41 | What caused two of Aarons sons to die. | Lev 10:2 | skccab | 212846
MJH, Yeah, it gets me into trouble too. But that's OK. It keeps the God-given mind active and alive, open to possibilities (and also teaches gobs of humility when you get it wrong). :o) Cheri |

42 | What caused two of Aarons sons to die. | Lev 10:2 | skccab | 212840
Greetings MJH You did just fine without spell check!! First of all, let me thank you for your explanation of your previous post (I'm a Sabbath person :o) ). I just wanted to add to this subject my 2cents - Lev. 10:1 says that Nadab and Abihu took fire and incense (which appears to be fire and incense from somewhere other than the God-ordained altars) and my Bible reads that "each took his censor" which leads me to believe that possibly the censors were their own to be used in their homes, again a thing that God did not tell them to do. Mostly, though, look at verses 8-11 - it appears that these men went before the Lord in a drunken state....??? It's not so much that they got drunk, it's that they got drunk and then went before the Lord to do service to Him of their own accord. So it looks like they missed it big time - unholy fire, unholy incense, unholy utensils, and unholy behaviour. You think? :o) Cheri |

43 | WHY DOSE IT HAVE TO BE MOSSES AND ELIJAH | Revelation | skccab | 212834

44 | WHY DOSE IT HAVE TO BE MOSSES AND ELIJAH | Revelation | skccab | 212822
Shalom kelroc, Ssostokley made some very good points for you. I'd like to add my 2cents worth (just some food for thought). Since everyone pretty much agrees on Elijah, I'll make my case for Enoch as the 2nd of the two prophets in Revelation. Since Heb. 9:27 says it is appointed for men to die once Enoch will have to see death at some time. When? Gen. 5:24 says he too, was taken alive to God so, so far, he has not seen death. Like I said, just my opinion. Just something to chew on.... :o) Cheri |

45 | do unbelievers go to Heaven? | Rom 1:20 | skccab | 212698
Thuggish, For such an authoritive answer as "Of course they go to heaven!" we sure do need Bible book, chapter, and verse to back up your statement, please. I've read the Bible through many times - but somehow I missed that one. Thanking you in advance. Cheri |

46 | Torn veil of Mat 15.38 the literal veil? | Matthew | skccab | 212682
MJH, I'm glad you came around with your information cos I was thinking that perhaps the mention of the rent veil might have been recorded in the Talmud, and I don't own any of the volumes (I wish I did have them, there is much in them that help understand the full implications of NT events). And I thank you for reminding me of the rending of the clothing, I had forgotten about that!! :o) Cheri |

47 | Torn veil of Mat 15.38 the literal veil? | Matthew | skccab | 212676
Graftedin I think you're standing among good company. I think everyone on this Forum takes that particular verse quite literally. Here I'm gonna really mess up a good saying but you'll get the gist anyway - "When the sense of the sentence makes sense, then it makes no sense to try to make some other sense of it." ???? (I hope I didn't destroy that statement tooo bad!!) :o) Cheri |

48 | Torn veil of Mat 15.38 the literal veil? | Matthew | skccab | 212674
Greetings graftedin, BTW, I love your screen name. The 'grafted in' symbol is also my favorite!! There are a few more instances recorded in the Gospels that, to my knowledge, are not corraborated in non-Biblical sources such as the slaughter of the innocents in Mt. 2:16 (perhaps there were too few babies killed in the historians' minds to be noteworthy?). And to my knowledge there was no such custom, as stated in Mt. 27:15, at Passover of releasing a prisoner (could the offer between Barabbas and Yeshua/Jesus have been the first and then became a custom, so old at the writing of the gospel that Matthew overlooked the fact that it actually was the first time it had happened?). Just because Mt. 27:51 and Mk. 15:38 is not noted in extra-Biblical sources does not mean it didn't happen. I think we're mighty fortunate to have the information that we do have as so many people would have had the whole Bible destroyed many times over if they'd had their way about it!! :o) Cheri |

49 | why so much space on tabernacle details? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212655
Shalom Dashel, The Tabernacle that Moses saw was the one in heaven. God wanted it made on earth to the letter according to His direction. We mortals learn best by repetition. Also, the Tabernacle is extremely symbolic, everything to do with it, the utensils, the boards, hooks, colors, materials, all of it, points to Messiah. It will be a lot of fun for you to dive in, and learn all you can; but don't try to take it all in at once. Let us know what you find out!! Have fun Cheri |

51 | Can a woman divorce man: Ongoing porn? | Matthew | skccab | 212642
Shalom Bandaid, I have answered to the best of my ability on the fasting and prayer question and I gave you an answer on the divorce question. I just had one more insight on the divorce issue - If you are familiar with the many do's and don't's as portrayed in the Torah, they are mostly in the male gender - but human common sense let's us know that they are speaking to the female gender as well!! Just a few examples - Exodus 23:3 "You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute." Does that mean people can show partiality to a poor woman just because the term woman is not used? Of course not!! One we are all familiar with, Exodus 20:17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his femaile servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's." As we read this we realize it is not just to the men, it's for the women, too. Or is it OK for a woman to covet her neighbor's husband or anything else that belongs to her neighbor? I don't think so. Or Exodus 21:16 says "He who kidnaps a man...shall surely be put to death." Is God saying that it is OK for a man to kidnap a woman? or for a woman to kidnap a man? Of course not! It goes on and on, 'if a man...' but God must surely have meant 'if a human being or a person' in the majority of His civil laws. Just because we don't have the specific words "woman" or "female" doesn't mean the His commandments, whether for the person's benefit or not, doesn't apply to the female gender. Women are very special to God, too!! This is just a general answer to your question about divorce - only you know what really applies. Just keep in mind that God gave us brains to think for ourselves, His word to let us know what He smiles at and frowns at, His Son to cleanse us of our honest mistakes (even our not-so-honest mistakes) and His Spirit to help us know how to unjangle the many messes we seem to create for ourselves (especially before we knew Him). His Spirit will lead you in the way you are to go. Sorry I couldn't help more. :o) Cheri |

52 | Can a woman divorce man: Ongoing porn? | Matthew | skccab | 212609
Hello again Bandaid, I think Doc answered this question far better than I possibly can. And you pretty much answered it yourself when you stated that the person being prayed for has to somewhere along the line open him/herself up for change. Look at the example of Lot's family - God Himself sent His own ANGELS into Lot's home to save them. It was quite evident that they were supernatural beings and still some of Lot's family (the men who were/or were to be married to his daughters) refused to believe, change and be physically saved from the destruction to come. Prayer and fasting is a good thing to do, but God will not override one's freewill to die in one's own sin - see Romans 1:18-32. Cheri |

Hi Bandaid, Might I suggest that you can download the free software called e-Sword and then afterward as one of the modules, you can download Nave's Topical Bible (also free). This is a wonderful tool for bringing up passages in the Bible within any given topic found in the Bible. For that matter, you could try the "Search" feature here on SBF, just type in the topical words and dig in for quite a study. :o) But I'm afraid you're going to find that Keliy is right - there are no verses that give grounds for the woman to divorce, at least not where the term woman/wife/female/girl is specifically used (speaking within the framework of such versions as KJV, NKJV, NASB - possibly some of the paraphrases might be different in that area). Shalom Cheri |

Greetings Senicienta, I'm sorry Senicienta, I made an assumption that maybe I shouldn't have. Perhaps your Bible doesn't have them, but most Bibles have either center-column, end-of-verse, or bottom-of-page references that will send you to another place where a word is translated in the same manner, an idea is joined together, an act is performed or described or explained, etc. As a "for instance" my Bible has as a reference for Ruth 4:7, Deut. 25:7-10 where that act is instituted originally. (I just happen to be reading Ruth right now.) Sometimes the references are helpful in your search, sometimes not so much :o) Certainly, re-ask if first responses are not helpful!! Cheri |

Azure, shalom!! An American phrase is appropriate right now - Ain't that the truth?!!! Amen and amen (I like this one much better!!) Like I said, I've only heard this is true, but I've heard it from more than one or two sources so I figure it must be true. Like you, that much reading must be for the Scriptures only!! So much more blessed reading. It's really strange how it works, but my eyesight is sooo bad that my eyes begin to hurt whenever I'm reading anything and I lose focus EXCEPT when I'm reading the Bible itself? God's way of keeping me focused??? You have a different new year, don't you? I pray that you have a wonderful, blessed year anyway :o) Cheri |

Happy New Year to you too, Val Sorry, took so long to get back to you. I just got in from a 15-hr day-trip to W. Va. Yes, I think they did, but when, I don't know. I think it's contained in the Mishna and/or Talmud (that MJH spoke of), but I'm not sure, and there's far more than 600 of them. I've never seen them myself (so I reserve the right to be wrong :o) ), but I'm told that there are more than a thousand pages on just the dietary laws. Too much reading for me!! Cheri |
