262 | rev 20:4 questions | Revelation | skccab | 210071
Shalom alanj, Welcome to the forum. Please fill in your user profile so we can all get to know you. Many people (myself included) simply take the Bible as it says. To me it appears to be saying that these folks were martyred during the 7-year tribulation. Then they are raised to enter into the 1000-year millenial reign of our Lord. Others will probably answer your question with more concise information than I can. Have fun studying your Father's word. Cheri |

263 | Is Christmas wrong...... | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 210069
Shalom Hancock, This is just opinion: Christmas in and of itself is certainly not wrong. What is wrong is the Santa Claus lie, the opportunity to throw wild drunken parties, going into debt giving gifts to people you don't even like. Getting together on Dec. 25 with your loved ones (natural family and spiritual family), giving of small gifts is wonderful, as long as we remember it's all about the Lord, not the kids or anything else. Just my 2 cents :-) Cheri |

267 | Does Paul mean the throat literally here | Rom 3:13 | skccab | 209996
Shalom Kristy, Since doing Bible study is fun, I'm not gonna steal that joy from you. I'll help you learn how to use this site. Look to your right to see "Bible Text." Below that and below "Translation" you'll see "Book Chapter / verse" just type in the verse you want to check out (rom 3:13) click go. On the next page you'll see the entire 3rd chapter, find the verse you want and left click the green I for information. You will get the NASB and Amplified versions of the verse, Translator's Notes, and the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek Dictionaries. This is a good start at finding out about verses. After that just google "John Gill Commentary" or "Matthew Henry Commentary" and then check out the verse. Have fun Cheri |

268 | Two Natures or One? | Rom 6:6 | skccab | 209989
Shalom Newwine, If baptism is an integral part of salvation (that is, required for salvation) then you are, for all purposes, saying that the Apostle Paul short-changed almost all of the people who heard him preach the gospel because he only baptised 3 people and the household of one of those 3. In short, for all the good writing that Paul did, for a man called to bring the Gentiles to Messiah, he did a sad job, just 3 people and 1 household. Paul states, himself, that he was not called to baptise, only to preach the gospel. He's called to do half of a job? Can you explain that? See 1 Cor. 1:11-18 paying very close attention to verse 18 and also check out 1 Cor. 4:15 - in context is Paul saying these readers have been saved or not? Cheri |

269 | Two Natures or One? | Rom 6:6 | skccab | 209979
Val, shalom, I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying - we can only go by what someone else has told us - but I also think that we can see (little) outward signs of another's salvation, especially if that person is someone we have known for a long time, because the Spirit of God does change people. You think? So if someone is stealing from another and claims they are saved, I'd have to admit that I would really question that statement (or just not showing the fruit of the Spirit, etc.). :-) Cheri |

270 | Who is the Wretched Man? | Rom 7:24 | skccab | 209934
Shalom Steve, OK, maybe you were right in your first impression and it's not so much that I don't know how to use it. I only know bits and pieces of Hebrew, but just looking at the Hebrew proper in it against the Artscroll or Stone Hebrew Bible text - it's a little bit different. So I don't really use it much. But you're welcome even tho you don't need it. I would think an interlinear text would be better? Cheri |

271 | Two Natures or One? | Rom 6:6 | skccab | 209926
Shalom and greetings Tim, I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts. In a way, I agree with both you and is it Steve mostly responding to you. I look at "sin" as the disease we inherited from Adam and "sins" its symptoms. Like you can be over the flu but for weeks have some flu-like symtoms hanging on. You're no longer sick but the coughing and weakness is still there reminding you of a few weeks ago when flu ruled. Sins are the tell-tale signs of once being sold under sin. We are now new creations, but once in awhile sins (not "sin") pop its ugly head up and we can CHOOSE to do or not to do the thing. Sadly, the tell-tale symptoms of sin lasts far longer than flu hangers-on!! :-( Anyway, just my opinion :-) Cheri |

272 | Who is the Wretched Man? | Rom 7:24 | skccab | 209925
Shalom Steve, Thought I'd jump in here and give you a link if you need it, for Hebrew of the Hebrew scriptures and Greek for the Newer Testament http://www.scripture4all.org I haven't been able to figure out how to completely use this software, though. And it's literal translation differs a bit from Tim's and it's Hebrew differs a bit from the sefer scrolls (and I'll trust the scrolls first). But you might find it useful :-) Cheri |

274 | Are Dots or dashes significant? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 209878
Shalom DCSI I don't know about the English Bible, as far as I know there are no dots nor dashes. The Hebrew language has dots above and below the letter and dashes below the letter to tell the vowel sound, dots within the letter often change the letter to another letter, for example: the second letter with a dagesh is a "B" sound, without the dagesh it has a "V" sound. I love the Hebrew language, but I'm just a beginner at it. :-) Cheri |

275 | What was donation of money to the poor? | OT general | skccab | 209875
Hello again Elisabeth, I forgot to include the fact that "offerings" over and above the tithe would also be put in the box on a daily/weekly basis. Cheri |

276 | What was donation of money to the poor? | OT general | skccab | 209874
Shalom Elisabeth, Welcome to the Forum!! I'm not sure exactly what you are wanting to know, but I'll try. God had ordained at least 3 different tithes, one of these being for the poor. Dt. 26:12, Amos 4:4 (I think), Mal. 3:8 and 10. When the Israelites first entered the land these tithes were almost 100percent foodstuffs; by Messiah's time many people, like us, lived by money, so there was a box in each synagogue called a tzedeka (spell?) box and this is where the widow's money went, and that money would be used for good deeds to the poor and needy, the stranger and traveller (or it was supposed to be for that). This particular tithe was required every third year. Hope this helped a bit Cheri |

277 | What is the meaning of "the order of..." | Heb 1:1 | skccab | 209865
Doc, good evening, Thank you, and to all, for trying to help me figure this one out. I will take the advice of all as I continue to work my way through it. :-) Great to have brothers and sisters to help!! Cheri |

278 | What is the meaning of "the order of..." | Heb 1:1 | skccab | 209854
Hi John, Thanks, John. Wow, that's a LOT of reading!!!!! Will take at least a full 24 waking hours to get thru it, lol, but am starting it now (on verse 1). John Gill is good, I like him, but soooo much to read with his commentary (and I also tend to forget him). Cheri |

280 | What is the meaning of "the order of..." | Heb 1:1 | skccab | 209845
Hiya again, Like I said just something to chew on. And I would be thinking in the "spiritual" sense of his parentage being without beginning or ending because of the flood. Not to worry, wasn't wanting a debate or anything, just threw it out as something I heard as a possibility. Nothing more. I don't think it holds any more or less than him being the pre-incarnate Son. There's so little about him, that I think he's someone we'll just have to wait to meet and find out all about him then. That will be fun. Cheri |
