Bible Note: Messenger, How much studying of Hebrew have you done? I haven't done too much, but what I have found out is that I have yet to find a word with 4 consonants that have only 2 sylables. The yod is a sylable in and of itself, then there are 3 more consonants - there should be at least 2 more sylables, Yahweh just doesn't seem to work. Yahoveh with the Yaho run together as a single sylable is much more likely. I haven't found a site that gives Biblical Hebrew a "w" sound yet, and I haven't found a site that give ancient Hebrew pictographs a "w" sound either. The Vav has always been a "v", an "o" or a "u" sound (maybe once upon a time a "w"? but I've not seen it yet). I'm sure there are Hebrew experts on this Forum, please show me if I'm wrong, cos I'm trying to learn Hebrew. And tell me if I'm wrong about the prounouciation too, but I can't think of one word with 4 consonants and only 2 sylables. :o) In fact, off the top of my head, I can't think of any English words with 4 consonants and only 2 sylables except where the 2 same consonants are next to each other, i.e. little, rabbit, etc. Hope I didn't put my foot in my mouth (if I did, at least I've had my bath tonight, lol) Cheri |
