381 | How to "win the world" ? | Bible general Archive 2 | Rowdy | 108243
I encourage you to keep looking and you'll find a group of christians following the Bible (NT) as closely as possible. I know I have and I've been around the world. Just got to persevere but be open minded. Keep studying God's word. Also, remember during this dispensation with Christ as the head, God doesn't want to see a "church building" made by man. The church must come from within. In other words, if you're a christian, you are the church. Your mission (or part of it) is to find others like you that just want to follow God's word and nothing else. You might even have to start up your own congregation like my wife and I did overseas. We had a few minor problems but overall, it was great. May God bless you in your search. Don't forget to keep praying for His guidance. |

382 | RAPTURE: PRE-TRIBULATION OR NOT? | Bible general Archive 2 | Rowdy | 108241
I'm looking for a specific scripture from the Bible that clearly states what this rapture is all about. The scriptures I've seen posted so far (in my mind) seem to be describing the end of world, immediately followed by Judgement Day. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.
383 | Did God Create Man Mortal? | Gen 1:26 | Rowdy | 107938
I say we can know for a fact that God made us mortals as plainly stated in Gen 3:19. We were made from dust and to dust, we return. BUT of course there were exceptions. During the Patriarhcal Age, men lived for hundreds of years but I think that was the miraculous hand of God maintaining their bodies to populate the earth. The biggest question you pose is that of the Tree of Life. Like you mentioned it seemed to be for our education so we could get used to idea of living forever with God in heaven but the bottom line is: We can't possibly know with any certainty as to why God installed that tree in the Garden. But as always, I'd be interested in others' opinions. |

384 | Did Jesus pre-exist before his birth? | Gen 1:26 | Rowdy | 107936
Check out the first chapter in the Gospel of John.
385 | Was Adam a White Man | Gen 1:26 | Rowdy | 107935
I don't see how anyone could possibly give an authoritative answer to this question. I can only surmise that ALL answers would be conjectures as surely mine is. Like the location of the Garden of Eden or its present status, I think this and several other questions alluded to in the Bible will have to wait until the end of the world. But I'd be interested in others' opinions.
386 | Who is OUR? | Gen 1:26 | Rowdy | 107934
I've always been taught the image which God created in us as humans is the single most powerful item we have in contrast to all other life on this planet. That is our soul which also has our conscience. This is the spiritual being with which our Lord wants us to come home to Him after life. While here on earth, He wants us to glorify Him by believing in Him and His Son. He also wants us to share this gospel of good news with all of mankind.
387 | Who is God referring to? | Gen 1:26 | Rowdy | 107933
The only answer I can think of is the obvious implication of the Godhead or the Trinity. No, the word Trinity is not in the Bible but the concept is there nevertheless. We have more proof of that in the first few verses of the Gospel of John.
388 | Doesn't it say that? | Prov 3:5 | Rowdy | 107893
I enjoyed reading your statement. Your analysis is quite right. There's far too much anger and impatience in the world and it seems to be creeping into this forum. We all should emulate the Christ-like behavior characteristics as we were commanded. I guess the job of being a peacemaker comes at too high a price for some folks. Also enjoyed reading your profile.
389 | Were the babes of Sodom righteous? | Gen 18:26 | Rowdy | 107753
I'll take a crack. You seem to be confusing the two very distinct categories of "safe" and an "accountable" human being responsible for his/her actions. Kids/babies are safe with God as they don't have any sins in their life. However, all of us reach an age (varible with different individuals) by which we know right from wrong and take on the responsibilities of our actions. Thus, we reap what we sow. Even after becoming a part of God's family in accordance with His word, we receive salvation from sin but we're expected to behave like we're saved and not return to the "dog's vomit." BUT, more than that we still have to continue reaping what we've sown in that life of sin. Example: If a person lives a life of casual sex and brings a multitude of kids in this world with several other partners, then they must do their part to provide for those kids. They're not released from those responsibilities because they're saved. But back to the subject at hand. Since babies are safe with God, there's nothing unnatural or strange about God's calling them to join him in heaven before we would prefer to see them go. The scriptures and all correctly applied discussion about righteous or unrighteous is reserved for those that have passed the first moment of accountability or the point they begin to distinguish between right and wrong. |

390 | Do we have to sin? | James 3:2 | Rowdy | 107751
You seem to have left out the sin of omission, that is, not doing that which we know to be good. Who could possibly claim in any one day of his or her life to end the day and go to bed at night knowing for an absolute fact that they had done all the good they could possibly do? Only our Lord could lay claim to that and He did it as a full-time job and literally exhausted himself at times, doing it. Remember, you, I and all other Americans enjoy an incredibly good lifestyle and don't really have to work so much...we could spend more of our leisure time doing good and most of us don't do it, including me. Once you understand how utterly detestable sin is to God, then you begin to get an understanding of how much we owe to God. He forgives us and we (at least I) still fail to live up to his standards. When we finally mature to the point to thank our God for every breath we take and all the many other blessings that shower upon us, then maybe we can get close to that high standard set by our Lord and Saviour. But as for me and my house, I thank God Almighty, His grace covers all of my sin as long as I'm keeping Him in my prayers every day. |

391 | Is this a Christian Forum? | Bible general Archive 2 | Rowdy | 105453
Supplement to my previous statement: In an effort to be brief, I need to get to the bottom line. That is, we all need to realize this country, over the last several decades (my generation) has taken several turns for the worst. We've taken prayer out of our schools and ushered in a tremendous amount of violence into our video industry. For a long time, we took out the option for a person committing a capitol crime and receive a form of capitol punishment which is ordained by God. Now, our country is realizing its mistakes and we're starting to re-evaluate those mistakes but it's going to take a long time to reverse this course. Like the saying goes, you can't make a U-Turn with a battleship in just a few minutes or a few yards. Anyway, back to being brief. To sum it up, we all need to realize the tremendous example we've been given and reacquaint ourselves with our Lord and Saviour. Jesus had incredible patience. According to the scriptures, he spent his whole entire life without sin, yet he was angry with one single thing. It wasn't the way he was treated in that sorry excuse of a trial or the undeserved manner of his death. He got angry over the way His Father's house was being abused. We need to pick our battles and prioritize like He did. There are so many things wrong with this world but over all, I have to say this forum is a definite step in the right direction. We all should resolve to live up to the terms and conditions that we all agreed to when we signed up. About being a Bible Bully, we should realize that the Bible does a fine job of defending itself and God, its Author. Our job is to let the image of that same Author shine through us. At the end of every day of our lives, we need to be prepared to ask ourselves, did we bring glory to our God. Did we conduct ourselves in such a way, that we would be arrested for being christians in the 1st century? Think of what those folks went thru and our petty concerns pale in significance. Let's (including me) all resolve to leave the world a better place than we found it and the only way you can make certain of that is to answer those questions above carefully with a clear and forgivin conscience. Well, you've probably figured out by now, it's tough for me to be brief but if you take some advice from this old man and follow the admonitions above, this world will be better place. One last reminder and I'll hush, at least for now: Remember we're on a mission to forgive at least as much as we have received from the King of Kings. If we don't, I don't think we're going to receive a second chance, come judgement day, like that unforgiving fellow in the parable. |
