324 | Can a christian forgive sins? | Luke 11:4 | prayon | 73535
Greetings, No a person can not. We can forgive a person for sinning or "wronging" us which releases us from the sin of unforgiveness but the only way a person can be forgiven for their sins is to go to God themselves. We can not ask for forgiveness for someone else because to be forgiven for a sin you must desire the forgiveness from your heart, and we have no power over another persons heart. We can however, intercede for the person and ask God to have mercy on them. prayon

326 | Why weren't Jesus' answers the same? | Matt 19:16 | prayon | 73124
Greetings, Actually they were the same. In both cases Christ told each man to give up all he owned and if he did he would have eternal life. In order to love your neighbor as yourself you must put your neighbor above all including your riches. prayon
327 | how did god test abrakam | Gen 22:2 | prayon | 73120
Greetings lady, The test that you are referring to is when God instructed Abraham to take his only son and offer him as a burnt offering. This was the supreme test. To truly test Abraham God had to use the thing that was most dear to Abraham and that was his son. Abraham was 100 years old at the time and probably thought that he was not going to ever have another son. In addition, for a middle easterner it was a most terrible thing to die without a son. If you did your whole life was considered a failure. It was also believed that "heaven awaits not one who is destitute of a son". So in agreeing to sacrifice Isaac to God Abraham was showing God that he truly loved Him above all. prayon
328 | Holy Spirit | John 9:1 | prayon | 73117
Greeings Mike, I think I understand what you are asking - if not let me know. You are right the man that Christ healed did not have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit did not come onto the scene until the day of Pentecost. What healed the man was his faith that he could be healed and the fact that Christ had the power to do so. People today do not have the faith that they had before. Many don't know how to believe with such depth. In order to receive a miracle you have to have the ability to receive. You don't have the ability to receive if you don't have the faith top receive. prayon |

329 | explain Revelation chapter 12 | Rev 12:1 | prayon | 73052
Greetings Neal, Chapter 12 is a description of a war - first on earth and then in heaven then back on earth. The woman represents Israel. Being clothed with the sun speaks of the glory, dignity and exalted status of Israel. The picture of the moon under her feet possibly describes God's covenant relationship with Israel since new moons were associated with worship. The 12 stars represent the 12 tribes. The child of course is Christ. The crying out in pain portrays how Israel has agonized and suffered for centuries waiting for Jesus to come and destroy Satan. The red (represents bloodshed) dragon represents Satan. The mention of 10 and 7 refers to the 7 past worldly empires and the 10 future kingdoms Satan will rule until the 7th trumpet blows. The rod of iron in v. 5 represents the coronation as King over the nations of the world. Caught up to God refers to His assension which is proof of Satan's failure. The 1262 days equals 42 months or 1/2 of the tribulation. V. 14 talks of the woman being given 2 wings of a great eagle. These are not literal wings but instead a depiction of God's protection of Israel. In v. 16 it talks about a great army that will come against Israel like a flood but will be swallowed up in the earth, possible in the many earthquakes that occur during that period. Satan will turn his wrath against the rest of her offspring (the followers of Christ). Hope this helps. prayon |

331 | Y did they think to fill Judas position? | Acts 1:26 | prayon | 73034
Greetings Creation, The position was filled through the casting of lots. Casting of lots was a way of making of decisions in Bible times. The word “lots” occurs 70 times in the Old Testament and seven in the New Testament. Most of the occurrences were in the early period when little of the Bible was available and when God approved of this means for determining His will (Prov. 16:33). For example, the high priest separated the Scapegoat from the one he sacrificed by casting the lot (Lev. 16:8–10). Various offices and functions in the Temple were also determined by lot (1 Chr. 24:5, 31; 25:8–9; 26:13–14). The sailors on Jonah’s ship (Jon. 1:7) also cast lots to determine who had brought God’s wrath upon their ship. Only once in the New Testament did the casting of lots happen with God’s approval. This occurred in the selection of Matthias to fill the spot vacated by Judas among the apostles (Acts 1:26). After the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2), the casting of lots gradually fell into disfavor because more direct access became available to God’s people in and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives. In spite of the many references to casting lots in the Old Testament, nothing is known about the actual lots themselves. They could have been sticks of various lengths, flat stones like coins, or some kind of dice. (Nelson’s illustrated Bible dictionary). prayon |

332 | Where did Laban and Jabob make covenant | Gen 31:48 | prayon | 73001

333 | enoch walking in heaven with god | Gen 5:21 | prayon | 72998
Greetings, The verse is not referring to when Enoch was in heaven. At 65 years of age Enoch begat his first son. He named him Methuselah which means "It shall be sent (deluge) or he has sent his death". Methuselah lived 969 yrs. He died the year of the great flood of which his grandson Noah and his family were the only survivors. It is believed that Enoch, who was a prophet, had a vision of the flood which explains why he named his son as he did. It is also believed that this dream scared him so bad that the last 300 years of his life he walked with God and was such a righteous man that God that suddenly he was not. This means that he was transported to heaven without experiencing death. prayon |

335 | Searching for the truth | Eph 6:12 | prayon | 72931
Greetings FytRobert, Ephesians tell us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but instead against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. All battles are between God and Satan. Christians are involved in this war because we are part of God's army that wage war in the heavenlies by the power of prayer. We have been given the power to bring Satan and his demons down. Non Christians are involved because with or without knowing it they war on the side of evil. You can either be for good or evil, for God or for Satan. There is no gray area. If you have not given your life to Christ then you are on the side of evil. Hope this helps. prayon |

336 | Are we bound by OT Laws? | Rom 6:14 | prayon | 72679
Greetings IHH and welcome to the forum, In Matt 22:37-39 Jesus gives us the two greatest commandments: Love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind and Love your neighbor as yourself. If you obey these two commandments then you will be obeying the 10 commandments. All commandments are encompassed in these 2 commandments. The other main OT laws were given in the book of Leviticus. The majority of them had to do with sacrifices. We were released from these sacrifices when Jesus became the final sacrifice for our sins. Other OT laws included laws that boiled down to using handwashing to not spread germs. Therefore, whether we are bound by the OT laws are basically mute since Jesus reinerated them while He was on earth in the NT. If you have questions about other laws in the OT that you are questioning please let me know and I will answer them for you. prayon |

338 | John11:7-16 | John 11:10 | prayon | 72676
Greetings Sweet, You are close but these verses have a deeper meaning than that. If you read verse 8 it tells you that the disciples were worried about Jesus going back to Judea where the Jews wanted to stone Him. If you stay in context it is then referring to Jesus remaining safe. Jesus said as long as He performed His Father's will (during the daylight period of His ministry) He was safe. But soon the time would come when His earthly work would end according to God's plan of redemption and Jesus would "stumble" into darkness. Jesus was telling them that as long as He was doing His Father's work, even this late in His ministry, He was safe and no harm would come to Him no matter where He went. prayon
339 | what was the org. day of the sabbath | Matt 28:1 | prayon | 72225
Greetings dgodsdiva and welcome to the forum, In order to get an answer to this question we must look at the crusifixion of Christ. Christ was crucified on Friday( the preperation day),rested on the sabbath day in the tomb,(Saturday),and arose on the first day of the week(Sunday). How did the change take place from Saturday to Sunday take place? Church history tells us. It happened during Roman times when the church and government became one. During the reign of Constintine,(a pagan and nominal christian), who worshiped the sun. Their festival day was Sunday (the venerable day of the sun). In order to unite the empire with the churches apostasy and to incorporate the pagans into the church (along with many of their practices and idol worship), the day was slowly changed to Sunday. prayon |
