3341 | Was the serpent being worshipped? | Num 21:8 | Searcher56 | 9409
Nolan, correct. There is a lot of NT typology in the OT. 2Ki 18:4 says that Israel had been burning incense to it, a calling it Nehushtan, so Hezekiah broke it into pieces. They had violated the Law. Steve |
||||||
3342 | Did David or Elhanan kill Goliath? | 2 Sam 21:19 | Searcher56 | 9406
EdB ... Yes, that is possible. But, as I was reading the passages last night, I wondered if there could be a second man named Goliath. I wish there weren't all these copiest "problems" in the Bible. Steve |
||||||
3343 | Co-authors 'inspired'? | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 9405
Hank, Great answer. He probably did not write any of the books. But, he did put is mark on some, like 2The. Steve
3344 | Evil already occured? | Gen 2:9 | Searcher56 | 9404
Nolan, You're right. Isa. 14:12-15 and Eze. 28:11-9 refer to Satan and his fall from heaven, according to some "experts." You are right the knowledge of good and evil made it possible for mankind to sin. They were innoncent, since God created them. We are born sinners - because of Adam and our fathe's seed. The serpent was in the Garden and enticed Eve to do evil, that is sin (Gen 3). The trees were there to give Adam and Eve a choice. Steve |

3345 | Is active grace really faith | Gen 6:8 | Searcher56 | 9400
Tim, great answer. It also fits with Hebrews 11:1, which leads into this passage. Faith being sure and certain. It requires no action. But, because of faith, Noah and others took action. Steve |

3346 | Why was there a tree of life in Eden? | Gen 3:22 | Searcher56 | 9395
Nolan, Great post. Man was not guaranteed to live forever - just because he was created. He had to go to the tree of life to gain eternal life. Just as we need to go to the cross. The tree of knowledge of good and evil is what the world takes and wants. We each have a choice. I do not think not choosing either is an option, for Adam or us. Another question is why is there the tree of life is Rev. 22? Do we need it, since we are in heaven. I read it is for the healing of nations (vs 2). Steve |

3347 | Ahaziah a ruler at 22 or 42? | 2 Chr 22:2 | Searcher56 | 9301
Nolan ... If 42, then Ahaziah would be older than his father. 2 Chr. 21:20 says Jehoram was 32 when he became king and ruled 8 years, making him around 40 when he died. If his son was 42, uhm. Steve PS I am going thru the questions. You did ask many. Are these of your own thought? |

3348 | Ezekiel ... Your 9 (10) points refuted? | Matt 28:19 | Searcher56 | 9241
I did not say that Gen 1:1 and 26 alone proves the Trinity. I was asking you how you get Oneness when these passages prove otherwise. I have already posted how I, and others see the Trinity throughout Scripture. Again I ask you - prove Oneness in these passages, then we can move on to others. John 1 shows me part of the Trinity, as does 1 Timothy 3:16. There are some specific actions that the Father does, that the Son does and the Holy Spirit does. But, I say again the are equal and they do have some of the same attributes. Your riddle is easy to answer. It is not the Spirit's blood, but the Lord's. Many manuscripts say "the church of the Lord" instead of "the church of God." Plus, it is by Christ's blood that we are purchased. Again, this is seen in many passages. That is unique to Him. I do seek and search the Word and pray for understanding. |

3349 | Ezekiel ... Your 9 (10) points refuted? | Matt 28:19 | Searcher56 | 9236
"webpastor" ... Gen 1:1 proves there is a Trinity. Do you know the Hebrew word for God used is Elohim? Do you know that means more than two? Then in verse 26, He says let Us make man in Our own image. Now even those who just understand English see that means more than one. There are are verses that use these words as well. Yes, there are verses that show there is one God - it is because they are Three in One. Please explain Gen. 1:1 and Gen. 1:26 to show there is no Trinity. |

3350 | Why? | Matt 7:13 | Searcher56 | 9135
Ezekiel ... Now we are off track - So I will start a new thread. I have added to what Nolan posted.
3351 | Tim, Who did Paul call on (Acts 22:16)? | Matt 7:13 | Searcher56 | 9099
The NASB says "And he said, 'The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear an utterance from His mouth." ... I see the Righteous One in this verse. Who's will are we appointed to know? Their wills are congruent. |

3352 | Why did Moses strike the rock? | Num 20:11 | Searcher56 | 9075
Prayon ... Moses did miss his entrance pass into to Promised Land. But, the Lord still blessed the Israelites, including Moses, with water - even if he disobyed/ did it his way. We need to not think we have to work, including doing what is right to obtain blessings. We may get punished. Steve |
||||||
3353 | Who were the Nicolaitans? | Rev 2:6 | Searcher56 | 9073
Typo - it is Gal 1:6, not verse 10. I am sorry, Steve
3354 | Who were the Nicolaitans? | Rev 2:6 | Searcher56 | 9072
Prayon ... Good answer. There were these groups (sects) in the churches that were preaching another gospel (Gal 1:10). I am not sure the Nicolaitans were in the church of Ephesus, since they were hated. So they went north to Pergamum. Steve
3355 | Who were the Nicolaitans? | Rev 2:6 | Searcher56 | 9071
Prayon ... Good answer. There were these groups (sects) in the churches that were preaching another gospel (Gal 1:10). I am not sure the Nicolaitans were in the church of Ephesus, since they were hated. So they went north to Pergamum. Steve
3356 | What is meant by "unholy fire"? | Lev 10:2 | Searcher56 | 9070
Nolan ... It could of been the Sabbath and the points you quoted. It also could of been they violated whnat God said about incense (Exo 30:1-10) and the formula (vv 34-37). Steve PS We see that God is serious and will administer justice instantly, without warning. I am glad He doesn't do it to me when I sin. |
||||||
3357 | Why did Moses strike the rock? | Num 20:11 | Searcher56 | 9068
Nolan ... I think the commentators missed something. In verse 10, Moses said, "... must WE bring you water..." I believe it is the first time that Moses tried to get some of the credit. I wonder if the "we" included God, or was it Aaron and himself, only? Also, in spite of his disobedience, God blessed the people and him with water. Steve |
||||||
3358 | Why did Moses strike the rock? | Num 20:11 | Searcher56 | 9066
Prayon ... God does not have a room where He has blessings that we missed. The teaching that He has is not Biblical. Read the Beatitudes and see what real blessings are. Steve |
||||||
3359 | Why the dispute? | Jude 1:9 | Searcher56 | 9065
Nolan ... We don't know why, and I think the "experts" do their best. It was angel vs. angel battle, with at least one an archangel. Satan may of been a former one. Anyway, Michael knew that he needed God to intervene. So when God got invovled, He buried Moses, in an unknown location. Steve |
||||||
3360 | What were the "marks of the Lord Jesus"? | Gal 6:17 | Searcher56 | 9064
Nolan ... I have problems with Zondervan, Ryrie, Nelson and others when they say it was Paul's marks that were (part) of his brand-marks of Jesus. In 2 Cor 11:23ff he talks about all he went through as a servant of Christ and did not mention the brand-marks of his Lord. Yes, verse 23 does say servant and a servant can bear the mark of his master. However, I think Paul is referring more his willingness to the mark he received at his conversion. Steve |
