41 | Is Jesus YHWH? | OT general | Taleb | 107268
Merry Christmas, Tim. Thank you for the ongoing words of wisdom that this forum experiances because of your writings. May this joyous season of acknowledging our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ's birth, reign in your home. From the American Translation I offer this word for you and yours from Him. Hebrews 13:20-21 "May God, the giver of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus who through the blood which He ratified the everlasting agreement has become the Great Shepherd of the sheep, fit you, Tim Moran, by EVERY blessing to do His will, and through Jesus Christ carry out in us what will please Him. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen!" And again I say - Merry Christmas! Taleb P.S. Jesus IS!!!! |

42 | Christmas-Is It Christian? | NT general Archive 1 | Taleb | 106776
Tess, are you forgetting “our” calendar was changed? Is that the reason you feel Jesus wasn't born in "December"? John, Jesus' cousin was conceived shortly after Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), which is on the tenth day of Tishre (our Sept- Oct.). So John would have born in Tummuz (June-July), and Jesus was born about six months later. Luke’s CHRISTMAS story spells out all the fine details. I don't believe for one second these "dates" are in Scripture just to fill Bible pages. You can - IF you honestly don't desire to acknowledge the Almighty hand of a God in full control of this universe The Jewish month Kislev corresponds with "our" Nov-Dec. It is their ninth month. Read Haggai 2:18f and discover for yourself what it says about the 24th of Kislev (sometimes spelled Chislev) (our Dec) about the foundation of the Lord's temple being laid. The Jews have continued to celebrate this activity for centuries, long BEFORE any Druids thought up any holiday for Dec. 24-25. Cross reference that to 1 Cor. 3:11 where it spells out WHO is the “temple’s” foundation - Jesus Christ. And His people are His temple. By the way - HAPPY HANUKKAH! Today is the day Jews begin their eight days celebration with their "Feasts of Dedication". They remember the miracle of not running out of oil. Around the world, the candles being lit will be accompanied by blessings and chanting the hymn rock of ages, (Maoz Tzur). Jesus Christ is MY Rock of Ages. Blessings, Taleb |

43 | Was there herding on/about December? | NT general Archive 1 | Taleb | 106875
JCrichton, like I wrote to Tess, "our" calendar was changed. December, now the 12th month, USED to be the 10th month of the Roman year, it's name actually comes from our word "decimal", like October comes from the number 8. Actually, when July and August were inserted into "our" present day calendar, all the other months moved up two. This hurried explanation might offer more questions than it answers, but here goes. The Jew's had two separate calendars. A civil one, which was the "official" one used for contracts, childbirths etc. and a sacred one, which was used to compute festivals. Every 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, and 19th year had an extra month (called "Ve-Adar) inserted into their year". It was added right after "Adar" - their (6th civil) 12th sacred month. Realizing "how" the Jews figured the passing of their time, and how it fluctuated from year to year, meant the "10th month of their year" wouldn't necessarily be the 10th month of our present day year. Stating that "December" as such is too cold for the shepherd’s to discount “December 25” as a possible date, doesn't mean it wasn’t the 10th month of the year which Jesus was born, as I spelled out above I heartily agree with what so many others have written, and written well. In effect, they have said, celebrating Dec. 25th doesn't add or subtract from the fact that Christ Jesus came as a baby to die as a man. The light of the world WAS born. So what if it happened to be at a time when the Jews celebrated the fact that they had light for eight days without needing to replenish their oil. So what that 8 days after Jesus was born, he was brought into the temple. So what that many Jews still celebrate the fact that the installation of their temple's foundation on the 25th month of their "DECember". “Let God arise and His enemies be scattered”. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Chanukah! Taleb |

Norrie, I have read much similar poppy-cock as depicted in that site you suggested. Because that author refused to fully understand what Scripture’s Author passed on to us, the human author’s misinterpretation resulted. The false claim against celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior (whatever day it falls upon) too often descends into self-righteousness, false humility and bitterness, as that article so readily proved. Many wrongly conclude that Jeremiah preached against “Christmas trees”. He preached against making idols with hands, feet, mouths and ears, out of trees. I have yet to see any Christmas tree walk or hear one talk – have you? Through the centuries, some revere the “sun”, yet what does Malachi 4:2 promise? “You who revere My name, there will arise ‘the SUN of righteousness’, with healing in its wings.” And read what Scripture says about shepherds in that part of the world watching their flocks on a cold winter’s night. (Genesis 31:40) As far as the word ChristMAS “proving” anything – to quote another Christmas story – “Bah Humbug!” If ANYTHING that has a smidgen of “paganism” is to always be avoided, without exception, DON”T EVER GO to church. The English word ‘church’ originates from the old English word “circe”. It was the word that described the circles of “trees” or stones used by the Celtics. But, nobody today thinks of going to “church” as being associated with classical mythology, right? I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Taleb |

45 | Why was there fourteen sheep on ark? | Genesis | Taleb | 99593
TommyS, if you are studying about the flood, forget ANY and ALL preconceived notions that have been erroneously been peddled for years. Like what? Like, how could it have taken Noah 120 years to build the ark? God instructed Noah to build an ark for him, his wife, his three sons and their wives. Shem was the oldest son, and AFTER the flood, at the age of 100, Shem had a son. Ask any person on the street, “How many of each animal was on the ark?” And they will parrot, “Two. A male and its female.” BUZZ! WRONG! Noah's taking 14 clean, and 4 of each unclean animal did have some significance – How did Noah know anything about which was which, is significant. What was clean or unclean animals to Noah? Some claim that perhaps the clean animals were for food for Noah and his family. BUZZ! Noah and his family, and all the animals ONLY ate produce until AFTER they exited from the ark. Even after the exodus from the ark, God never gave Noah "ANY exemptions” for food (ie, clean or unclean). Gen. 9:3 “EVERY thing that moves, that is alive, IS TO BE FOOD for you. Pigs, lobster etc. And do your math, TommyS. By raining for 40 days and 40 nights, it covered the highest mountain in the world (above sea-level anyway) by 15 cubits of addition water. Really? Because water finds its OWN level, that means 15 cubits AROUND THE GLOBE. That means that there had to be 29,050 FEET of water ABOVE sea level. To get enough rain to cover that area, world wide, how hard did it have to rain? The highest average rainfall in the world today is less than 500 inches, but that takes in an entire year. For the water to cover all the earth with ONLY 40 days and nights, it HAD TO RAIN OVER 725 FEET EVERY DAY. That figures out to be SIX INCHES PER MINUTE! Anyway, there are numerous, other significant facts to be found in those few chapters of Genesis – but, it’s doubtful that you will ever find them in any Sunday School lessons. Keep studying with both eyes open, and you will continue finding answers to verses too many others "never question." :) Good job! Taleb |

46 | was abraham ever a gentile? | Genesis | Taleb | 101745
Even today, when someone "converts" to Judaism they are “proclaimed” to be the son, or daughter, of Abraham and Sarah and welcomed AS a Hebrew. The Jews accept the born into and the converted into - AS A "FULL JEW" - with NO hesitation. The reason why the converts become “children” of Abraham is because before God called Abraham TO BE the father of the Hebrews, and Sarah, the mother of the Hebrews, Abraham and Sarah were both “Gentiles”. As were ALL their forefathers. That is the reason why Jesus often mentioned things to the Jews about "their father Abraham". The premese is Abraham and Sarah WERE FIRST GENTILE and they BECAME THE FIRST Hebrews. This is the basis for how anyone of any nationality can "BECOME a Hebrew". Interestingly, the converstion is by being immerse into water three times. (Sound familiar?) Taleb |

47 | When did Abraham become a Hebrew? | Genesis | Taleb | 102364
Shalor, there are numerous Scriptures which spell out Abraham being the father of the Hebrews. How many were you looking for? As far as the premise of Abraham being "called" a Hebrew BEFORE being called of God - sorry, but I can't find any. Those verses you listed are AFTER Abram's "call to be the father of the Hebrews", if you will. Abram was FIRST called of God in Gen. 12:1 where he was intructed to leave his aging father and promised that HIS (Abram's) seed would invoke blessing upon the whole earth. Blessings, Taleb |

48 | Hebrews or to the sons of the promise? | Genesis | Taleb | 102390
Shalor, you asked: “Was it to Hebrews or was it to the sones of the Covenant? Abraham and David were the ones the promises were made to.” The first thing that popped into my mind was Galatians 3:16 – “Now the promises were MADE TO ABRAHAM AND TO HIS SEED. It does not say ‘and to seeds’, as of many, but as of one, ‘And to your seed, which is Christ’.” So, according to Scripture,the answer to your question is: Abraham and his seed – which is “Christ”, which (according to Gal. 2:29) includes anybody who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. “And if you be Christ’s, THEN you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Hope this helps, Taleb |

49 | Ever Doubt God's Existence? | Gen 3:1 | Taleb | 78175
Yes, I have. I honestly doubt if there is anybody who HASN’T either doubted God’s existence or if what He said is really true. The first Scripture that comes to mind is Gen 3. Yup, from the beginning people have “questioned God”, if you will. Satan is the father of lies and has been a liar from day one. His lies to Eve caused her to wonder if everything she KNEW was true really was true. Don’t forget she walked with God in the garden. Talk about not having any reason to doubt, but doubt she did. Growing up, my “bet” (not the right word, but…) is that you doubted a lot of things your teacher, parents, siblings told you – even though they really were true. So, while we can’t “see God” we do have seasons of doubt. Those are the times for us to take seriously what Paul wrote in 2 Cor. 10:4-5 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exhalteth itself AGAINST the knowledge of God (YOUR SITUATION), and bringing into captivity EVERY thought to the obedience of Christ.” And don’t forget – God believes in you! Respectfully, Taleb |

What a thrill to hear my words helped. Please accept my apologies for such a “late” response. I use more than one computer, depending on where I am during the day (or night), and, although from time to time I "spotted" a posting, to which I responded, yours was waiting at home for me. While I can’t think of any particular verse, although there are a few that you “might” be referring to, please allow me to address the rest of your note. Being “faithful” in attendance is wonderful. Remain faithful to them, AND “faithful” with your relationship with Him. As far “making every effort to follow …” bear in mind 1 John 3:18-24. (It’s sometimes hard to “pull and use” Scriptures, but I feel these might help.) “… let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we KNOW that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For IF our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment. And He that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby WE KNOW that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us.” Respectfully, Taleb |

51 | Who married Noah's daughters? | Gen 9:19 | Taleb | 76399
Papyrus, were you by chance thinking of Noah's sisters - Mahiah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah? If that is the case, don't forget "this" Noah was the above named sisters' sister. All five girls were the daughters of sonless Zelophehad. Talk about naming your children with Biblical names. :) Taleb |

52 | Oldest mother in Bible | Gen 17:17 | Taleb | 107656
Scripture doesn't say how old Noah's wife was, or her name. It says that Noah was 500 years old when he begat Shem, Ham and Lamech. Unless Noah "robbed the cradle", I'd say his wife was very old, wouldn't you? :) Blessings, Taleb |

53 | What was the name of Lot´s wife? | Gen 19:26 | Taleb | 73660
Wordoer, In reading Jasher, did you notice that it fails to mention anything about what Joshua and 2 Sam says is recorded in there? I did. Anyway, Jasher "offers" some great "possible answers" to some questions that have shown up here. I love the section about some of Judah's battles where he takes on so many - single handedly. We must be careful, however, not to "think" it is gospel, right? :) Taleb |
||||||
54 | What was the name of Lot´s wife? | Gen 19:26 | Taleb | 73839
Wordoer, I agree with both EdB and Tim. The reason I mentioned Joshua and 2 Samuel wasn't listed, was, it isn't in my copy. After you wrote it was in yours, I did some checking on the internet, under "book of Jasher". logosresourcepages.org/jasher.htm spells out the multiple problems with Jasher. Tim as "almost" right, when he said the Jewish cultists wrote their own. "Almost right" means they did write their own. But, according to the various copies available, it means several of them wrote their own different ones. I agree with Edb. Stay in God's word. My library is overfilled with books, from many differant "viewpoints", because they are of use to know why someone believes in order to correct their errors. One doesn't walk up to a JW and say "Your wrong", without knowing where they are wrong, right? Bank tellers in training don't get to see any counterfeit money UNTIL they know the real real well. 55 | Why two dreams instead of one? | Gen 41:25 | Taleb | 110682
TommyS, I spotted this question earlier and was tempted to offer a possible explanation. While I'm on the keyboard, I'll go ahead. Joseph himself had two dreams before he was sold. They too meant the same thing. His brothers did bow down. God seems to have "set an example" of offering us another one of His mysteries - which those in the world can't grasp, because they don't have His Spirit. Usually, while reading Scriptures, people fail to keep the WHOLE in proper prepective. Take Revelations for example. Most are "afraid" to really tackle the wonders of that book. Like the dreams of Pharaoh, God did the same thing with Revelation. Many erroneously think that first the seals, then the angels, then the trumpets, then the vials. Wrong. Just like Pharaoh's dream - they fit together. The first trumpet and the first vial - exactly the same thing. All seven of each are the same. First trumpet "upon the earth". First vial "on the earth". Second trumpet - sea and blood. Second vial - sea and blood. etc. etc. The first seal and the first angel are one and the same. The seventh seal and the seventh angel, and each one in between, go TOGETHER as an event. God IS the same yesterday, today and forever. Blessings, Taleb |
||||||
56 | Why two dreams instead of one? | Gen 41:25 | Taleb | 110720
Tim, Scripture does say exactly WHY Pharaoh had two dreams of the same event. “The fact that the dream was sent twice to Pharaoh in two forms MEANS that the matter is absolutely settled by God, and that God will soon bring it about.” (Gen 41:32 The Bible - An American Translation). Concerning your respectful disagreement with me, I appreciate what you stated, however :) You see the differences AS differences. I see them as the same things, much like the “differences” with the cows and the grain WERE the same thing. May I suggest “an assignment”, as I read you did once? In effect, you suggested someone who pointed out the “differences” in Jesus’ resurrection to look at the four gospels as one. You even went the extra mile and painted the word picture for the world to see “how” they are NOT different, but complete. The sea isn’t going to turn to blood twice, is it? Rev 8:9 says the second trumpet sounded and one third of the SEA turned to BLOOD. Rev 16:3 says the second vial was emptied his vial upon the SEA and it turned into BLOOD. There isn’t going to be TWO “finishes” are there? The seven trumpet sounds (Rev 10:7) and “it is finished” The seventh vial is poured out with “it is all over” (Rev 16:17) Tim, if you did the same thing with the trumpets against the vials and the seals against the “angels” – you will conclude that ONLY differences are from two “viewpoints” of the same event, much like your example of the resurrection. God “set the example” in Genesis about parallels to “help” us better understand Revelations. Respectfully, Taleb |
||||||
57 | Why two dreams instead of one? | Gen 41:25 | Taleb | 110739
Tim, thank you dear brother for your studies. I believe I see where you are “missing it” :) I apologize for not giving a better explanation of “how” to view them. Allow me to make another attempt, please. You listed side by side the seals, the trumpets and the vials. You are “missing” the seven angels that tie together with the seven seals. Side by side the trumpets AND the vials. Just those two, and like the cows and grain – ALL the words don’t have to be the same. And side by side the seals AND the angels. Having the same message, is what makes them the same. Much like your wonderful explanation of with the resurrection story. Trumpet one: “Hail cast upon the earth ” - Vial one: “Upon the earth … and sores” Trumpet two: “Cast onto the sea …and blood” - Vial two: “Poured upon the sea … blood” Trumpet 3: “Upon rivers and fountains …” - Vial 3: “Upon rivers and fountains” Trumpet 4: “Sun smitten” - Vial 4: “Poured upon the sun” Trumpet 5: “Bottomless pit” (who “lives” there?) - Vial 5: “Seat of the beast” Trumpet 6: “The Euphrates River” - Vial 6: “The Euphrates River” Trumpet 7: “It is finished” - Vial 7 “It is done” They aren’t only similarities in WHAT, and WHERE. But the EXACT SAME NUMBER that John uses matches those similarities. In other words, had number three trumpet match number four vial - this conversation wouldn't be happening. That they match perfectly side by side is what makes for an awful lot of “coincidences” not to mention there are NO “un-similarities” to cancel my point. I can do the exact same thing with the seals AND angels – if you wish. :) They TOO follow the same principle God gave us in Gen. Two equals one and the same. Fourth seal – death of believers Rev 6:7-8 . Fourth angel – death of believers Rev 14:13. Sixth seal “wrath of the Lamb” Sixth angel “Wrath of God”. Etc. etc. I’ve got to get to Church for some meetings. Blessings, Taleb |

58 | Why two dreams instead of one? | Gen 41:25 | Taleb | 111044
Tim, you ARE correct. We don’t have to agree. As a matter of fact, I’m BEGINNING to agree with your conclusion. Once again, you "filled in some holes". While it was “fun to discuss”, this “study” I shared with TommyS is multi-years old and it has too many years since I “reviewed” it. (MY wife might try to inform you it’s been too many years since I’ve done anything right) :) Too be perfectly honest (as though being honest wasn't “perfect”) I’m beginning to think like an old relative I used to have. JUST for the sake of an argument, she would take the opposite side of someone else, even if she really agreed with the other person. I’m naughty for falling into that mold too often. :) (So much for being “perfect”.) I trust that you enjoyed watching your son participate in the state chest tournament. I have two questions. How did he do, and can YOU beat him? :) Blessings, Taleb |

59 | jewish calander time line for 7 feasts. | Ex 12:2 | Taleb | 98868
zil4god, first of all you have to realize that the Jewish calendar has TWO calendars. There is the civil year, with which they just celebrated their “New Years Days” Rosh Hashanah (a 2 day celebration). The civil year starts with the month called Tishre, which is “our” September and October. On the third day of the New Year is TzomGadalyah (Fast of Gedaliah). 9This 1st month (Tishri) of the “civil year” is the 7th month of the sacred year. Actually, according to the Torah, the seventh month Nisan/Abib begins their sacred calendar.) Then comes Yom Kikkur (Day of Atonement) on the 10th day. Then comes Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) on the 15th through the 21st days is a harvest festival time. Then comes Shemini Atzeret on the 22nd day. Then comes Simhat Torah on the 23rd day. Kislev is their 3rd month of the civil year. Sometimes it has 30 days in it and sometimes they have only 29 days. It is their 9th month of their sacred calendar. This coincides with our Nov and Dec. Hanakkah (which lasts for 8 days) is on the 25th of Kislev. The story of “why” etc. can be found in the books of Maccabees. Purim – the festive festival is in the Jew’s month of Adar – Tannit Ester (Feast of Easter) is the 13th and 14th day. The Pesah (Passover) – A Jewish Celebration of Liberation – is celebrated next. Nisan 15th to 22nd, Nisan takes in the last of March and first of our April. Sivan – the Feast of Weeks – is celebrated on the 6th and 7th day of Sivan (between our May and June. Blessings, Taleb |
