Dear Tim, Thank you for understanding and paying attention to the details. I was not taking any position and did not use my own words but was sharing something I thought to be of interest in regards to the shape of the cross as you have understood. Bless you, Love Fountain Matt 16:24 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. KJV |

Dear ddrundle, The Cross and Crucifixion. This Is Appendix 162 From The Companion Bible. In the Greek New Testament two words are used for "the cross" on which the Lord was put to death. 1. The word stauros; which denotes an upright pole or stake, to which the crimminals were nailed for execution. 2. The xulon, which generally denotes a piece of a dead log of wood, or timber, for fuel or for any other purpose. Is is not like dendron, which is used of a living, or green tree, as in Matthew 21:8; Revelation 7:1, 3; 8:7; 9:4, etc. As this latter word xulon is used for the former stauros, it shows us that the meaning of each is exactly the same. The verb stauroõ means to drive stakes.1 Our English word "cross" is the translation of the Latin crux; but the Greek stauros no more means a crux than the word "stick" means a "crutch". Homer uses the word stauros of an ordinary pole or stake, or a single piece of timber.2 And this is the meaning and usage of the word throughout the Greek classics.3 It never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle, but always of one piece alone. Hence the use of the word xulon (No. 2, above) in connection with the manner of our Lord's death, and rendered "tree" in Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29. Galatians 3:13. 1 Peter 2:24. This is preserved in our old English name rood, or rod. See the Encycl. Brit., 11th (Camb.) ed., volume 7, page 505d. There is nothing in the Greek of the New Testament even to imply two pieces of timber. The letter chi, , the initial of the word Christ , was originally used for His Name; or . This was superseded by symbols and , and even the first of these had four equal arms. These crosses were used as symbols of the Babylonian sun-god, , and are first seen on a coin of Julius Cæsar, 100 - 44 B.C., and then on a coin struck by Cæsar's heir (Augustus), 20 B.C.4 On the coins of Constantine the most frequent symbol is ; but the same symbol is used without the surrounding circle, and with the four equal arms vertical and horizontal; and this was the symbol specially venerated as the "Solar Wheel". It should be stated that Constantine was a sun-god worshipper, and would not enter the "Church" till some quarter of a century after the legend of his having seen such a cross in the heavens (EUSEBIUS, Vit. Const. I. 37). The evidence is the same as to the pre-Christian (phallic) symbol in Asia, Africa, and Egypt, whether we consult Nineveh by Sir A. H. LAYARD (ii 213), or Manners and Customs of the Ancient Egyptians, by Sir J. GARDNER WILKINSON, iii. pages 24, 26, 43, 44, 46, 52, 82, 136. Dr. SCHLIEMANN gives the same evidence in his Ilios (1880), recording his discoveries on the site of prehistoric Troy. See pages 337, 350, 353, 521, 523. Dr. MAX OHNEFALSCH - RICHTER gives the same evidence from Cyprus; and these are "the oldest extant Phoenician inscriptions"; see his Kypros, the Bible, and Homer : Oriental Civilisation, Art, and Religion in Ancient Times, Plates XIX, XXV, XXVI, XXX, XXXI, XXXII, XL, LVIII, LXIX, etc. The Catacombs in Rome bear the same testimony : "Christ" is never represented there as "hanging on a cross", and the cross itself is only pourtrayed in a veiled and hesitating manner. In the Egyptian churches the cross was a pagan symbol of life, borrowed by the Christians, and interpreted in the pagan manner. See the Encycl. Brit., 11th (Camb.) ed., volume 14, page 273. In his Letter from Rome Dean Burgon says : "I question whether a cross occurs on any Christian monument of the first four centuries". Read the rest of this at www.therain.org. Dear ck1, You state," I will become fully Armed as He would have me with no insecurity. I do believe. I am seeking, knocking, and ready to receive." Once you become fully armed with the Word in your heart and mind, you will find the following as a description of how we are to be in the following verses, Col 3:12-17 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. KJV Bless you, Love Fountain Eph 6:14-17 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: KJV |

44 | Character descript Jacob? | Bible general Archive 1 | Love Fountain | 40748
Dear Rocurwrld, JACOB Character. Jacob appears to have inherited the gentle, quiet, and retiring character of his father along with a selfishness and a prudence that approached cunning. These showed themselves in his reprehensible deception of his father, his dealings with Esau, and the means that he employed to make his bargain with his uncle (Laban) work to his own enrichment. We must remember, however, that he was accustomed to caution and restraint in the presence of a more vigorous brother, that he was secretly stimulated by a belief that God designed for him some superior blessing, that he was compelled to leave home to preserve his life, and that he was obliged to cope with an avaricious and crafty uncle. But "God revived the promise over which he had brooded for sixty years, since he learned it in childhood from his mother. Angels conversed with him. Gradually he felt more and more the watchful care of an ever-present spiritual Father. Face to face he wrestled with the representative of the Almighty. And so, even though the moral consequences of his early transgressions hung about him, and saddened him with a deep knowledge of all the evil of treachery, and domestic envy, and partial judgment, and filial disobedience, yet the increasing revelations of God enlightened the old age of the patriarch; and at last the timid 'supplanter,' the man of subtle devices, waiting for the salvation of Jehovah dies, the 'soldier of God,' uttering the messages of God to his remote posterity" (Smith, Bib. Dict.). (From The New Unger's Bible Dictionary. Originally published by Moody Press of Chicago, Illinois. Copyright (c) 1988.) Hope this helps. Bless you, Love Fountain Matt 5:16-18 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Dear ck1, My sincerest wishes of comfort and blessing go to you and your family! You have some very deep questions that I believe can only be answered by the Word of our Father. We do need each other for fellowship, comfort, support and guidance among many other things, but ultimately your answers are in the Bible. If you don't understand at first it is ok, just keep reading and don't give up and watch the Scripture open up for you. If you have one specific question at a time, I will do my best to answer with Scripture if you'd like. Bless you from my heart, Love Fountain Matt 7:7-8 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Dear wandakayet, After reading the post by Glenn that you are responding to, I think his point may have been overlooked. I believe the point he was making is that we are no longer given in marriage to each other but we are the bride and Jesus is the bridegroom. I apologize if I totally missed the point too, just trying to help. Bless you, Love Fountain Luke 20:34-36 34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. 47 | Flesh body and Spiritual body | John 1:14 | Love Fountain | 40723
Dear Emmaus, You state,"The word "incarnate" means in the flesh." Then you state,"To be preincarnate is to be without a body." If incarnate means in the flesh, preincarnate should mean before(pre) being in the flesh. Scripture tells us we have two bodies as follows, 1 Cor 15:44 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. KJV Since most Bible believing people believe Jesus is God and Scripture says God is a spirit(John 4:24), can we then conclude that a spirit has a spiritual body and that Jesus was in a spiritual body before being in the flesh? Bless you, Love Fountain |

48 | Please explain breastplate of righteous | Is 59:17 | Love Fountain | 40430
Dear ck1, The following is from a commentary, Isa 59:17 Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke. [For he put on righteousness] That is, God the Redeemer. The prophet here introduces him as going forth to vindicate his people clad like an ancient warrior. In the declaration that he 'put on righteousness,' the essential idea is, that he was pure and holy. The same image is used by the prophet in another figure in Isa 11:5 (see the notes at that place). [As a breastplate] The breastplate was a well-known piece of ancient armor, designed to defend the breast from the darts and the sword of an enemy. The design here is, to represent the Redeemer as a hero; and accordingly allusion is made to the various parts of the armor of a warrior. Yet he was not to be literally armed for battle. Instead of being an earthly conqueror, clad in steel, and defended with brass, his weapons were moral weapons, and his conquests were spiritual. The various parts of his weapons were 'righteousness.' 'salvation,' and 'zeal.' This statement should have been, in itself, sufficient to keep the Jews front anticipating a Messiah who would be a bloody warrior and distinguished for deeds of conquest and blood. This figure of speech is not uncommon. Paul (in Eph 6:14-17; compare 2 Cor 6:7) has carried it out to greater length, and introduced more particulars in the description of the spiritual armor of the Christian. (from Barnes' Notes, Electronic Database. Copyright (c) 1997 by Biblesoft) Bless you, Love Fountain Eph 6:10-17 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: KJV |

49 | Nature teaches a man to have short hair? | Rom 14:1 | Love Fountain | 40423
Dear quik 76, Thank you for the question. The referrences to hair in 1Cor 11, are in reference to a spiritual veil, not physical hair. A woman needs to keep her spiritual veil on(long hair) and a man must not put on a false spiritual veil(long hair). A good example of where we can see the difference between the physical(flesh) understanding and the spiritual understanding is found in 2Cor 11:2. Paul says we are espoused to one husband and that we are to be presented as chaste virgins. This is not meant to be understood as physical virgins but as spiritual virgins. We are spiritual virgins when we are cleansed from the lies of the world through the reading and understanding of the Bible. I hope this helps. Bless you, Love Fountain Eph 5:25-32 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Dear Patricia, Thank you for your response and bless you in your search for the truth. Bless you, Love Fountain Prov 8:8-11 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. 9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. 51 | If God gave us brains, why wouldn't he w | Mark 16:16 | Love Fountain | 40036
Dear RJ, You ask,"Why would He punish us ("be condemned") for not following the crowd (Christians) and thinking for ourselves?" I must say that I have never read in the Bible where it says you will be punished for thinking for yourself but I have read where thinking too highly of yourself or in other words being full of yourself can be seen as self conceit. Envy, whether of self or another, obscures everything around us. When one looks outward and focuses on others more than oneself what do you think will happen? Did you know the Bible calls the devil, the god of this world? In the following verse satan is being called the god of this world as follows, 2 Cor 4:4 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. KJV The Greek word that is used for the word "blinded" in the above verse is tuphloo which is from tuphlos which is from tuphoo which means, NT:5187 tuphoo (toof-o'-o); from a derivative of NT:5188; to envelop with smoke, i.e. (figuratively) to inflate with self-conceit: KJV - high-minded, be lifted up with pride, be proud. By reading the words above we can come to the understanding that the devil is being allowed to blind us with our own self conceit. Why is this allowed? All understanding is in a letter written to you from your Father that created you it's called the Bible. Within the Bible there is a book called Romans. In the book of Romans in the eleventh chapter please read the following, Rom 11:25-32 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. 29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. 30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. KJV I have mercy for your unbelief within the faith and hope that one day you will seek the truth for yourself in the letter written to you from your Father. He always gives us a way out because He is forgiving, merciful and longsuffering towards the returning children who seek understanding and guidance according to His will. Be a follower of God and not men. There are no wrong questions if one searches for the truth with all their heart and soul. But if man chooses to listen to man instead of the One that created man then let it be known that man made his own choice and is responsible for his own shame. Bless you, Love Fountain 2 Thess 2:10-12 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. KJV |

Dear Hank, Thank you for your participation in this thread. Please note that the Bible is not a game to me. Bless you, Love Fountain 2 Cor 1:12-14 12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. 13 For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end; 14 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus. 54 | 1 day is 1000 years, why? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Love Fountain | 39514
Dear Scribe, 2 Peter 3:7-10 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. KJV Within context from my perspective, the above verses are clearly pointing to the day of judgement and judgement is layed out as an appointed time at which God is longsuffering towards from the beginning to the end, wanting all to come to repentance. Regarding Psalm 90:4, a thousand years in thy(mans) sight are but as yesterday sure sounds like 1 day is a thousand years to me, because yesterday was only a day away and yet it was a thousand years. I am noone and a sinner on top of that maybe this is why I see differently? I do not see this as a new way of calculating time, I see the Holy Spirit giving a witness to another understanding of 1000 years to man is 1 day with God and confirming the appointed time of this earth age, from Adam's birth to the end of the millenium as I have stated to CDBJ. Bless you, Love Fountain 2 Peter 3:13-18 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. KJV |

55 | 1 day is 1000 years, why? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Love Fountain | 39507
Dear CDBJ, Thank you for your honest opinion. You state,"I believe that the Bible should be interpreted at face value and that we should try to understand what the author is trying to convey." If we interpret at face value the following, Luke 14:26 26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. KJV At a face value understanding of the above verse one might think Jesus is saying you cannot be my disciple unless you hate yourself and everyone you know. This of course is not the understanding implied by Jesus but could be misconstrued if accepted at face value. Bless you, Love Fountain Rom 11:33 33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! KJV |

56 | Do we read the same Bible? | Mark 4:13 | Love Fountain | 39501
Dear EdB, Yes! Thank you! You state,"People have got to start reading the Bible and stop listening to every wind of doctrine." A friend of mine brought up a very good point recently. He said,"people read every book cover to cover, beginning to end, chapter by chapter, every book except one.........the Bible." Is it not true, that the only book in the World that will help people, they choose not to read and if they do read they don't read it all the way through. Everyone's answers are awaiting them in the letter written to them from their Father. Remember how many time Jesus said,"haven't you read?" Bless you, Love Fountain Prov 8:32-35 32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. 34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. 58 | 1 day is 1000 years, why? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Love Fountain | 39499
Dear CDBJ, The question I asked you was,"Do you see God's statement that 1000 years to us is as 1 day to God having any reference to time as we know it in referrence to the length of this earth age?" I was asking in regards to the beginning, middle and end which I see as the length of this earth age. My reason for this question has come from the 1 day with God as 1000 years to man referrence which I find myself asking for wisdom and understanding. Recently when reading John 11 about the resurrection of Lazarus, I believe the Holy Spirit gave me a witness to the length of this earth age and how 1000 years to man is 1 day with God. In John 11:17 Jesus comes to Lazarus who has been dead 4 days. I believe these four days are symbolical for the 4000 years that mankind was dead in their sins prior to the birth of Jesus. In John 11:6 Jesus stayed and waited 2 days before going to raise Lazarus from the dead. I believe those 2 days to be symbolical of the 2000 years between Jesus' first and second visit amongst us. Then you have the day that Jesus resurrects Lazarus from the dead, which I believe is symbolic of the 1000 year millenial reign in which we will see the resurrection of the people in Christ and the end of this earth age at the end of the millenium. This is the reason for my question of this earth age being 7 days long to God which is 7000 years to man. What do you think? Bless you, Love Fountain |

59 | Do we read the same Bible? | Mark 4:13 | Love Fountain | 39494
I have always understood and accepted a particular doctrine. Then I come in contact with many who believe things that I believe to be contrary to Scripture and the doctrines that I have accepted. Now I find myself getting very upset, to the point of being offended at the belief and interpretation of others regarding the Scripture. Am I found in the parable of the sower in the following, Mark 4:16-17 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 60 | 1 day is 1000 years, why? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Love Fountain | 39490
Dear EdB, Thank you for the response. I am not sure why seven is God's perfect number, if I had to pick a perfect number, I would pick ten for the ten commandments. Anyway, you state,"Which tells me the Rapture, the Tribulation and the Second Coming can happen at any moment." EdB, I have never read anything in the Bible to happen at any moment, have you? If yes, please give one Scripture to support this anytime doctrine? It is true that no man knows the time or date of the harvest however we do know the season and the signs which have been laid out in Matt 24 amongst other places in Scripture. I agree with you we do appear to be on the brink of the season of the locusts. According to God it has been approximately 6 days since the birth of Adam and we are seeing the signs of Matt 24 before our very eyes which preceeds the return of Christ for the 1000 year(1 day) millenial reign which upon completion of the millenium do we see the end of this earth age appointed at 7 days? Bless you, Love Fountain |
