Bible Question (short): Transplants, a matter of ethics? |
Question (full): This is an ethics question. Is it Biblical to have an organ transplant? We now have the ability to transplant the Liver, Heart, Lungs, Kidney, Bones, Veins, Arteries, Skin, eye lense tissue, hand, finger and toe, and perhaps more that I don't remember. This last week a Face transplant took place, the first in the USA. There have been people who have received a transplanted major organ and have had personality quirks that are unexplained. Those with the transplanted organ have suddenly taken on some of the donors likes and dislikes. If the personality quirks are real, this might be something to seriously consider what the Bible might suggest in some way. Is it possible that memory might be a part of the organs DNA? I am looking for something that might tie into a Biblical response either for support or rejection of some or all transplants. This is a serious issue as more body parts are being transplanted. Thank you for you answer. justme |
