NASB | Hebrews 8:9 NOT LIKE THE COVENANT WHICH I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS ON THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; FOR THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DID NOT CARE FOR THEM, SAYS THE LORD. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 8:9 NOT LIKE THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS ON THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; FOR THEY DID NOT ABIDE IN MY COVENANT, AND SO I WITHDREW MY FAVOR and DISREGARDED THEM, SAYS THE LORD. |
Bible Question:
As New Covenant believers, how do we appropriate God's Word as spoken to Israel? Many Scripture references are specifically directed toward and about Israel. Is it important to make a distinction in God's Word here? Why or Why not? Are promises to Israel, God's chosen people, also for us as His "chosen ones" in Christ? Please support your answers, Thanks! God bless your day! Mommapbs Note to "older Forum members": I tried to use the "search feature" before asking these questions! Bible Answer: The law that given to israel in horeb are very specific to them. De 5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. De 5:3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. it was mentioned there "who are all of us here alive this day" we are not included in that law. This promises to abraham is very specific to Israel: Ge 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. Ge 17:8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. It was mentioned there I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; If I am included in that promises I should have rights to be in canaan. There are covenant that different from the covenant that give made to them. Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. Those are some verses that I can quote. But when the time of new testament all of promises of Christ is applicable to anyone that will received Him. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
