The act of submitting, yielding to the power or authority of another; the state of being submissive. Submission is one of the hardest things for some people. It involves the process of truly humbling oneself in order to obey those in authority over you. |

242 | Moses prepared for his family how? | Exodus | prayon | 18658
Nolan, my guess is because that Moses was near death and was unable to do it himself. Verse 24 (Exo 4) states that the Lord met him and tried to kill him. Also it could be that Moses did not circumcise his son because Zipporah was against it. However, this could not fit either since the Medianites belonged to the same Abrahamic stock as Isreal, having descended from Abraham's second wife, Keturah. One would assume that they had retained some of the knowledge of the Words of God from Abraham.
243 | What did they do? | Exodus | prayon | 18588
Greetings Nolan, So does that mean that we can suffer hardships by not doing anything to deserve it. And remember that most of our consequences we have to go through are because we chose to do the thing that the consequences are for, the Isrealites did not make any wrong choice. prayon

Of the 55 former fathers of this nation who wrote the Constitution 52 were active in thir church. Noah Webster could quote the bible chapter and verse. 246 | Where was God? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 16764
Where I am headed is where man was before this happened? God was there at the World Trade Center. He was at the Pentagon. He was with them at the plane crash in Pennsylvania. He was with those who got detained and didn't make it to work. He was there with those who didn't make it out who needed comfort. Man, however, was not concerned with what he needed to be concerned with - living Godly and praying for our land. Man was concerned with self. If America would of been on her knees praying for our country I doubt that the events on Sept. 11 would of happened. We can not expect God to be there if He is not asked. He is a loving and compassionate God but He is not a pushy God.
247 | Where does one start who has never reall | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 15575
Welcome to the forum Mark. I agree that the gospels are an excellent place to start. Some information for your reference; Matthew is known as the teaching gospel. He presents Jesus as the Mighty King and empasizes the power of Christ. Mark is known as the narrative gospel and is full of action. he presents Jesus as the obedient servant and emphasizes the service of Christ. Luke is a carefully documented gospel that portrays Jesus as the ideal Son of Man and emphasizes the sympathy of Christ. John is the spiritual gospel. He portrays Jesus as the Divine Son of God and emphasizes the Wisdom of Christ. I also want to invite you to ask any questions you have on the forum. No question is a dumb question. I can also give you another suggestion that has not been given if you would like to e me. You can find my email address by double clicking on my name in the author list. May God bless you richly on your search for truth in His Word. prayon |

253 | No medical/spiritual need to circumcise? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 11819
I'm not saying yea or nay to circumsision. I just gave the medical points on both sides. I do know for a fact (being a surgical nurse) that it is extremely painful for a man to have it done later in life.
254 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | prayon | 11758
Steve, If I have taken what you wrote wrong let me know. "Should she leave? Only after sound biblical advice." NO! She should leave period. Yes she should get sound biblical advice and counselling but she needs to leave at once. No woman should ever stay in an abuse situation. Her life as well as her childrens lives are inevitably in danger. Christ would never want a woman to stay where her life is threatened. In an abuse situation the cycle of abuse will always get worse. The man does not believe he is wrong, usually because that was the way he was raised. A man of this type is usually very controlling. He does not want her friends or family to know of the abuse and will do his best to isolate her. There is no "perception" about it being her fault because she does not want to do it his way. We are not talking about just a disgreement here. We are talking about women getting beaten, kicked, threatened with weapons, and pushed into walls or worse. A woman is NEVER deserving of physical or mental abuse. In addition, the children are usually witnesses to this and probably are suffering from violence inflicted on them also. The husband is in need of help. She can be an intergral part in his recovery and hopefully they can put their marriage back together but it will doubtfully happen when the wife is still in the home. A woman should submit to her husband but she should NEVER submit to his abuse. |

255 | muslims - 144,000? | Revelation | prayon | 11412
Isa, if the free bible you are talking about is the one from the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints please do not send for it. These persons (or Mormons as they are also called) do not believe in the bible to be the only infallible word of God. They are as deceived as Muslims are. God to any K-Mart, WalMart, ect. and get a bible there. If you can not afford one I am sure any Christian Church will be happy to give you one. prayon
256 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | prayon | 11290
I am most happy to give any of my testimonies whenever I get the chance because it shows the awesomeness of God and how He always has a plan! It also helps people to know that someone else has been where they are now and made it out. The thing we must remember though is that He will not put anything on us that we can not bear - although at times I think he gets very close! :o)

259 | Don't sweat the small stuff? | NT general Archive 1 | prayon | 9854
I have read what you are responding to. Your statement of "some unimportant historical details in the bible are false" is what I was responding to. There is NOTHING false in the bible. Nor is there nothing unimportant. Every word is there for a reason. It may sound unimportant to us but I have learned that every word backs up something else or has some type of meaning whether physically or symbolically. I am also concerned about how what you have wrote will sound to "baby Christians". prayon |

260 | Why is Elijah hidden so suddenly? | 1 Kin 17:3 | prayon | 9634
In verse 1 Elijah is making a prophecy; and second, whom the prophecy is really from. Elijah warns the ruling couple that their domain will experience a famine for years and that Baal's cult of deceit would face the challenge of all time. Elijah must of wanted to run through the city and warn the people of God's impending judgement. Elijah must of had great courage too, because the ruling couple were none other than the murderous, God hating Ahab and his wife Jezebel. God, however, had other plans and commanded Elijah to go and hide himself by the brook of Cherith. There could be two reasons for this command. First, it was for Elijah's protection. In 18:10 it states that there was no kingdom or nation that the wrathful Ahab had not searched to find Elijah Second, it was for Elijah's training, to provide time alone with God in "boot camp". God had great works for Elijah to do and to do these works God needed time to train him for these tasks. To rely solely on God and know that God would provide for all his needs. (taken from Life and Times of Elijah by Charles Swindol) prayon |
