361 | What does God say about lesbians? | 1 Cor 6:9 | prayon | 66150
Greetings Protestant, "Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is an abomination." (Lev 18:22) If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman both of them have sone what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Lev 20:13 Whether it is man with man or woman with woman there is no difference. God clearly states here that to Him it is detestable and an abomination (which is one of the strongest words God uses). But as Gloryrain states although God hates the sin He still loves the sinner. prayon |

363 | Witches? | Ex 22:18 | prayon | 65323
Greetings and welcome to the forum! A witch is a person who practiced sorcery. Sorcery was punishable by death because it was a crime against God Himself. To invoke evil powers violated the first commmandment to "Have no other Gods". Sorcery was teaming up with Satan instead of God. Witchcraft is not a game. God would have all witches exterminated, so great is their degree of wickedness before Him. (KJV Commentary). prayon

366 | tithing | Acts 13:39 | prayon | 65217
Greetings and welcome! I disagree with jlpangilinan totally. Tithing is just as applicable today as it was in the OT. There are many, many comments on tithes if you will go to the search box and type in "tithes". EdB is very much correct. You must find a home church. By the way your question is worded I think that you are in the process of doing that. Continue to pray that God will lead you to the place where He would have you to be and I know that He will. As for where to pay your tithes, pray about it and if it is His will for you to give it to the radio station until you find your home church He will give you a peace about it. If you still question it and don't have that peace then it is not where God would have you to put it. Hope I have helped. prayon |

367 | Believing in the Bible | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 64987
Greetings SalvoPete and welcome to the forum! The first thing that you need to do is get them to believe that the bible is real. They will not believe in what it says until they believe that it real. I use many different examples. One I use is the Dead Sea sScrolls. The Scrolls were found in caves near the Dead Sea that were identical to what the bible says now. Another is the bible code. In the bible a Isrealian mathematician has found different events encoded in the bible. For instance, the names of all the WWII leaders (Roosesvelt, Churchhill, and Stalin)have been found encoded in the bible in the same place along with all the major countries (Germany, England, France, Russia, Japan and the United States). The year, 1939, was also found with the above information. The possibility of man writing the bible is mathematically impossible. Many other events have also been found, including 9/11. There are so many other examples. I recommend the book "Signature of God" by Grant Jeffries. It will give you many more examples. Hope this helps. prayon |

368 | The significance of Jesus' Baprism? | Acts 19:4 | prayon | 64915
Greetings danielf and welcome to the forum! There were several reasons for Christ's baptism. First, it was His first identification with us as sinners. Although he had no sin, He took our sins upon Himself on the cross. In addition, it was a symbolism of His death. The baptism was the first thing that pointed to His death on the cross. Next, It marked the change from His private life to His public ministry. Third, it was annointing for service. As you suspected it did have something to do with the OT practice of priests being annointed with oil before beginning their priesthood. When the priests were annointed with oil it was a symbol of the Holy Spirit being given to them in a special way. Christ's baptism was His annointing of the Holy Spirit. Although He was filled with the Holy Spirit since birth, it provided a special annointing for His public ministry. The Holy Spirit must have also imparted a special joy to Jesus bringing an unspeakable consciousness of His nearness to God and God's pleasure in Him. The baptism also proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah. The dove decended upon Him from heaven and remained there and a voice declared from heaven "This is my Son, the beloved, with whom I am well pleased". It also fulfilled OT prophecy, see Is 11.2. Hope this helps. prayon |

369 | few chosen | Matt 20:16 | prayon | 64891
Greetings graceful and welcome to the forum! It doesn't matter when in our lives we get saved, whether it be at a early age or when we are about to reach the end of our lives - we all get the same reward from God. God calls everyone to come to Him, however not everyone will choose to answer His call. Some will reject Him. By earthly standards of judgment, expressed clearly in verses 11 and 12, such action is regarded as putting the last first and the first last. For many be called, but few chosen refers to the general call of the gospel and the efficacious call of grace. He speaks of the difficulty that many experience in believing and obeying the gospel because their minds are fixed on what they can get for themselves, whether in this world or the next. (KJV Bible commentary) prayon |

370 | why did the law change about unclean mea | Deut 12:15 | prayon | 64888
Greetings newcomer and welcome to the forum! According to the McArthur Study Bible while sacrificial offerings were brought to the appointed centers for worship as well as the central sanctuary, the killing and eating of meat for regular eating could be engaged in anywhere. The only restriction on eating non-sacrificial meat was the prohibition of the blood and the fat; the blood being the symbol and vital element of life itself. This differed from the rules during their encampment. prayon
371 | Eternal security vs Luke 12:46/Matt.25 | Luke 12:46 | prayon | 64866
Greetings bhaun and welcome to the forum! In any parable if you understand what each person(s) symbolize you can better understand what it is about. In the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew the bridegroom is Christ and the 10 virgins are the believing Christians. The lamps are a symbol of the profession that Christ is Lord and died for our sins. The oil symbolizes the power and person of the Holy Spirit. In this parable it stands for the oil that makes the lamp produce light or the Holy Spirit behind the outward profession (the lamp) that makes a difference between a life lived by the power of the Holy Spirit and the merely nominal Christian. The sleepers are those who are those Christians who are commonly called "Sunday Christians" - those who claim to be Christians but are complacent about Christ. The midnight cry is the return of Christ. Those Christians who are saved, sanctified and baptized with the Holy Spirit will go with Christ to the marriage supper. Those who aren't will be left behind. In Luke (also in Matt 24:45-51) in the parable of the Faithful Steward it agains refers to the return of Christ. The steward is the Christian and the master is Christ. Those who are 'about their father's business' will be taken in the rapture and those who aren't won't. Being 'about their father's business' in this parable emphasizes the responsibility of every Christian to feed Christ's sheep with the bread of Christ (his word). prayon |

372 | please explain matthews 23:1-12 | Matt 23:1 | prayon | 64832
Greetings Kevin, The Pharisees were a movement within Judaism that were mostly noted for their strict adherence to the law. They made a great show to other men of the fact that they followed the law to the letter. Jesus instructed the people to listen to the Pharisees because they were very knowledgeable where the Jewish law was concerned. In addition, according to the law the Jewish people were obligated to serve them But Jesus also warned them to not act like the Pharisees because they do not practice what they preach. Those who do things for show lay up for themselves treasure on earth, but those who do things in secret lay up for themselves treasure in heaven. prayon |

377 | Isn't Lamentations a book of poetry? | Lamentations | prayon | 63782
Greetings, Lament means to mourne or mourning. "Lamentations" is believed to of been written by the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah had predicted the calamity to befall Jerusalem in his book and In Lamentations, he concentrates on the bitter suffering and heartache in more detail. Since it relates so closely to the book of Jeremiah and can be considered "part 2" of the prediction of Jerusalem it is placed after Jeremiah in the prophetic section of the bible even though it is written in the form of poetry. prayon

380 | distance around Jericho | Josh 6:3 | prayon | 63776
Greetings SDTaylor, I could find only limited information on the size of Jericho. The Nelson’s illustrated Bible dictionary states: "By far the most imposing site of the three is Old Testament Jericho, a pear-shaped mound about 366 meters (400 yards) long, north to south, 183 meters (200 yards) wide at the north end, and some 67 meters (70 yards) high. It has been the site of numerous archaeological diggings." The Believer’s study Bible in 6:2–5 says "Jericho was a city of about 9 acres that would have taken about 20–30 minutes to march around." The city, which was built on a hill, was fortified by a double ring of walls, the outer 6 feet thick and the inner 12 feet thick. prayon |
