161 | A difficult question | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 210454
Shalom Child of God, I may be repeating what Makarios has given you. But one way (it will take some work on your part) is to find a prophecy made in the Bible and then finding in an Encyclopedia the fulfillment of it. And keep doing this. There are far too many fulfilled prophecies that are documented as to the time of their writings for the Bible to be anything but from God! This is a study that I plan on doing myself soon, I just haven't started it yet. Sorry. Another way, is check with your local rabbi. It won't matter much to him that you are christian, if you show genuine interest in the Hebrew scriptures. He'll proudly show you the synagogue's Torah and give you many sources to read about the process of copying the Torah over the last several thousand years. Actually, you could have a lot of fun doing this project!! Cheri |

Shalom Adam, Thank you for letting us know a little bit about you, but is there a particular reason why you're using 2 different user-names? That gets very confusing.... It would be best if you choose just one to use. (Also, I think using 2 user names is against Lockman's policies.) :-) Cheri |

Shalom Adam, So you must be a 3rd shifter? I was too on the weekends for years, just have given them up for awhile. Why don't you fill in your user profile so we can all get to know you a bit better? :-) Cheri |

Shalom Adam, I'm glad I waited to respond to you, had wanted to pray and consider what you had written. The word was used for things other than medicinal drugs - yea!! Perhaps that is why I have never felt conviction against using medicine, so I guess I'll continue to do so. Thank you for the work and effort you put into your explanation for me. I do appreciate that. Cheri |

Shalom Jay, You stated, "God clearly states that Pharmakeia (the use of drugs) is a sin in Galatians 5:19-20a;" Are you saying that you NEVER use medicinal drugs or are you meaning "street drugs" only? Don't you think it was God who gave man the wisdom and knowledge to find out how to make medicines to make life more comfortable, to even save lives? I do. And I think He gave humans the intelligence to know how to perform surgeries that save lives; and of course, surgeries require the use of drugs. Just wondering...:o) Cheri |

169 | Do we have the whole Bible | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 210139
Hiya Doc, No, not less, not at all. I just particularily, personally like the words in Torah and the Prophets and the Gospels, "thus saith the Lord", "and the Lord said to..." and "Jesus said...", etc. That is just my Personal likes (?). Those passages never fail to give me goosebumps. All of the Bible is God's Inspired Word, and equally inspired from Genesis to Revelation. I just have my personal preferences. Sorry if I mislead you. Shalom Confused, All the Bible is the inspired word of God, the first five books especially, check them out, and also the prophets. The New Testament, especially from Romans on, is mostly the Hebrew scriptures (OT) restated. That's pretty good evidence that our New Testament is OK'ed by God. Cheri |

Shalom Newwine, If baptism is an integral part of salvation (that is, required for salvation) then you are, for all purposes, saying that the Apostle Paul short-changed almost all of the people who heard him preach the gospel because he only baptised 3 people and the household of one of those 3. In short, for all the good writing that Paul did, for a man called to bring the Gentiles to Messiah, he did a sad job, just 3 people and 1 household. Paul states, himself, that he was not called to baptise, only to preach the gospel. He's called to do half of a job? Can you explain that? See 1 Cor. 1:11-18 paying very close attention to verse 18 and also check out 1 Cor. 4:15 - in context is Paul saying these readers have been saved or not? Cheri |

173 | Two Natures or One? | Rom 6:6 | skccab | 209979
Val, shalom, I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying - we can only go by what someone else has told us - but I also think that we can see (little) outward signs of another's salvation, especially if that person is someone we have known for a long time, because the Spirit of God does change people. You think? So if someone is stealing from another and claims they are saved, I'd have to admit that I would really question that statement (or just not showing the fruit of the Spirit, etc.). :-) Cheri |

174 | Who is the Wretched Man? | Rom 7:24 | skccab | 209934
Shalom Steve, OK, maybe you were right in your first impression and it's not so much that I don't know how to use it. I only know bits and pieces of Hebrew, but just looking at the Hebrew proper in it against the Artscroll or Stone Hebrew Bible text - it's a little bit different. So I don't really use it much. But you're welcome even tho you don't need it. I would think an interlinear text would be better? Cheri |

Shalom and greetings Tim, I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts. In a way, I agree with both you and is it Steve mostly responding to you. I look at "sin" as the disease we inherited from Adam and "sins" its symptoms. Like you can be over the flu but for weeks have some flu-like symtoms hanging on. You're no longer sick but the coughing and weakness is still there reminding you of a few weeks ago when flu ruled. Sins are the tell-tale signs of once being sold under sin. We are now new creations, but once in awhile sins (not "sin") pop its ugly head up and we can CHOOSE to do or not to do the thing. Sadly, the tell-tale symptoms of sin lasts far longer than flu hangers-on!! :-( Anyway, just my opinion :-) Cheri |

Shalom Steve, Thought I'd jump in here and give you a link if you need it, for Hebrew of the Hebrew scriptures and Greek for the Newer Testament http://www.scripture4all.org I haven't been able to figure out how to completely use this software, though. And it's literal translation differs a bit from Tim's and it's Hebrew differs a bit from the sefer scrolls (and I'll trust the scrolls first). But you might find it useful :-) Cheri |

Hi John, Thanks, John. Wow, that's a LOT of reading!!!!! Will take at least a full 24 waking hours to get thru it, lol, but am starting it now (on verse 1). John Gill is good, I like him, but soooo much to read with his commentary (and I also tend to forget him). Cheri |
