241 | Prayer Request from My Family | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212024
Shalom Shelly, I asked these people because they are friends and family and in the past 2 1/2 years sharing prayer and praise has been a part of our study here. Prayer and praise is a very big part of Bible study. Without it all you get is head knowledge which is useless. If I offended you, I sure am sorry for that. Cheri |

Sweet Hank, I knew that in my heart concerning all the active regulars, too many to name, but we knnow who they are. I agree, just simple every day prayers should go somewhere else but this particular problem seemed to need some very STRONG prayer warriors - so I choose to make the request of my family. :o) THank you for your note, it brought much comfort to my troubled heart. I love all you guys (and girls) - have a wonderful weekend. Cheri |

Messenger, How much studying of Hebrew have you done? I haven't done too much, but what I have found out is that I have yet to find a word with 4 consonants that have only 2 sylables. The yod is a sylable in and of itself, then there are 3 more consonants - there should be at least 2 more sylables, Yahweh just doesn't seem to work. Yahoveh with the Yaho run together as a single sylable is much more likely. I haven't found a site that gives Biblical Hebrew a "w" sound yet, and I haven't found a site that give ancient Hebrew pictographs a "w" sound either. The Vav has always been a "v", an "o" or a "u" sound (maybe once upon a time a "w"? but I've not seen it yet). I'm sure there are Hebrew experts on this Forum, please show me if I'm wrong, cos I'm trying to learn Hebrew. And tell me if I'm wrong about the prounouciation too, but I can't think of one word with 4 consonants and only 2 sylables. :o) In fact, off the top of my head, I can't think of any English words with 4 consonants and only 2 sylables except where the 2 same consonants are next to each other, i.e. little, rabbit, etc. Hope I didn't put my foot in my mouth (if I did, at least I've had my bath tonight, lol) Cheri |

Flyman, I don't know if anyone else has declared this or not (I haven't read ALL of the responses, so if someone has said this, please forgive me for repeating you) but to put what I've read so far in the venacular - you can be dirt poor without a penny to your name and still have money be your god and sustainer. You don't have to be rich or even comfortable to worship money and possessions. Shalom Cheri |

Flyman, You have been given numerous answers and commentary on this verse. And every last one of them is correct. I feel absolutely no condemnation that I have a car, a computer, internet, clothing and food enough. I rarely have extra but when I do, I find a way to bless someone with that extra. That's how I read that command. Under the Law of Liberty that you have in your Master you are perfectly free to sell all that you have and God be with you. Once you have given all away and have no more to give, please let me know how you are doing. I lived that way when I was very young and survived, but I was NOT a blessing to anyone when I had nothing to offer but needs of my own. Yes, God provided during my ignorance, but at the expense of others who sure could have put what they gave to me to much better use. It could have gone to people who truly had nothing and had no way to get what they needed, when I was perfectly capable of working for my living. I am NOT proud of those days at all!! I praise my God that He saw fit to keep me alive long enough for me to realize my foolishness. For I wasn't following Him, I was too busy trying to find food, shelter, clothing, etc., just daily surviving. Maybe it was to admonish you that today in 2008 you cannot physically follow Him and sit and listen to Him teach - that is what He was saying to those in the gospels, who could do that. (I sometimes envy them!!!) And the part about hating family and such, stands true today in that when it comes to who is FIRST and FOREMOST it is to be Him, and not mother, father, wife, husband, child, or anything else. As an example, right now in my apartment building there is a big secular party with a live band going on, but I observe the Sabbath. There is nothing wrong in a secular party, I'd have gone last night, but I do nothing during this 24-hour period that has anything to do with anything other than study, prayer, worship, reading, writing about or talkiing about Jesus, my Master (though in the freedom that we have in Jesus, I could be downstairs right now if I wanted to go). I choose to put Him first over a fun party and I'm having a wonderful night, I've got my praise music on, Bible open, and talking to you about the God of heaven and earth. I'm not missing anything at all!! (I hope I don't sound like I'm boasting because I'm not, I'm simply trying to give you a very viable example of "hating" anything that might take your mind off putting Him first. I worship Him all the other days of the week as well, but I treat the Sabbath as a little dress rehearsal of the world to come where it will be HIM 24/7 and I love it and I can't wait for the real thing!) Maybe since you can't seem to find the answer you want, you should take the advice another responder gave you, and quit looking at the tree and view the forest for now. The tree will become self-explanatory soon enough. Meanwhile, be blessed. And as Kcabm14 told you, if God wants you to sell all you have, you would be doing it and not asking questions about it, you would just know that you know that you know that you are to do it. Shalom Cheri |

Merry Christmas and Shalom ssmiller, I'm imagining you are wanting to know about the Birth? That would be 1st chapter of Matthew, first 2 chapters of Luke, Isaiah 53 is a good one about what Messiah would be like and do. Also, Isaiah 7:14; 8:14; 9:1-2 and 9:6-7; 11:1-2 and 10 - just to get you started. :o) Cheri |

252 | Assuming this covenant was renewal of th | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212560
Shalom Senicienta, The very first covenant to Abram can be found in Gen. 12:1-3, the promise of the land was confirmed in verse 7. In Gen. chapter 15 the promise of Isaac is given along with the promise of the land reiterated. Again in Gen. chapter 17. (These are not the only places in the Bible that you can read about the Abrahamic covenant, but they will get you started - you can follow your Bible's references for the others.) The covenant that the Israelites broke was the Mosaic covenant where they promised to follow and obey the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob only. Where the Hebrews broke their part of the covenant happened throughout their history (right up to this day) when they would go after other gods of the nations around them. Hope this helps somewhat :o) Cheri |

253 | Assuming this covenant was renewal of th | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212586
Greetings Senicienta, I'm sorry Senicienta, I made an assumption that maybe I shouldn't have. Perhaps your Bible doesn't have them, but most Bibles have either center-column, end-of-verse, or bottom-of-page references that will send you to another place where a word is translated in the same manner, an idea is joined together, an act is performed or described or explained, etc. As a "for instance" my Bible has as a reference for Ruth 4:7, Deut. 25:7-10 where that act is instituted originally. (I just happen to be reading Ruth right now.) Sometimes the references are helpful in your search, sometimes not so much :o) Certainly, re-ask if first responses are not helpful!! Cheri |

255 | why so much space on tabernacle details? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212655
Shalom Dashel, The Tabernacle that Moses saw was the one in heaven. God wanted it made on earth to the letter according to His direction. We mortals learn best by repetition. Also, the Tabernacle is extremely symbolic, everything to do with it, the utensils, the boards, hooks, colors, materials, all of it, points to Messiah. It will be a lot of fun for you to dive in, and learn all you can; but don't try to take it all in at once. Let us know what you find out!! Have fun Cheri |

256 | Who is the generation? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212796
Shalom Kcabm, Some theologies say He was talking about the generation to whom He was speaking, therefore, they believe that the 70AD events were the fulfillment. The majority (myself included) believe what was meant is that the generation in which "these things" beigns will not pass away before all the things have happened. (After all, it is generally agreed upon that the period of time is only about 7 years, with perhaps a 5-10 yr. period leading up to the 7-yr Tribulation.) Some believe that those saved won't see any part of the 7-yr period (pre-trib), some believe that the saved living at that time will see some of the Tribulation (pre-wrath), some believe that the born-again will see all of it (post trib), and some believe that He returned in 70AD and we are now in the 1000 year millenium (preterist). Just my 2cents... Cheri |

258 | Who is the generation? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 212966
Good afternoon, Kcabm, It is not in good form to just tell someone that they are wrong, and certainly not very humble. It is much more honorable to offer the possibility of error with backing scripture - and then to humbly offer a different interpretation, also with backing references. A really wonderful teacher must always be aware that he/she is NOT the final authority, and that he'she is certainly not incapable of being in error. (We have only one such Teacher in that category!) Shalom Cheri |

Shalom John, You're jumping in is just fine. I was just totally lost in that quote from the fellow. I couldn't see any correlation either but it sounded like I was suppose to see something.... Sometimes I'm just thick. Cheri |
