, according to the word of the Lord, and was buried by the Lord "in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor" (Ex 34:6). The people mourned for him during thirty days. Thus died "Moses the man of God" (De 33:1; Jos 14:6). He was distinguished for his meekness and patience and firmness, and "he endured as seeing him who is invisible." "There arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, in all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, and in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel" (De 34:10-12). The name of Moses occurs frequently in the Psalms and Prophets as the chief of the prophets. In the New Testament he is referred to as the representative of the law and as a type of Christ (Joh 1:17; 2Co 3:13-18; Heb 3:5-6). Moses is the only character in the Old Testament to whom Christ likens himself (Joh 5:46; comp. De 18:15,18-19; Ac 7:37). In Heb 3:1-19 this likeness to Moses is set forth in various particulars. In Jude 1:9 mention is made of a contention between Michael and the devil about the body of Moses. This dispute is supposed to have had reference to the concealment of the body of Moses so as to prevent idolatry. Sorry it is too long, but if you read those intorduction to Moses you will find out that he is Man of God and simply follow the will of God how he can have his on organized plan? Johnny |

512 | is God and Jesus are one person? | Heb 1:8 | jlpangilinan | 37883
NO! I believed that there is only one God the father one God the the Son (which is Jesus) and Holy Spirit. If Im going to count them in my counting there are three but God has a different mathematics compare to mine: Joh 17:11 ¶ And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. Many can become one in Him, so if I am going to count them there are three, but as I mentioned, God has different mathematics. God bless, Johnny |

513 | DO GOD EXAULT ANGELS HIGHER THAN MAN? | Heb 2:7 | jlpangilinan | 96485
In terms of power yes, they more knowledgeable, strength because they are spirit. Angel These superior beings are very numerous. "Thousand thousands," etc. (Da 7:10; Mt 26:53; Lu 2:13; Heb 12:22-23). They are also spoken of as of different ranks in dignity and power (Zec 1:9,11; Da 10:13; 12:1; 1Th 4:16; Jude 1:9; Eph 1:21; Col 1:16). But in terms of office we are higher than them, please remember when satan fall God did not sent His son to save Him. But when man fell He sent Jesus Christ to save us. That how important we are to God God bless, |

514 | The word of God? | Heb 4:12 | jlpangilinan | 67805
Searcher123 Welcome to the forum! Word of God (Heb 4:12, etc.). The Bible so called because the writers of its several books were God's organs in communicating his will to men. It is his "word," because he speaks to us in its sacred pages. Whatever the inspired writers here declare to be true and binding upon us, God declares to be true and binding. This word is infallible, because written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and therefore free from all error of fact or doctrine or precept. (See Inspiration; Bible.) All saving knowledge is obtained from the word of God. In the case of adults it is an indispensable means of salvation, and is efficacious thereunto by the gracious influence of the Holy Spirit (Joh 17:17; 2Ti 3:15-16; 1Pe 1:23). They are different Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Spirit (Heb ruah; Gr. pneuma), properly wind or breath. In 2Th 2:8 it means "breath," and in Ec 8:8 the vital principle in man. It also denotes the rational, immortal soul by which man is distinguished (Ac 7:59; 1Co 5:5; 6:20; 7:34), and the soul in its separate state (Heb 12:23), and hence also an apparition (Job 4:15; Lu 24:37,39), an angel (Heb 1:14), and a demon (Lu 4:36; 10:20). This word is used also metaphorically as denoting a tendency (Zec 12:10; Lu 13:11). Easton Bible Dictionary Baker's Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology Soul [N] The Old Testament. The Hebrew word so rendered is nepes [v,p,n]. It appears 755 times in the Old Testament. The King James Version uses 42 different English terms to translate it. The two most common renderings are "soul" (428 times) and "life" (117 times). It is the synchronic use of nepes [v,p,n] that determines its meaning rather than the diachronic. Hebrew is inclined to use one and the same word for a variety of functions that are labeled with distinct words in English. This word has a range of meanings similar to nepes [v,p,n]. It frequently designates life: one can risk his life (John 13:37; Acts 15:26; Rom 16:4; Php 2:30), give his life (Matt 20:28), lay down his life (John 10:15,17-18), forfeit his life (Matt 16:26), hate his life (Luke 14:26), and have his life demanded of him (Luke 12:20). |
